Installed a front door and side garage door over the last 6months. Both installations were excellent and pricing was fair. They are not the fastest company out there, but they had warned me in advance of the average lead times.. Considering that the front door was rather custom, I don't think the delay was unreasonable. If you want off-the-shelf and shoddy workmanship go to HD instead.. Communication was fair -sometimes it took a few attempts but what matters to me is that once the doors were in, we could schedule in a reasonable amount of time and with a schedule that would fit mine. I have used Premier Door Services for my interior doors over the years. I recently had Chris and Mark from the Russell Ave store install my large closet doors. My office doors are way oversize so that meant a special order from the manufacturer. There was a delay with the manufacturer in getting the special order doors but that wasn't the fault of Chris but they lit a fire under the manufacturer and got things moving. (I wasn't in a hurry so that was okay) Mark installed the doors that they did have on the kid's bedrooms so our job was done in 2 stages. My office doors are in and are beautiful as are all of them. Mark does a professional job and is great to work with. Very friendly, too. Their prices are very good vs competitors. What I like is their professionalism. If you need interior doors, go with these guys. I think they are the best!!! read more

Have to admit we started out at Home Depot but when we started getting the run-around, we looked elsewhere. We found Premier Doors on Yelp and decided to check it out. I was concerned about the price given the location but they actually came in about the same as the big box store AND took measurements AND came out when i had an issue installing one of the doors to fix it...for no additional charge. When we built our house in Los Altos, we were first introduced to a big company (not that Premier door is small) in San Jose promised of great price and all. After 3 meetings, we pretty much know the guy couldn't really help us even though he's been in the business for over 20 years. You can tell when one has the knowledge or just trying to sell some doors they got better commission on. Then we drove by Chris store and thought darn, Los Altos store? Must be expensive... but we went in hoping to get some ideas... but we got much more than that. Chris knows his stuffs. However, imo, money talks. It doesn't matter where you buy it from as long as it's the brand you want, and the lowest price. So we bought from Chris. And cheapscate like me, I shop on internet and I'm confidence I can find GREAT prices and I have done it! So just for the heck of it, I check my door lever price with him (front door and all interior doors) and my goodness... he can match or beat all of the online pricing. I was like, I got 40% off online and he still beat it? Done! Pros: Great service, good knowledge and good prices Cons: There are mistakes which can be communication issues, the point is Chris took ownership and solve the problems. Wrong door lever? He replaced it without any incur costs. One other issue is the delivery was late. It may not be all their faults and could be manufacturing and that's why I rated 4 instead of 5. read more

We got our door installed from these guys. The door and install is totally fine but be prepared for delays, excuses, and really bad customer service. The guy that works at the Los Altos showroom doesn't return phone calls/emails. I should have backed out early, like when the guy was a no-show, but ordered the door because I already had spent time picking out the door/hardware etc. They were way off the estimated install date when the door actually was ready, but even that required me to follow up to keep them on track. I would not recommend them and am never going back to them for the other doors we will replace. The install people were great and where they actually build/prep the door in Campbell was great. The guy at the showroom should probably look for another job that doesn't require planning and people interaction. read more

Premier Door Services replaced our condo door 1-2 yrs ago. The door was good, but communication was pretty challenging. It often required multiple calls to get a response from someone when the door was getting delayed. Also, there was an issue with the lock post installation and again it took ages to get someone to talk to and give a date for a contractor to come out and fix. Door quality and installation were good, but I'd prefer to work with someone more responsive next time. read more

After the obligatory trips to Home Depot and Lowes to try to save a coupla bucks, I gave up trying to schedule one of their sub-contractors to come out and simply measure the damn door. Quick trip out to the Los Altos show room - met with Chris and they had a large selection of stuff to choose from. Great hardware, too. Our visit was in mid-November, and they were very upfront about *not* being able to do the install before the holidays. That they were that busy turned out to be a good omen. When the door was finally ready in February, Pat came out to install it. Super nice guy, great installer, and very tidy. We almost didn't have to vacuum after he was finished. You will pay a bit more for your door than at the big box shops, but the quality and experience are easily worth it. Kudos to Premier. read more

