Unfortunately everything else about this hotel was a total mess. Our experience started by barely being able to open our door because it was sticking so strong to the frame. The room was fairly clean, not spotless and nothing too dramatic but overall it just has a rundown feeling to it. The beds were ok and the TV worked fine but the other major downside to the hotel was their hotel restaurant. The furniture all had tears and stains, and they didn't serve what was actually on the menu. Specifically, they told us that the cocktails on the menu were not available, even though they had a fully stocked bar. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant one night. They told us that the lasagna was not available and the "rosemary tator tots with chipotle mayo" had no rosemary whatsoever and the mayo was actually ranch dressing. They weren't able to serve water from the bar and overall it was extremely overpriced for the quality of food. We didn't even try to get breakfast or coffee at the hotel because of this negative experience. The hotel seems to have attempted a modern approach with their online self-check in and check-out options but it makes the low quality more pronounced by not having any sort of customer service experience. The staff that we did encounter were all nice and helpful, the poor experience we had was not a result of the people but rather the fact that the hotel felt rundown.

There's nothing worse than expecting a yummy meal only to be disappointed because the food was bland and boring. Sure, it takes some effort (and dollars) to kick up the flavor factor - but the payoff could be exponentially awesome. Word of mouth and repeat customers are sure to increase sales. You likely will forget accommodations, but you won't forget a great meal, yummy sandwich, crunchy fresh salad, or a fresh baked cinnamon roll. A little effort, that's all it would take. They have an on-site restaurant, first night I ordered a steak medium rare, it came out much closer to medium, second night we ordered a pizza and on the crispy crust scale it was a big zero, no crisp to the crust at all, basically warm bread with pizza toppings, granted we are not in Chicago or New York or even LA but come on at least make it look like you know how to make a pizza. Unless you have a meeting in this hotel, I would pick something else in the city closer to some of the many fine restaurants.
