I couldn't fault this hotel. My youngest son contacted them to plan his wedding day and the staff were absolutely superb. All the planning was done by them, while the two families chose to provide gifts, wedding cake etc. A room for the night was included for the couple and those of us who didn't want the problem of getting home late at night booked double rooms for a very reasonable price with an excellent breakfast included. The wedding itself was smoothly conducted, with a registrar present and all guests had a celebratory drink of bucks fizz or natural orange juice as preferred. There was a Wedding Breakfast as I have been told to call it actually a glorious meal. We also had full use of the function room for the evening, with its own bar, right through until everyone had had enough; although some of us went through to the adjoining public bar as they had two real ales on hand-pump! Drinks prices were (for an hotel) very good, in fact, the same as pub prices around the area. The rooms were basic, but very comfortable and, for most of us, on the ground floor and very close to the function room. The car-parking area is next to the hotel and ample for all of our needs. The location is perfect as it is surrounded by fields and trees, yet is right next to the East Lancashire Road (A580), so very easy to find. read more

We usually stay in places like Premier Inn, but this sounded good on the website so we thought we'd give it a try. The website pushed the fact that they have 'American-sized family rooms'. Well, the room was bigger than the rooms at Premier Inn, probably almost twice the size actually, but I don't think the quality of the room was that much better. It was a nice room, spacious, came with complimentary BIG spider on the wall (which hubby had to evict so I could sleep in peace!), also had a television, and tea making facilities. The hotel has a leisure centre and swimming pool attached, and this is included in the price for guests if you are in one of the 'family' rooms, so of course the children had to sample the facilities! They loved the swimming pool - and the hotel even provided free towels. The swimming pool was a definite bonus, considering the cost was the same as for the Premier Inn. Breakfast was a self-service buffet, and was really nice. A very pleasant restaurant to eat in, and we just kept helping ourselves until we'd had enough. There is a free car park outside. The hotel has disabled access. Overall, I'd recommend it. read more

This is a pretty good budget hotel. You get access to the leisure facilities for free, there is a decent pub and restaurant attatched and the rooms are pretty good to. What more could you want for around £40 a night. I will definately use it again when in the area. read more

went for new year eve and it was a rip off the buffet was poor was like a 4 pound head job you would think for new years eve it would be good it was,pasta bake, chilli, or chicken with wedges. the entertainer must do lids events he wanted us to do silly games what a waste of money mr tumble of kids tv would have been better,i complained but got no reply yet try again for refund. read more

We booked two adjacent rooms, one for my husband and me and one for my father who is 92 and has limited mobility. We were allocated 203 and 207 - not adjacent. The reception staff were offhand to the point of rudeness and told us the lift was out of order. When I told them this was a problem for us they decided it worked! Said lift was so small we had to fold my dad's wheelchair and he had to stand. No help with bags or even doors held open to get the chair through. 207's door had to be slammed to shut it. 203's bathroom door was hanging off its hinges. Rooms generally, although clean, showed a lack of care. We were told we had to eat early as they had a coach party in at 6 pm. The main course was brought to the table before the soup plates were cleared. Food was cold, apple pie and custard served on a cold dish. Had to ask the manager to send someone to take order for coffee. Dad asked for a weak coffee and was told "They're all the same". The coffee was cold. There is no comfortable lounge area and only on chair in a double room. Breakfast had to be taken in the pub as there was no room in the restaurant. The room was very cold. Food was adequate but the buffet was very disorganised. Coffee again cold and just one cup - I expected a pot. All together an unpleasant experience. The one star is for the cleaner who held a door open for me when I was struggling with my dad's wheelchair. read more
