First and foremost, this company is absolutely horrible to get ahold of. You are always put on hold sometimes for over an hour. I hang up after an hour and would have to call back on another day. When we called to inform them that I would not be using their service anymore but going to another company it took over 50 minutes to do so. They didn't ask why we were changing or how they could keep our business. My husband and I both felt they didn't care. I have been trying for almost a year to become more mobile with my oxygen. Preferred gave with bulky tanks in a dolly with wheels. Can I just say that makes it really hard to go anywhere? Not to mention, it only lasts about 3 hours. They would not get me a more mobile oxygen concentrator. I, therefore, had to go to another company to get a mobile oxygen concentrator. It is a rechargeable one and comes with a charger for home and car use. I must say, however, that all the employees that came to my home were kind, cordial, and knowledgeable. They too could not understand why I could not get a mobile oxygen concentrator. I was informed that they are often yelled at because the office is so terrible at returning phone calls or even answering the phone. It is because of these employees that I left two stars. They deserve more but the company does not. Let's just say I am breathing easier since getting a new company. read more

It is extremely hard to get ahold of someone in office. I got transferred to someone out of Las Vegas and it was such a hassle to be honest. I went to pick up our order because they could not deliver it to me in a timely manner. They showed up to my house without notice after a week and a half. Thankfully I was home to receive extra supplies. I called to get the equipment picket up and it took them nearly 3 weeks to come to home , after numerous cancellations because of miscommunications on their end. I basically waited for them for a week and did not leave my house, because I had to sign off on the equipment. HUGE hassle. The equipment was kind of loud but I'm sure that's normal for that type of machine. read more

VPap supplies ordered 10/28. It's 12/11 and still no supplies. I've called 3 more times, each time I was promised they were shipped. They had no problem sending me the bill. It got here the week after the order was placed. Insurance has paid for the supplies I haven't received. I feel this falls under the crime of fraud and elder abuse. read more

Unfortunately, Preferred is anything but preferred. Their CPAP supply ordering process makes me want to puke every time I go through their song and dance. They don't carry parts locally, except for a limited supply of masks, unlike other providers where you can get a kit locally. Billing sucks, and has gotten worse since Lincare bought them. The drivers/delivery personnel are very nice as are the office staff. However I give them very low marks because it is extremely hard to place an order with them. I am on 5/6 liters of oxygen 24/7. When at home I have a compressor, but when I go out I need to take my E tanks. I had a travel concentrator but they took that away and told me I can have either E tanks or travel concentrator with only one battery, so I took the E tanks. Now I have to call them weekly for refills, I have been on the phone up to 1 hour waiting for the order desk. If their operators takes your name for a return call, for get it, they never call you back. They make it extremely difficult for older disabled patients to get the oxygen they need. Very poor service, I would not recommend them, but this is the only company that my insurance authorized. I wish I could just take my empty tanks to their office and exchange for full ones, but that is not allowed. It also would be easier if they had a computer program that you could order online and get it the next day. In fact they should let Amazon take over their home delivery process!! After reading other reviews you would think the company would try to improve their order process. I finally got a hold of the order desk on Wednesday, they promised I would receive my order on Thursday, but no call, no show. Now it's Friday and I don't have enough for the weekend. David gave me all the wrong equipment. I explained a bad situation in my past. He came back with exactly what I told him I didn't want. He sent me home with all the wrong stuff. When I tried to use my oxygen equipment for my CPAP nothing worked. I had to call the emergency number. The guy said he always dies it. Even after I had to go back to see him myself a second time because he had given me the wrong bag I guess after he sent me home after leaving the office. It's a wonder he had a job. He definitely did know he liked my Siberia husky though. After being stalked by my x husband. Abs having to leave my home. I had to turn in my equipment because I didn't use it properly I guess. Their telling me. They penalized me. Apparently domestic violence doesn't matter they kept it. I had to run again. But David and his company turned me into collections. I gave all the equipment back. They cleared up the collections with their company. They kept the equipment. Everyone won. But us domestic violence survivor. Now I'm not getting help for my sleep apnea or my brain trama either. Want to tell someone your father just died, and have them be unkind and rude about it? Call Preferred Home Care! My father passed away last week. My mom called on Monday of this week and was told the O2 tanks and other DME equipment would be picked up Tuesday morning by 8, and the driver would call first. 