Wow the rooms here are huge!! When you have a huge group of people it can be quite hard to find accommodation to fit such a large number. Hotels you have to book separate rooms and there aren't many places of that size on Air BnB. Stayed here with a group of friends on a Saturday night in Manchester, in a 6-bed family apartment- costs £350 which works out at roughly £58 per person. There's a £100 security deposit which you get back at the end. It was absolutely massive: huge living and dining area, fully equipped kitchen, two huge bedrooms and two separate bathrooms. Everything with modern furnishings, and the building has plenty of character with exposed brick and concrete pillars. Location is super convenient for a night out-right round the corner from Piccadilly station with plenty of shops close by if you want to do grocery shopping. The apartment came with a free carton of milk- would be nice to have some oil for cooking as a bit annoying having to buy that stuff if you're only there the one night. Check-in and check-out were pretty quick. A few people on hen and stag dos in the lobby. Saw a girl vomiting on herself in the reception area which wasn't very nice, but her friends and staff were doing their best to clean her up and sort it out. There's a bar area downstairs where people were watching the football-I believe there's a gym too but I didn't have the chance to check it out. The apartment was big enough to hold waaaay more than 6 people. However, if you're thinking of trying to make it cheaper by splitting the cost between more people, this isn't that easy. They take down the names of all the people staying in the apartment, and when you come back in at 3am after a night on the tiles, they will do a head count and take your names. All in all a great place for large groups needing somewhere comfy and convenient to stay in town. Recommend. read more

I came here for a PA Network event. As I was on my week off, I was pleased that it was at such a handy location for home. There are two entrances, one directly on the street and one at the side. Our event was in the room directly as you go in the side entrance. It was a great sized room and from memory I think she said it can hold 100 people for a dinner. We had a tour of the apartments and it's a really great building with trees inside. A really good space. The apartments themselves are really spacious and would be ideal for a weekend away. I doubt I'll ever stay since I'm down the road but would recommend to others. The food was served Buffett style and was really good - an Xmas dinner and dessert. The turkey was as nice as Turkey is (I'm not a massive turkey fan but I do eat it at this time of year) and the trimmings were really great , especially the parsnips and stuffing. Dessert was mince pies and chocolate cake, both were delicious. I'd never thought of eating here before but I will definitely be back as if the food is that nice for a mass event then it must be great when going for a meal. Oh also nearly forgot to say. These apartments are beautiful and very spacious if your looking for a different alternative to your standard hotel room. Pros: Excellent renovation of a listed warehouse building. Location (right next to Picadilly station). Cons: Used by a lot of people to accommodate large parties of people. Expensive. I would recommend these apartments if there is a small group of you all willing to chip in and have a night on the town without having to worry about getting home. read more

I had a couple of friends from London come up and stay here for 4 days. Aimed at the 25-40 demographic, these ultramodern and fashionable city centre apartments are perfect for small groups and are budget friendly, starting at around £70 per night (depending on month and day) or £87 including a full English breakfast. When you split this amongst a number of friends it soon becomes a much cheaper way of enjoying 4* luxury, especially when you can use the kitchen to prepare store bought food. The rooms are very spacious, mainly due to the fact that this is a converted warehouse, but you the walls are also very thick so you won't hear a peep out of the neighbours. Downstairs, marvel at the vast central atrium, the large lobby or hang out in the luxurious lounge/restaurant and order yourself some dinner if you can't bring yourself to cook. With all the facilities of a luxury hotel but the comfort of your own apartment, this is a no brainer. read more

