If there are TEN stars, I would give it to Pegasus! I bought a new place recently and didn't like the kitchen cabinets' color, along with a few other furnitures (audio rack, mantel, storage cabinet). I called a few different places based on Yelp reviews and Pegasus was the only one that agreed to come to give in person quote without asking for a promise to use them. Jose came to give me the quote in person. He was on time and brought samples of what the finish refinished product would look alike. Professional, efficient, and friendly. My type of business guy, great impression at first encounter. Price is very reasonable and similar to other quotes I got from the phone. Two months later, when my remodeling was in progress, I called Jose and scheduled for the job dates. His crew came, two guys (Tony and Ulisses), both super friendly and professional, started right away and properly covered and protect other areas in the house. PR did a fantastic job with my kitchen and bathroom cabinets! ~3 days to prep and paint frames and the interiors of our two glass front cabinets on site. ~2 weeks to sand and refinish the cabinet faces off site. A few weeks after the cabinets were reinstalled we noticed the dark cherry had bled through slightly on 1 door and 1 frame, but Paul and Jose quickly resolved the issue. Came highly recommended from a few people and they were correct. Probably not the cheapest option in town, but they do quality work and it is a good value. You'll be happy with the outcome. You can go to Jose's small showroom and he will do any kind of stain or paint or finish you like. Lots of colors and examples to see. They do a good job of protecting the rest of the house during the work, to keep the dust to a minimum. First three days was protection, sanding, removing the doors/drawers, priming and 3 coats of paint (power spray) on the cabinets. Then they came back about 3-3.5 weeks later with all the doors/drawers finished and put everything back into place, inside of 1 work day. Made sure the doors lined up/weren't crooked. Upon request, they even dropped off some extra shelf pins and a quart of extra paint for future touch-ups. Owner/manager Jose is very friendly and responsive. Same with the team he sends. He's not great at texting (but not a big deal), but if you call him directly, he's responsive. Would definitely recommend to others. read more

I give this rating because of what happened at the end of the project. Jose is not an honest business person - he says his work is guaranteed, but it isn't. We hired Jose/Pegasus based on the recommendation of a friend whose kitchen was just completed. They were very happy and it looked great. Jose came to our house, we visited his shop and signed the contract. Four weeks later, his crew did a very nice job removing the 35 doors and 18 drawer fronts, sanding and staining the cabinets. Four weeks later, another crew showed up with the sanded and stained doors and drawers, installed new drawer pulls and self closing hinges. A butcher block drawer was stained on the wrong side, so they took that back to the shop. The kitchen looked great. Four weeks later they returned with the butcher block and installed 8 more hinges at our request. This is where it gets interesting: we wanted new hinges because the old hinge clips were covered in stain. We showed the kitchen to a friend and he noticed that some of the old, stained clips had not been replaced. So I checked all 35 doors and to my surprise, all doors had one stained clip. We paid for all new hinges/clips and did not get it. When I brought this to Jose's attention (just after we made the final payment) he said no problem, we'll fix it. However, once the credit card payment cleared, we never heard from him again. Once we signed the contract, we never saw him again. read more

The worst customer service I've ever experienced, EVER. As with other reviewers, he came immediately to the estimate portion but the written estimate that he promised NEVER did come. I was a fool to do everything with a verbal agreement. Jose does not have a contractor's license. I checked with the Contractors State License Board and they said he cannot collect more than $500 for any job in a customer's home. Jose's rebuttal to that was "I have a license to do work in my shop so I don't need one in your home." His employee gave me an earful of nightmare stories. Jose sends them to jobs without the supplies and equipment needed for the job. They need to go by "the office" on their way so they never arrive less than 90 mins after I am told they'll be here. And the estimates of how long the work will take is more than 10 weeks underestimated. My own laminate inside my cabinets was ripped up and I was told "you can just cover than with wallpaper." I cannot pull out any of the "pull out" shelves that are inside my cabinets. The door hinges Jose uses interfers with them so I need to purchase offset hinges and apply them myself. Jose stretched the truth at the time of the estimate: "We'll cover up all of the laminate at the ends of the cabinets with 1/4" wood that will match the cabinets." Instead, the installer spray painted them to "match." I requested a sample of the sprayed stain so that I could cover up scratches down the road but never got any. "We'll remove all of the styles between the doors so that you can access the middle of the cabinets." (I was so happy about that!). NOT done. Hinges that were supposed to be self closing: some were, some were not. One drawer front was put on so badly that the first time I tried to open it, it was hanging off. Since it's nailed in with 20 or so pin nails, I can't even get it off well enough to repair the drawer. In fact, I can't open the drawer. And, WORST OF ALL: The drawer fronts on one entire side of the kitchen are cut over an inch too wide. The installer said that new drawer fronts were ordered (thus a 3 week delay), never came. So, I cannot get my fingers into the space to the left or right of these drawers to open them. I have to use an implement to open these drawers. On the final day when everything was supposed to be put in order, Jose showed up (first time since he did the erroneous measurements) for his final pay check. Since the list of incompletions above were not met, he didn't get his final payment. He does not return texts or phone calls either at all or, if he does, it's days and days later. Do not believe a word he tells you at the estimate. read more