I lost interest on a $5k deposit and was consistently lied to for the entire 9 months. I found the exact same door at Lowes and Home depot for 20% less and 40 day delivery guaranteed. I had doors ordered for my house, including closet doors for 12.000 dollars. For 1 closet they delivered the wrong size doors (too wide). I have been trying to contact them to solve the problem. I called them a dozen times, and went by their office. After calling them constantly after 3 weeks they told me they had the doors but didn't have time to paint them. I said ok but then I want a refund because I payed for painting and instal. One of the owners Mark told me that he wouldn't pay me back if anything I should be happy they helped me. These guys did a fantastic job installing a front door and a side door. Also, my home was built in 1926 and they had to replace some of the original hard wood flooring to install the door. I was very impressed they were able to get the new wood to blend in with the original. It's been 2 years since the install and so far so good. A year after the installation the front lock need a minor adjustment because it wasn't working as smoothly and they came right out to make the adjustment. We purchased interior doors for the bed and bathroom in our home which really updated the look nicely. Thrilled with their quality of workmanship, we had his-and-her closet doors installed, too. Everyone who sees the closet doors has nothing but great things to say. Finally, we had Premier Doors install a mantel which is beautiful. They painted all the doors and mantel with our selected choice of color and did exceptional installations, in a timely manner. I've worked with Chris several times who is always pleasant to work with. I am very picky, I'm insane when it comes to close attention to detail, and sometimes...hard to please. I've recommended them to our neighbors who took our advice for interior doors and they love them. Earlier this year Chris came to my home for measurements and to provide suggestions on a new Spanish style front door. Chris was on time and was very pleasant. In Feb 2018 I moved forward with leaving a deposit and placed an order for a Jeld Wen front door. I was told the door would arrive within 60 days and be scheduled for install shortly thereafter. After 60 days, I followed up to inquire about the status of the door. I was told Jeld Wen moved from their U.S. location to Tijuana Mexico and the door would be delayed a few more weeks. After a few more months I inquired about the status of the door and Chris mentioned the door was made using the wrong finish which would cause further delay. I was promised a discount and told the door would arrive near the end of July 2018. In July, I telephoned Premier Door Services where I left several messages and sent several emails to inquire about the status of the door. Nobody returned my calls and I received no email responses. In August 2018, I walked into Premier Doors where I cancelled my order and received a refund for my deposit. I'll let the reader by the judge of this experience. read more

I need my front door repaired and walked into their store. I set up an appt for the following Tuesday. Chris showed up and was very professional. He said he would have Mark call me to help with the start of the repair and would get me a quote by the end of the week. Never heard from Mark and when I called, Mark said he did not get any info from Chris who was out. He took a message and for the fourth time, Chris never called. I did reach him once and he promised a proposal the next day - that was over four weeks ago and it is still not here. I left another message last week and no return phone call. Chris arrived on time and walked us through a myriad of options including some masonry work that needed to be done to expand the doorway. We stopped by Premier on a Saturday based on a recommendation from Artistic Kitchen, the design company doing our kitchen remodel. Chris seemed helpful and we picked out a new front door with hardware. We scheduled an appointment the following Friday for an estimate. On Friday Mark, not Chris, showed up and couldn't read Chris' handwriting on the initial notes about what we wanted so we had to start from the beginning with him. This was not confidence inspiring and he did not appear to be overly competent. He promised that Chris would have a quote for us early the next week. By Thursday we had still heard nothing from Chris so we called. He did not answer and we left him a voicemail wondering when he would give us the quote. Late Friday afternoon we got tired of waiting and just as we sent him an email to tell him that we would be taking our business elsewhere he sent us an email stating that he still did not have our quote. We asked him when we could stop by to pick up a color sample we had left with him and he told us we could pick it up the next day. We picked up the sample and there was no apology for the lack of professionalism and utter disregard shown to us as prospective customers. Premier is apparently so successful they don't need your business. Avoid this business at all costs unless you would like to delay your door project by 2 or 3 weeks and enjoy getting the runaround from arrogant and unresponsive proprietors. read more