You would think that The Place was a just a normal, regular hotel. Well it's not. This is an apartment hotel people, yes. This means that instead of boring, dull Travelodge style rooms, or frumpy, overdressed hotel rooms that you might find in some countryside retreat, you get spacious, modern mini-apartments that are ideal if you are a businessman staying in town for the week or a family with a couple of kids who might need a bit of extra room. The apartments come with a small kitchen as well as a good lounge area where you can sit back, pop your feet on the coffee table and watch the latest episode of Masterchef to help you forget about your hard day at work. The staff at The Place are friendly and helpful, and the building itself is pretty stunning inside. The central atrium travels from the first floor right up to the penthouse, meaning that although The Place occupies a huge building, most of it is seemingly just, well, air. The Place can also be hired for parties and functions with a separate, restaurant and bar area to the rest of the hotel. Good stuff. read more

I haven't stayed here yet, but am due to at some stage and shall be updating my review accordingly. In the meantime, I am blown away! I recently attended an open event here where I got the opportunity to check out The Place as an event space, the function rooms they have available, the food they can put on and the apartments you can stay in. Yep, this is an aparthotel, where you get your own kitchen and sofa and tellybox and such. A home away from home! Now, for the treats! I absolutely loved the food here. We got to try some sample canapes which were generously portioned, delicious and fresh. We even got to taste some dessert samples and their house wines, all of which were incredibly tasty. The staff were friendly and everything was really straightforward, and above all, the atmosphere is incredible. The original mill features and bare brick walls are just divine, and they've really made the most of the space. As for the apartments themselves, they felt remarkably homey, not too dissimilar to the flats you'd expect to find in the surrounding area. I'm looking forward to actually staying at The Place, not just having a trial and sampling its brilliance. It's going to be awesome! read more

I have not personally stayed here but I did go inside the hotel and even checked out the room because a friend has been put up here by the company in a very luxurious two bed apartment. Trivia for the people who don't know this is an old warehouse converted to a hotel! The apartment was GIGANTIC, with two massive bed rooms rooms, bathrooms and the living room is literally like a massive dance floor! Its a fully furnished and equipped apartment with everything one could possibly need! My friend also joked and said that they send a set of new towels everyday! The best thing about the hotel is the brick walls with extremely modern furnishing which is such an incredible contrast. The location is fabulous too because its located just outside Northern Quarter and very close to the Piccadilly Train station. You can pretty much walk to all the bars, pubs, restaurants, shops from the hotel which I feel is very convenient for tourists! Verdict : Would definitely recommend this place to tourists visiting Manchester! P.S This is also a wedding venue and I can imagine why! read more

This place is more like an apartment complex than a hotel, and it is HUUUUUUGE! We stayed here in a large group (for a hen-do) so we'd be close to the centre of town for our hen-related-shenanigans. The good: - We paid £75 each for both Friday and Saturday nights...so it's not too pricey. - Each of the apartments was large and fully equipped (with kitchens, kettles, irons, champagne glasses...everything you might need really...) - The beds were all ginormous so we all slept pretty well, despite hangovers - If you order pizza or takeaway, they can bring it to your door. The slightly less good: - They don't seem to have air conditioning, so the rooms got a bit hot. - We opened all the windows into the atrium (because it was so hot), and then got told off for being noisy. We were actually being pretty quiet, so noise must carry really well throughout the building - Oops. It really was perfect for a hen weekend... read more

I have stayed here a couple of times with friends (a place I've been luckily treated to - so I can't really comment much on price but I do know it's definitely in the higher bracket!). This apartment complex has some lovely rooms/apartments, decked out in a clean, modern, minimalist style. All mod cons which make it a great place to book out for a weekend or more. It's situated near Piccadilly train station so it's great for those coming into Manchester via train - it'll only take you at most 10minutes to walk here from the platform! It's also within walking distance of most of Manchester's main attractions. The beds are very comfy too which is also a plus. Probably a bit too expensive to book on your own (unless it's on the company credit card :D) but is very affordable with a few friends, especially if you want some where decent to crash for the weekend. read more