The estimate provided by Jose was on target, the in-house work took 3-4 days as planned and 3-4 weeks for the doors and cabinets to come back and installed. I also had some cabinet modifications and those came out awesome. I took out an old trash compactor and turned it into a towel holder and trash bin as well as took out an old mini fridge and replaced it with an undercounter microwave and drawer. In my kitchen I have the original cabinets installed in 1962, my neighbor told me "they look as new". Indeed they were solid red oak wood of high quality, only underneath the sink and the oven they showed some wear and tear, plus they do not have the latest mechanical closing features. The proposals I received from various remodeling firms and cabinet makers, all proposed replacement varying between $12K to $45K. The replacements varied from plastic covered particle board to Chinese veneer, all significantly inferior to what I had. So I went to Pegasus Refinishing. The challenge was that the modern hinges are for either doors all "outside or all inside the frame", where my doors are partially inside and outside the frame, as many of the earlier high quality cabinets. Pegasus worked with me and their hinge supplier to find a solution with modern European hinges refinishing the existing solid oak cabinet doors and drawers, and I cannot be happier with the result. We got our kitchen cabinet refacing done from Pegasus. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend them. Our cabinets were stained oak before. When we went to Pegasus we did not know what we really wanted and they helped us figure out the best thing for us. We ended up changing the cabinet doors to maple wood (shaker style) and grain-filled the oak frame to make it look smooth like the maple doors. Yeah we know a whole lot of cabinet refacing now! :) Paul was very responsive through all stages of the job - choosing the right doors, paint, scheduling and co-ordinating the work. We could always count on him to reply within a reasonable amount of time. Jose was very helpful as well. In the beginning he spent over an hour with us when we had not signed with them, explaining to us the various useful contraptions we can use in our kitchen and addressing other questions we had. Upon recommendations from Jose, we replaced 2 doors with pull-out trolleys and installed a spice rack as well, which is very convenient. After the job was done we found that some of the cabinet handles were misaligned and they returned to fix them without any issues. Paul made sure the painting job was done before our countertop was installed the next morning. The painters worked late into the night to make that happen. There are a couple of things that they could have improved upon. 1. The screws that go into the drawers are not flush or the wood is cracked in some places where the screws go in. 2. Just after the cabinet painting was done we noticed a side of a cabinet was left unpainted. They immediately painted it but had removed all the covers by then, so the paint got sprayed on some things but fortunately it wasn't too bad. I would recommend Pegasus to anyone who wants to get their cabinets redone! read more

This review is overdue! Thank you, Jose, and team, for transforming my dated maple cabinets (28 years old!) into beautiful, contemporary cabinets that bring me joy every day! Jose was great to work with, he came to my house and provided a written estimate and advised on preferred soft whites (we chose Swiss Coffee) - we also selected two accent areas and he advised for this as well. When the job started, they took all the doors and drawers to the shop for painting, and the parts that could not be removed (cabinet bases, facia, etc.) were painted in my home by Jose and Heriberto. They spent 2.5 days sanding and painting, and carefully sealed off the working area from the rest of the room. They were professional and worked two long days to get that part done. The process takes a few weeks, Jose advises of this upfront. I also wanted to replace the plain glass in my upper cabinets. Jose managed this for us, taking our doors to a partner (Able Glass) and returning to us with beautiful Franciscan glass. Three of my hinges didn't survive the job.... Jose had suggested I replace all the hinges as they were old, but I declined his suggestion. Nevertheless, he is coming out to install the new hinges which is appreciated. I mention this because even though the job was finished in late November, he has been so nice to come back and help me with the hinges, which I should have replaced in the first place. They also replaced my standard shelves under stovetop with new pullouts which are a nice enhancement. I would highly recommend Jose and Pegasus Refinishing if you want a lovely result.