Sometimes, the value of a vendor is when things don't go perfectly, as happened with the installation of our new front door. At Premier Door Services in Los Altos, the shopping experience was great -- Mark was very helpful and the selection made our choice quick and easy. Installation had a few glitches: moulding around the door was missing, the door itself had some imperfections, the threshhold was incomplete, an additional door to the garage was missing a requested window, and during installation, some of the newly painted walls around the door were defaced. However, the company was responsive, attentive, thorough, and skilled in fixing all the problems. An artistic door painter came to touch up the flaws in the finish. Pat came twice to complete the finishing touches, and Joel finished the job of installing the side door window. So, even though there were issues, we were perfectly satisfied with Premier Door's efforts to make things right. We chose this company because of a recommendation of a friend, so we're happy to pass that recommendation along. read more

I really wanted to give these guys a 5* review but all I can muster is 1*. Their quality control and customer service are non-existent. I ordered a door with two sidelights, the glass in all sections to be the same. The sidelights came in wrong...twice. Once installation was complete I made final payment but withheld $500 until they return to fix the latch. That was a month ago and I am still waiting. I have made several calls to them and no one there can figure out how to pass messages to the appropriate person or get a simple repair made. There are lots of door companies to choose from. These guys are really good! They are friendly, helpful, and professional and the same can be said about their installers. We had a front door installed along with a couple of garage interior and exterior doors. They pay attention to detail and install it all including the hinges and door knobs. They also clean up their mess. Prices are comparable to the rest of the door service companies. They are busy so your lead time may be 3 months away, but it's certainly worth it. The showroom is nicely furnished with what you need for doors, along with samples and sample glass. John the salesperson is extremely helpful with a casual attentive aire about him which is what I like because I hate to be pressured. All his suggestions were right on the money and after living with our doors for the last 3 years, we don't have any complaints. read more

They provided excellent advice along the way. We did several changes to our orders it was never a problem. We had visited a few other stores including Viking in San Jose and we found their prices to be more expensive (yes) and the services to be far less detailed. They also provided temporary doors in order to help installing jambs earlier which was very helpful to our project. I would put five star if they provided a more precise lead time as a few deliveries were late - in our case it was not too much of a problem - still something they should watch a little better. read more

First, let me say: when it comes to replacement doors, go with a door specialist, not a general contractor. It's tricky getting old doors to fit/function perfectly in existing door frames. The people who work with doors, hinges, door handles, locks, strike plates, etc., everyday are the best at this. And since it's all they do, the good ones will take the time to do it right. I learned this the hard way, going with a contractor to save $1,200. It wasn't worth the aggravation, and I gave some of that savings back in rework - mainly on pocket door fixes (those things are useful...but they are painful to replace!). We went to a few local stores to see what was available and get quotes on a new set of double front doors (I knew I wanted door specialists to do this). As others have said, Premier is competitively priced despite the high rent location in Los Altos. They also take care of painting, which not all door installers do. This was important to me. I wanted one company to handle everything - including the painting. And since we live in Los Altos, we went with them. They also did a lot of casing work for us at a very reasonable price, as an add-on to the TM Cobb front doors. First the doors. The Cobb doors we picked from Premier are beautiful - and J did a perfect job putting them in, along with the threshold, weather stripping and new casings. The paint on the door is perfect. J saw some small paint flecks around the glass (which I noticed also...), and he went after them with a razor blade before I said anything. Both J and M did some "above and beyond" work, looking at some of the problems of the door replacements done by our contractors (which I asked them to do), and either just fixed them if it was a quick fix, or fixing them for a very reasonable cost (i.e., replacing pocket door rails). If I have to say anything negative, it took a tad longer than expected for things to arrive (the door, and a Baldwin hinge we ordered). And getting responses back on these things wasn't always quick or easy, between their production facility in San Jose, and the Los Altos store. But at the end of the day, that didn't matter a whit compared to everything else. And....every good contractor around here is busy, so some delays and delayed responses is pretty much to be expected when it comes to remodeling. I'll take great work with a few delays over average work on time, 7 days a week. read more