This was a really interesting place to stay. I had a one bedroom apartment and expected something relatively small, however, I was pleasantly surprised to get a well proportioned apartment with all the mod cons. It was a really cool place to stay with excellent decor and great to have so much space for such a small price. The staff are very pleasant and although the continental breakfast selection is limited the surroundings more than make up for it. Location is perfect as it is right next to Manchester Picadilly Station and only a short walk into the main shopping area. read more

thanks to the reviews on Trip Advisor and Yelp I decided to book a few nights at the Place Apartment hotel. It was really neat! We had a 1 bedroom apartment and there was SO MUCH ROOM! A cute living room, kitchen, eatting area, bedroom and bathroom. The bed was a bit too firm for my tastes but the husband liked it. I also thought the floors and kitchen area could be dusted a bit more but the point of vacation isn't to spend it in your hotel room. the staff was super friendly and informative. the location is great. it's RIGHT next to the train station. It's such a quick walk to shopping and dining. Central Manchester is so compact you can really get anywhere fairly quickly on foot. The free Wifi was a amazing too read more

Very cool concept. Open spacious 2 bed floorplan with original brick ceilings and steel girders exposed. Large open atrium. Front desk friendly and helpful. Overall though, the place could do with a little TLC including paint and a thorough cleaning. Mold and mildew in showers and 1 smelled especially bad. Bed linens had a few stains. Lounge/bar area had a peculiar odor and then I discovered a rancid bowl of water that used to hold flowers..yuck. Everything just felt that it need some disinfectant otherwise I would have given it 4 stars. read more

Everything you cud want and need the appartments were huge fantastic room service great staff brill the only moan I would av is It as bin a week now and still not received my 100 pound deposit back phoned them up and they said it should be in my bank within another week so fingers crossed I will receive it no trouble and hopefully will be booking for May 2014 :) read more

Stayed in a 1 bed apartment for one night overlooking the canal and Ancoats. Everything in the room was ok for an apartment but like someone else had written it could have done with a little TLC, paint touch ups mould in the shower and bedding had a couple of holes in it. The welcome was good and the public hotel areas were lovely and well presented. Breakfast (£8.95) was outstanding value. Most hotel breakfasts in Manchester City Centre are over £12 but this had everything we wanted and all you can eat! But again the seating had noticeable tears in it. The location of the aparthotel is fab - right next to Piccadilly train station and a five minute walk from Market St. But also close enough to the main roads not to get bogged down in city centre traffic. The one thing I would say if you choose to stay here is close the blinds facing inwards to the courtyard. Everyone has a nosey in as they walk past! read more

My partner and I stayed here over the new year period with two friends and it was a good place to have a party and chill out. However, I would say it was functional rather than luxury and although the style of the building does add character (especially the lovely old brickwork), it seemed a little at times like a prison block! The atrium in particular made it feel like this and the loud banging of doors as people went in and out of their apartments echoed around it constantly. This was very annoying when trying to get to sleep! Plus, the apartments are all glass fronted and look out over the atrium.. this may look nice but it means there is zero privacy unless you pull down the blinds. The blinds then completely shut out the light so you are left feeling a little claustrophobic after a while, with no natural light. This wasn't so bad in the back room of our apartment that was street facing, as there was a window. The apartment we had was spacious with a nice lounge but unfortunately the sofa and armchair was only enough for 3 people, not the 4 people we had staying. Also, the beds were not king size as stated, but normal size. They were also very uncomfortable and in need of replacing! Every time I moved, the bed would squeak loudly and I would have a spring from the mattress digging in to me! There was no hot food served as it was New Year's Eve / Day so I cannot comment on that, and the staff were a little unfriendly, especially in the way they quizzed us for our names and room numbers when we came back to the apartment hotel at 12:30am on New Years Eve. All in all, it was OK and in a convenient location, but not what I was expecting and I probably won't go back. read more

Its less of a hotel and more a serviced apartment block and is impresively designed to the last detail. I was there for a meeting in the modern cafe-bar with a spread laid on that was fabulous. Staff were smart and efficient and ultra polite and I guess it would make an ideal stay in the city for corporate account business types. Its quite luxurious and has a certain style although a little short of character. Great location, though. read more
