We asked for a room with a window view which they were kind enough to accommodate but the windows look like they haven't been cleaned since the Beatles played live in the Cavern. A little disappointed but hey we're by the seaside and it's tough to keep windows spotless but it would have been nice to actually see out of them for the price we paid to have a room with a view. Over all don't let these little things steer you away. The prices are reasonable the people are super kind, friendly and accommodating the rooms and beds are comfortable and tidy. Just wear your flip flops in the bathtub/shower if your skittish about Mildew. If you have lung and health issues then stay away. There is MILDEW here

Bathrooms are tired looking. Little things like taps for the faucet is located in a weird location that makes it inconvenient to turn on and off. The showers are horrible because there is no door so the water splatters everywhere in the bathroom. It wasn't well designed and needs a total remodel. However, the reason I give it one star isn't the old fixtures and design. It is the horrible service in the restaurant. We went there twice to sit in the bar area to get some snacks and drinks. Both times, no one approached us until I got up to ask how we place an order. There was enough staff but were ignoring us. The second time, I was sitting by myself and no one approached me to take an order although one of the server spent almost 10 minutes chatting with one of the patrons. Clearly she had all the time in the world. I patiently waited staring at all the staff trying to get their attention but they just walked by without even glancing at me. My husband finally joined me and sat down. As soon as he sat down, a server came to take our order. I realized they were ignoring me because I'm Asian and he is white. The staff here is very racist. I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you're a racist and you're okay with this behavior. We are never coming back here.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms, though small, were classily done in basic white and wood with exposed brick. Loved the simplicity of the place. The bathrooms had heated towel racks and mirrors (never have to worry about steaming them up). The down side: I think our room was recently painted, as you could still smell the fumes. Also, as like many hotels, it was a bit loud. You could hear people walking down the hall and the band playing downstairs. You could also smell the kitchen - as they have a wonderful restaurant attached to the hotel. Maybe ask for something other than the first floor.

You will waste time on transport by bus and using a car service gets expensive. The lift / elevator does not work so if you have a disability you have to make sure u request ground floor otherwise you have heaps of floors to climb. The floor were dirty. Also some of rooms have only skylight window. My travel mate's window was not securely shut or was leaking so he felt the wind all night and rain was coming down his face. There is no complimentary soaps in the rooms either.

The staff is very gregarious and helpful. They will do their best to help you if you have any request. The hotel is 5 minutes' drive from Liverpool City Centre but it is far enough so you don't have to suffer from noise; the area is effectively very quiet. My room had a bathroom with a great shower and was spotless clean. Teas and coffee, biscuits and even mineral were provided. A hair dryer was also present if you needed it. TV with a freeview box was also present. My favourite thing about my room was the nice decoration and the bed. The bed was very comfortable and the lining was so comfortable as it was 100% cotton. Wi-fi was available for free in the lounge which encompasses comfy leather sofas and a widescreen TV. The breakfast is lovely too and you are spoilt for choice: continental, full English or a bit of both world. Whether you are here on business or on a mini-break to discover Liverpool city, I can only but recommend to stay here. I only paid £49.95, which was cheaper and far nicer than staying at a Travelodge.

The Blackburne Arms is an impressive building in the historic Georgian area of the city, just to…read morethe east of the Anglican cathedral. It has recently had a makeover, and apparently now also does accommodation, though we didn't stay here. The bar area is a single large room, with a raised eating area, and tables as well as a spacious standing area by the bar. It's decorated in that modern style of minimalism with dark wood and dark, muted colours. It serves a wide selection of real ales, and is very popular for its food - very traditional pub grub - all at very reasonable prices (mains for around £5, and £2.50 a pint). It attracts a mixed crowd with lots of locals - some of whom were a little worse for wear when we visited, and a bit noisy in a laddish sort of way, which was a pity, as it made the ambience a bit less friendly (and hence dropped to 4 stars). The area outside can also attract the odd red-light custom, which single women may find intimidating, though that's not the pub's fault.