8,9, and 10 came and went. I needed to leave the house, so I called to reschedule the pickup. I called around noon, and rescheduled the pickup for Wednesday. She didn't tell me at that time that someone had already been out to the house that morning. I had been home all morning, and nobody called (I double checked caller ID), and nobody rang the bell, yet there was a, "we missed you" sign on our front door, with a time of 10:34am. Nobody rang the bell. We have dogs. When the doorbell rings, the kraken is released; nobody misses a ringing bell around here. Lol So, driver came out but didn't ring the bell. I assume because the tanks weren't out by the front door. I had told the rep that the tanks were not by the front door; I moved all of them into the driveway and in front of the garages. I specifically said I did that so the driver didn't have to make several trips up the long path to our front door. She thanked me for that-there was a whole thing over where I was leaving the equipment; there should have never been a misunderstanding about that. Anyway, after I found the note several hours after I had spoken to them, I was concerned they weren't going to come at the rescheduled time I had set up. So. I call back on Wednesday morning and tell the rep what's going on, and she tells me there's no issue, and the driver was, "on route" to my house as we were speaking, to get the tanks. I AGAIN reiterated the location of the tanks, and she said she was, "emailing" not texting, the driver to let them know where the tanks were. I told her she was, "amazing", thanked her and hung up happy. Until... Three hours later I get home and what do I see?? MFing O2 tanks STILL SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY. So I have to call back. Which shouldn't be a big deal, except every time, I have to listen to the stupid HIPPA message, press this and press that, and then get put on hold. Everything about this company has been inconvenient. I call and talk to, Laurie, who has the manners, empathy, and compassion of a brick. One of the absolute rudest things any person can do, in my opinion, is interrupt and talk over someone else. Because the location of the tanks has seemingly stumped the collective brain-power (or lack thereof), over there, and they're evidently too lazy to walk 30 steps and look around to see if they can see the tanks, I was trying to tell her where they were located. I needed them to listen and hear me, which they were not doing. When I called, I was annoyed. I was not mad, and I was not nasty with them. Until she cut me off and started speaking over me, that is. I had just told her my Dad died, and I had already made several calls over this, and she takes a big 'ol IDGAF sigh, and quips, "I don't know what's going on, I have to get a manager." WHILE. I. WAS. SPEAKING. And then when I asker her to let me finish, she sarcastically said, "go ahead" and I could feel her eyes rolling into the back of her sullen little skull, even over the phone. Then, again, in the middle of me speaking, she cut me off and put me on hold-I was talking and didn't realize it at first until I heard the hold music. Real nice. Manager comes on and has zero apologies for my inconvenience, zero respect for me and my situation, and zero answers as to why something so simple has turned into a nightmare. Bish tells me driver called and rang the bell today, which is a flat out lie. Caller ID shows no call, and two people were home all morning, and both say nobody came out. Which matches why there was no, "we missed you" tag on the door today. But there was yesterday? Someone's fibbing. Spoiler alert: it's not me. I have been told a driver is being sent back out to the house today, Wednesday, and get the tanks. I flat out told her if these tanks are not picked up TODAY, I am loading them all in my car and delivering them tomorrow, and I promise they do NOT want me down there in person; I HATE that I have to be pushed and forced into being a shrew, just to be taken seriously. I said: These f***ers had better be out of my driveway TODAY, thank you." At that time the call was mutually disconnected. To help them, I added some signage, as to not have another set of unforeseen miscommunications. All one has to do is follow the arrows and, voila! () ! It's absolutely astonishing that I have to needlessly deal with this. If you can, I'd stay away from this company, as they do not care about professionalism, communication, integrity, or efficiency. Unfortunately our Dr writes the orders for us to get our equipment from here (They must get a kickback cause i've asked for another option). They say they will call you back in just a few hours and NEVER do. And if you go down there and get someone in person they are NO help either and say "We will have someone call you" Yea right heard it 4 times now. My wife can't walk due to having amputation and has been waiting for a wheelchair for 3 weeks and still getting the run around. My son has had an O2 consentrator for almost 2 