Preferred Ford states that this is normal operation. 2011 Fusion that nearly burned to the ground after this pulley failed.

They only care about the sale. Bought a 2011 Ford Fusion new from them 1.5 years ago. The car had transmission issues since new (slamming into gears upon acceleration and downshifts when coming to a stop, and occasional slipping where it is like the car goes into neutral). Took it to them several times, and each time they stated it was normal operation for the car and they refused to do anything to fix. The transmission issues are well-known by Ford (google it), and yet dealers refuse to acknowledge the problem. Two months later, there is a loud whine coming from the engine bay that matches RPM (think the sound you get when your power steering fluid is low). Upon some simple investigation, it turns out the problem is another well-known issue with these cars; the tensioner pulley bearing failing. Once again, Preferred Ford (and other local Ford dealers) refuse to do anything about it, even though the car is under warranty. They stated that the repairs would NOT be covered under warranty until the parts (transmission or pulley) physically fail to where the car cannot be driven. I have tried several times to get these issues repaired under warranty from both Preferred Ford and other local Ford dealers to no avail. Only once my cars powertrain warranty expired (another sham as they told me when buying I had a 100,000 mile warranty, when it turned out after signing it was only 36,000 miles) did they admit there is a problem. Fast forward to today... The whining pulley that they stated was perfectly normal MELTED and caught on fire, causing the engine bay insulation to catch on fire nearly burning the whole car down. Preferred Ford will gladly fix it now with money out of my pocket now that the car is out of warranty. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS DEALER!!!!!! Btw, other fun problems with this dealer.... They never notified the SOS that the car was purchased or transferred my plates, so two days after I bought the car, I was pulled over by GH Public Safety and initially treated like I stole the car and ticketed for driving it with invalid plates (Preferred told me to just put my plates from my jeep on it since they supposedly transferred the plates). They also only gave me one key and tried charging me several hundred for the second key. It took a year to get the second key free of charge.

We purchased a 2012 Volkswagen Passat with 99k miles on it at the end of January 2025 from members…read moreof our church who never had a problem with this car and kept excellent maintenance records. This was going to be our extra / commuter car for when I am not traveling for work which is very limited. My wife took this car to Global Autoworks approximately 2 weeks later in mid-February for an oil change. Global Autoworks charged her $289 and she was shocked (I was out of town for work) and she questioned the exorbitant price and was told that is what it costs. She paid them. When I returned home after traveling several weeks later I examined the 9 page invoice that showed $106 in "parts" NOT itemized and @ $120 for a diagnostic test that we never requested or authorized. it also had numerous other suggested repair items that we never asked for. Shortly after bringing our car home my wife told me this vehicle was leaking all over our driveway and newly refinished and coated garage floor (we paid over $3,000 in October to have our garage floor coated). I told my wife NOT to go back to Global Autoworks but we contacted a family friend who has 15 years experience as a certified Volkswagen mechanic. Our friend inspected our Volkswagen Passat and found that Global Autoworks improperly installed the oil filter causing the gasket to crimp which left a gap where the oil was leaking all over. Our mechanic re-installed the oil filter correctly and also replaced the Vacuum pump for $530 which Global Autoworks quoted $3,300 to replace the Vacuum pump (this is from the diagnostic test that we did not request or authorize). We contacted the owner, Steve, at Global Autoworks and sent him emails with the photos of the improperly installed oil filter and the damage to our driveway and garage floor-he did not respond. My wife went to Global Autoworks with our mechanic friend but Steve was not available. The following day I called several times and left messages. I eventually talked to Steve and advised him of the oil leak and the damage. Steve insisted on inspecting our vehicle and arranged to have it towed to his shop which was done that same day- a Friday. After not hearing back from Steve on Monday morning I called several times and left messages and Steve was never available (even though he emailed my wife saying they were working on our vehicle). Steve got on the phone after I told the receptionist that I was going to file a complaint with the Michigan Secretary of State. I told Steve that he was not authorized to do any repairs but only to inspect the vehicle. Steve said they could not find any leak. I told Steve that they would not find a leak because a certified Volkswagen mechanic with 15 years of experience found the leak and fixed it. Steve refused to accept any responsibility and was upset that my wife did not bring our vehicle back to his shop after he started leaking oil. I told Steve there was no way I would let her return to a shop that charged $289 for an oil change including a diagnostic test that we did not request or authorize. As well as the fact that his shop could not even do the oil change correctly which caused substantial damage to our driveway and newly refinished garage floor. I had to pay for a tow truck to bring our vehicle back to our mechanic. Steve sent a follow up email denying any responsibility because his shop could not find any leak even though we advised him in writing and verbally that the leak was fixed by a certified mechanic. I will be filing a complaint with the Michigan Secretary of State. BEWARE - DO NOT DO BUSINESS with Global Autoworks!

I had an alternator fail on my GL320. GA replaced and corrected that problem effectively and…read moreefficiently. Later the car started shredding serpentine belts. They replaced the tensioner pulley and the belt. it happened two more times. It was eventually determined the alternator pulley was the culprit. They fully refunded the repair costs caused by the bad alt pulley and I didn't even need to ask. It took a few trips in but they always took care of me, the towing, and my transportation needs. That is a level of care and integrity seldom seen today. It is usually a complete waste of time to even ask if a shop will accept responsibility for a mistake, that is not the case at Global Autoworks. I drive from muskegon and pass many shops to get there. I am sold on the service, care and integrity.