The true measure of a company is how they respond when things do NOT go according to plan. We ordered a fiberglass door from Chris and it worked perfectly for 6 months. Then, it got harder to close. Then it was completely misaligned. It turned out to be a manufacturer's defect. We called Chris. He came out the next day to inspect the door and without hesitation said he would not only replace the door, but paint it the same color with the same paint we had used and re-install it. Mark, who has 30 years' experience with doors said he'd be here on Tuesday morning at 8.30 AM - and he was! He custom-machined the holes for the door onsite so that there was a perfect fit and re-installed the Baldwin lock (that we also had purchased from Premiere Door). That type of service (with a big smile and a great sense of humor), in our opinion, is ABOVE AND BEYOND the call of duty. I needed a side garage door replaced with a high quality sturdy fiber glass door, on a fixed budget, and Premier Door Services did an excellent job. Chris was able to offer me the exact Thermatru door I wanted at the price I was limited to. They painted it the colors I wanted, and Mark installed it at the scheduled time, and even re-keyed my lock for me. The door looks great! I had looked at at least 6 other door providers, and their prices were way over what Chris offered, for the same door, some as much as 50% more! Most of the other providers weren't as responsive as Premier Door Services. Several of them didn't even call me back when I tried to get more info. I am very happy with Premier Door Services. Want the runaround? Love bait-and-switch tactics? Like being lied to?Then you'll love Premier Doors. Otherwise, I suggest you RUN, do not walk, away from this TERRIBLE, DISHONEST company. My experience with them could not possibly have been more horrible. In June, 2011, I called Chris Larsen at the Los Altos store (they have one in San Jose, too) when I needed a replacement for my double front doors. Chris came to my house, sketched and measured my doors, and explained to me that the cause of their splitting was sun exposure. He recommended composite doors and told me that they could replicate exactly the existing style. (I never asked for anything else.) About a week later, he sent me a quote for about $4,000. I accepted that quote in writing. A few days later, I stopped by the LA store and paid a $1,000 deposit. I was told it would be 4 - 6 weeks and they would call me when the doors came in. A few days after that, when I called Chris to ask for an approximate delivery date, he said that he had "made a mistake" in quoting me and was working on "a revised quote." I told him that I was sorry he made a mistake, but that I had accepted the original quote, had paid a deposit and I expected to receive what we had agreed on. In July, I called their Scheduling Department to ask when the doors would be delivered and never received a return call. In early August, having heard nothing, I emailed Chris to ask about delivery. He then responded by saying that he had put my order on hold because he had supposedly sent me a new quote for $7500 (!!) and I had not responded. I NEVER received any such thing from him. He said he had emailed me a new quote back in June which is completely untrue. Believe me, if he had sent me a new quote for $7500 in June, he would definitely have heard from me in June. Instead, I had no reason to believe my order was not on track and didn't find out until August 10th. It is now mid August, 2011. Chris claims that he suspended my order because I did not agree to a number that is $3500 HIGHER than the original quote that I accepted in writing and paid a $1000 deposit on. This is even though Chris never told me about the higher number. I will now have to start all over and get doors from a REPUTABLE company, one that stands by their word. And as for Premier Doors? I will, as they say, see them in court. Shame on you, Premier Doors, you guys are the WORST. Don't ever, ever use this company. read more

