Bottom line: DO NOT USE Preferred Carpet Cleaning. They ruined my rug. I discovered this "service" from a living social deal and John, the owner, lured me in with a very good price on a cleaning for my 8' x 10' area rug. The rug was in good condition but could use a refresher (since its gray and I felt had picked up some dirt). After arriving more than an hour late, his guy came in and "cleaned" my rug with a large and to be honest, bad smelling contraption. It appeared when he was finished that the rug looked a bit brighter than before, but the next day, after it had dried there were more than a dozen BROWN WATER MARKS all over my rug AND a MILDEW smell permeating throughout my apartment. I was leaving on vacation in 4 days and called John frantically for an explanation and so he could fix this problem and he said there were no appointments in the time before I was leaving and to call back when I returned so he could come personally and take care of the problem. Well....I gave John 10 chances to redeem himself (that's how many time I've called him over the past week so make a follow up appointment) but he has not answered the phone a single time or returned my call after 2 messages. This was the biggest waste of money I've ever spent! My rug now looks horrible (I've included pictures of the stains that are all over the rug). If you care at all about your rugs/carpets...stay away from Preferred Carpet! read more

These guys are awesome! Glenn came in, almost an hour early and did a fantastic job. I honestly didn't know where to start when I realized I needed my white, micro fiber couch needed to be cleaned. I yelp'd.... and I stumbled upon Preferred. I called a few of the other "top ranked" companies on yelp and they quoted my $250 and $175 for my L shaped couch, then I called preferred and they $150 and could come the same week! The other places I had to wait 3 weeks! My couch is also known as my 75lb pitbull's dog bed and Glenn literally made it look brand new! He was in and out in about an hour! John has been cleaning my home carpets regularly for the last 4 years and is always on time or early and does an amazing job cleaning our carpets and furniture. The one time we did have a small complaint where he missed a spot he was back within 2 days and redid the entire job again for free !! If it wasn't for john restoring my couches to like new, my wife would have made me buy new ones. I am so happy with Preferred Carpet Cleanings job in my house I have recently contracted them to clean the carpets on my 85' dinner yacht, twice a month. They have removed stains, ground in candy and gum and other horrible things from the yachts carpet that we thought would never come out ! And his prices are very fair. read more

It seems like this is hit or miss based on who comes to your house. We got an Amazon Local voucher for $40 for 3 large area rugs. I wish I could remember the guy's name who came to clean but he was probably the nicest guy I ever met and did an amazing job on all 3 of our rugs. I purchased a Living Social deal for a carpet/upholstery cleaning. I attempted to schedule an appointment to utilize this deal to no avail. Over the course of several months, I have placed approximately 2 dozen calls and left multiple voicemails. Thinking perhaps email would be easier for this vendor, I emailed through their website. I have yet to receive ANY response from any of my attempts to contact them. One time I did connect with a live person: he took my information and requested he call me back at 7 pm that evening. No one ever returned that call. I am flabbergasted at the lack of customer service. Living Social ultimately refunded my coupon and I have filed a case with them to register my complaint. I used preferred carpet cleaning about three years ago. They did a great job on cleaning the carpets for three bedrooms and a large basement. My wood floors were dull even after trying all types of wood cleaning products but after John treated them, it looked awesome. I reached out to John last week to have my kitchen and 3 bathroom floor tiles cleaned. Apparently, my tenants never used a mop during the two years they lived in my house because the grout was greasy and BLACK. After a good cleaning, it now looks pretty new. I don't know what companies those 1 star people used but they MUST be confused. I have been using Preferred Carpet Cleaning for at least 4 years now and I have NEVER had a bad experience. Whoever comes has always been professional and courteous and VERY knowledgeable. They also only use non chemical products. I asked as I have 2 animals and was concerned. On my most recent visit from Preferred, my carpeting AND upholstery turned out beautifully and ALWAYS for a good price. Even though I had just had my couch thoroughly cleaned by Glenn from Preferred Carpet Cleaning three months ago, my dogs unfortunately had the times of their lives staining my couch again in those three months. Fun for them, ugh for me! I called John at Preferred without even thinking twice about it and was shocked to find that he still remembered me from my last appointment! I only gave him my name and he instantly remembered where I lived and the fact that I had requested to have my couch cleaned on a Sunday the last time due to my busy work schedule. Wow, I mean, wow - talk about customer service skills! I requested to have Glenn come over to clean my couch again since I was so satisfied with the job he did the last time and was happy to see that he didn't disappoint the second time around. Once again, Glenn was on time, friendly, ready to work, and INCREDIBLY courteous and respectful of our household and belongings - he also had smile on his face from beginning to end just like he did the first time I met him. Late arrival.....nice enough tech but carpets were still wet 24 hrs later since they did not use their supposed "rotorvac" tool...I was told it was extra from the advertised rate although their card indicates that is what they use to separate themselves from other similar services. I was so happy with the job that Preferred Carpet Cleaning did on my kitchen tiles that I called to leave a message after the service thanking them. WARNING!!!!! Absolutely, the worst service! After I spoke with John on the phone, I felt comforted knowing that his business was a "family-owned" operation. He gave me all of the assurances I needed to decide to choose his company over all of the other cleaning services available in the neighborhood. His team (two young high school kids, no John) arrived on time, and they were very sweet and tried to do the right thing. However, John had never provided the details that I explained to him over the phone -- the fabric, the weaving of the rug -- so they had no idea how to handle it. They were hired to both clean our leather couch and our rug, and both were a disasters. For the couch, the kids came supplied with a car wash products that they clearly had purchased before showing up. There was no additional harm done to the leather, but it there was clearly no change, but I was disappointed after John assured me that he could resolve the issue. Still, I wasn't charged, so I got over it. However, for my rug, the boys tried to use an old, industrial cleaner and it was completely destroyed. The off-white rug was completely saturated with old, dirty water and the dirt basically was pushed to the sides. In an attempt to suck up the water, all of the weaving on the rug was destroyed. After they spoke to John and provided him an update on my strong disapproval, I was told that they would pick it up the next day and clean it at their location for free. Next day, no phone call. Not to mention that John decided to block all my calls. So now I was stuck with a soaked, ruined carpet and no option to either correct the mistake or get reimbursed. Very, very disappointed to see how a "professional" cleaning service can react and handle customer service. I'm still shaking my head that John would be willing to discredit his family run business by blocking a customers phone call. Nice work, John! Your dad would be proud. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY..THEY LIE!!!..john took my rug n said he would clean it..he said it take a few days..few day passed I didn't hear from him..I called a million times..no response. ..weeks passed he called n told me tht his vav was stolen with my rug..he would let me know if I can go to his friends shop n pick out a new rug..went to his fren shop but he didn't hv the rug tht I needed..so john said he would order my rug fr lakeshore weeks later he said the cops found his van n he would clean my rug n get it to me in a few days..week went by..I got upset n left messages n texts. .he finally text n said call glen to set up a delivery date..called glen n he said john hd my rug n he was out of town..a big run a round..so I got upset n text john n told thf I would never do biznis with him again. .all this while john said the rug was being cleaned n drying..tht sat after I left messages..I came home n saw my rug outside dirty n stained. I called this company last Tuesday (after countless requests for a quote via their website with no response) whoever answered the phone which I'm assuming was John, made an appt with me for today Thursday AM between 8-10am.. Well it's Thursday.. After my husband stacked our furniture to the side and made everything comfortable for them to clean the carpet ..No show.. No call.. I called him about 11:30 and asked what was going on and he said to give him about 10 min to call the driver to see where he is.. Again, no return call... I later texted and asked what was going on and no response... What a terrible way to do business.. People take off work..