years, when I called to get another nasal cannula I was told by the Supervisor "Irene" that we did not have any equipment. When I tried to give her the serial number she kept rudly talking over me. To make a very long story shorter, she hung up on me 3 times. I advised on the last call that I too was recording the call, she said you don't have my permission and hung up (again). Then I spoke to Cameron, he said they don't show I have equipment, wow their inventory is horrible if they have been missing a machine for over 19 months and don't know about it. They refuse to bring out a nasal cannual and told me to go to ER. Wow, I asked if they would pay the co-payment for their error and of course they said NO!! This is without a doubt THE worst oxygen supply company I've had to use. I've been on O2 for the past few years and get tanks exchanged every couple weeks. I called a little after hours the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, wanting to know when they will be coming out for tank exchange to my town. The after hours person assured me they would be delivering on Friday. I call the next day to schedule and they say they won't be open again until Monday. They say there's nothing they can do except send a message to the Reno office and 'someone' will call me back. I've heard that one twice before, so I know it just means 'F off'. So I call again and get no help or sympathy or problem solving of any kind. I told them I would run out of tanks and it was not my fault the after hours guy was wrong. They told me again that 'someone' would call me. I finally call again and pitch a fit and they call me back and say the driver would be out that evening between 6 and 11pm. At 10:30, I called to check and am told that is not happening and they will deliver on Monday. So they flat out lied to me so I would go away. And this is aside from them consistently sending the wrong cannulas that I order. They don't give a damn about their customers. The guy says I'll just have to use my concentrator--umm, idiot, I work!! I will pay out of pocket if I have to but Monday morning I will be finding another company and reporting these sadists to whoever has oversight of them, including the BBB. I've been an RN for 34 years and have never seen such little compassion and professionalism from anyone involved in healthcare. The actual drivers who deliver supplies are the only ones I've dealt with that have any sense of compassion or morality with the customers. If I could give those guys 5 stars, I would. I was put on oxygen by my Pulmonologist and through my insurance they signed me up with Preferred Home Care. They are based in Las Vegas or out of state. To order oxygen, you had to call Las Vegas and they would deliver in Reno. First of all, they would take 1/2 to 1 hour to answer their phone in Las Vegas or you would get cut off, and half the time they did not get the message to Reno to deliver. The final straw was when I took oxygen bottles down on a Friday afternoon and they refused to exchange them (not open weekends). They had forgotten to get the message to Reno and were afraid they wouldn't get paid. It could have been a serious situation for someone else. There are other medical supply stores in Reno. Cigna out sources to PHC and has had numerous complaints but does nothing about. Found ostomy supplies on Amazon which are scheduled to arrive on 9-17-20. I had the unfortunate circumstance of having to use Preferred Homecare for oxygen after contracting COVID-19. The customer service representatives, when calling their main number, are an absolute nightmare to work with. Each and every representative I dealt with were mean, rude and nasty and were giving free medical advice even though none of them were a licensed, registered or practicing physician or nurse. They had no clue as to what my personal medical needs were but that didn't stop them from telling me what I needed and what I couldn't get, even though my doctor prescribed it! It took nearly three (3) weeks to finally get them to provide me with the equipment my doctor ordered and then was told, before I could change from big huge tanks to traveling tanks, I needed to be an active customer, first it was 60 days, then the next person told me it had to be 90 days, before being eligible to change! On top of having to deal with that, I was forced into having my monthly charges withdrawn directly from my bank account and was told this was not an option, it was the only way they would accept payments SO, low and behold, four months AFTER returning the equipment, and making monthly contributions to their account, in the mail today I received a bill for their services, including an extra month, stating they never received a payment! This place is a joke! I will NEVER use Preferred Homecare again and can't wait to talk to the billing department and give them a piece of my mind! In my opinion, one star is one star to many for this business - DON'T use them if you don't have too! read more

Absolutely horrible! Staff is incredibly rude, doesn't place the orders requested, bills for items not received and won't answer any questions. They refer you to an 800 number whose staff members cut you off continuously. If there were a negative rating, they'd get a -100. Not worth wasting your time.