Unfortunately Premier Door Service does not provide premier service. The high point, Chris came on time for our appointment to see a front door and side door replacement. He provided us with an estimate and time of delivery for four to six weeks. I signed the contract and put down my deposit. After that it was all down hill! He was to provide samples of stain colors the following week. I never hear from Chris, so I call. He delivers stains that are not the requested colors a week later. I return his sample board and request another. He promises to deliver them to the house at the end of the week. They never are dropped off, so I call. He drops off another sample the following week. Three weeks to choose a color! I never hear from Chris and six weeks have passed. My doors should have been installed by now. I call again to find out the installation date. He informs me that the doors will be in the shop and ready to install in a couple of weeks. I never hear from him and two weeks pass. I call again and am told the scheduler will contact me. I'm contacted with a date five weeks out! I call Chris to say this is unacceptable and can that date be moved up. Nope! One door might be available to be installed in three weeks. Poor communication and false expectations. I cancelled my order! read more

Mark showed up on time for the first appointment to measure the door. Then when I had the door delivered (from a third party) they gave me an appointment for the very next morning for the installation. Came on time and installed the door perfectly. I have worked with Premier Doors on two different occasions. I have seen a lot of reviews with Chris in Los Altos but I have only worked with Mark and Jon in San Jose. Mark originally came in 2010 to measure and give us an estimate on 4 closets in our house. At the time we only wanted the Master Bedroom doors replaced. Since the space was so large they had to order custom doors and he gave us great advice on the best way to have the doors hang, etc. One of the wheels broke on the door a year later and Mark came out within a couple of days and repaired it. Fast forward to 12/13 we decided to get the other 3 closet doors replaced so I dug out the old estimate and emailed it to Jon to see if they would take the same price (Jon is very quick to respond on email). They basically did however they had to do a minor adjustment for materials. Mark came out and replaced all the doors in one day. Where I was really impressed is that we didn't like one of the floor strips they put in our hall so we asked if he could come back out and fix it. I had to put a couple of calls in but I nailed his schedule down and he fixed it perfectly. I think other companies would have said "to bad" but Mark really cares about his customers and making things right. I would highly recommend Premier Doors you might have to go out of your way (based on other reviews) and make a few calls and follow up calls to get an appointment but it is worth it. Based on other reviews it sounds like they just need to hire a secretary to keep everyone on point and the schedule running smoothly. If you are looking for great work, at a great cost and a lifetime warranty then give them a shot. read more

Don't waste your time. These guys showed up 15 minutes late for the first appointment. No phone call to let me know or apology when they finally did show up. I was a bit annoyed that they didn't bring any brochures just to narrow down a door style. I thought I'd give them a second chance to scheduled the follow-up appointment for Saturday at 10. I had to email them the day before to confirm (thought they would have acknowledged receipt of my email saying the time was fine...but nope). Waited around 25 minutes and they still didn't show. So I left. Technically, they are now 40 minutes late and still no phone call. What a waste of time. There are way better companies out there. I would not recommend this place to anyone! read more

I cannot say enough great things about this business. We had new double front doors installed as well as custom side lights. Premier Door did an excellent job. Other contractors wanted to tear out our existing framing. Premier Doors said, no need to do so, which saved $'s as well as prevented damage to our new venetian plaster walls. They also worked directly with the custom leaded glass artist to insure it was a perfect and seamless installation. I also selected hardware, which they installed, and then I decided I didn't like what I had selected. They let me pick something else and installed it for me, including swapping out the hinges, at no extra charge. They were very careful and neat while working. What a pleasure to find a business that conducts itself in this manner. They are beyond five stars. I would highly recommend them for any job. They are real pros. read more

Their showroom in Los Altos had samples of all the products of interest to us. Chris as very helpful in making our selection and came to the house to obtain measurements as scheduled. They replaced double front doors, painted to match the existing doors and using existing (new) hardware. The installation was done carefully and expertly.
