I took my car here for a CVT transmission drain and fill because they were closer than the Subaru dealership and I thought it would be more convenient. They quoted me $470 for the service, while the Subaru dealership charges $350 for the same job. I agreed to it because I expected faster service and better convenience. I had an 8 AM appointment and was told the service would take about an hour and a half. After hearing nothing for hours, I called around 1 PM and was told they were just starting on the car. I came back at 4:30 PM and it still wasn't finished. Finally, at 6 PM, right before closing, they called and said it was ready. Since they called at closing time, I wasn't able to pick the car up until the next day. To their credit, they did take $15 off the bill (military discount) and offered a free car wash, but that didn't make up for the lack of communication, the all-day delay, and the higher price compared to the dealership. What's disappointing is this shop used to be reasonably priced and known for fast service, but that clearly isn't the case anymore. I would not recommend this shop based on my experience. Save yourself the time and money and go to the dealership or find another shop. read more

It has been 70 days since we took our Ram 1500 truck to be serviced. As a wife with no car stranded and unable to work this is unacceptable. We've also had a move out of town and did not have our truck. Communication is horrible. We were just lied to on the telephone. They closed out a claim without notifying us and got paid. As a long-time Precision Tune customer and VIP Member, my family learnt to trust the advice provided throughout the years. Within the last year, this earned trust has been taken advantage of and is now lost. This year there have been two major concerns for my wife's 2014 Nissan Pathfinder: 1. Knocking in the driver's side wheel 2. Engine skipping while driving in slower conditions. However, despite spending a total of $5,160.00 on the engine skip, and $480.35 on the wheel control arm to fix the knocking AND repeatedly bringing the car into Precision Tune AFTER two transmission replacements to prove that there is a continued engine skip AND wheel well knocking management continued to advise that the problem was fixed. After attempting to charge me, they provided NUMEROUS diagnostics and management's answer for the skipping was to replace a torque motor mount for $783.80 to address the skipping and as or the knocking, the answer was that nothing was knocking in the wheel well. The car continued and continues to exhibit the same issues. The most recent manager advised that reason for the continued skipping is due to a catalytic converter needing replaced. David advised that he "fixed" the knocking free of charge, which did not happen. The knocking seems louder now than before. Though David is polite, his word that he would call me back in 10 minutes on 3 occasions proved false. It literally took a week each time he said 10 minutes. Each manager has been "SURE" that their analysis is correct. I am highly disappointed that the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder continues to have the SAME issues, after 4 managers and spending $6,424.15. Of the last 6 months, Precision Tune has had my wife's car in their possession longer than we have and the problems still persist. My wife has been without her car for an extended period of time, having to share vehicles with family members and adjust schedules to accommodate the ongoing repairs. Despite being assured multiple times that the problem had been fixed, the knocking and stuttering persist, making the vehicle unreliable and unsafe to drive. At this point, I have expended well over $6000 in repair costs with Precision Tune and have yet to see a resolution to the initial problem. I am extremely frustrated with the lack of progress and the inconvenience this situation has caused my family and my pocket. I am requested that Precision Tune either fixes the issue with my car promptly with no additional charge or provide compensation for the total sum of money I have spent on unsuccessful repairs. Precision Tune has yet to answer calls or emails regarding this matter. read more

This place is a nightmare, if you value your time and money, run! The only reason it gets 1 star is because the girl working the desk and phones was very nice and cooperative. I took my BMW here because it was smoking under the hood and I was told by my care warranty coverage facility that this is one of the places that is within network and works on foreign vehicles, I was skeptical because I I personally would not even use this place as my first choice, but I went with the warranty companies recommendation. I took the car there, 2 weeks later the valve cover is fixed (with me calling every day to get an update on my own because nobody called me) I get there to pick it up and the check engine light is on this is a new issue, so the mechanic is like bring it back Monday and ill run some test and see what is going on, because its 6 o clock on Friday and they want to go home. I take the truck back Monday (again calling every day for a update) they say it's the solenoid sensors that need to be replaced, replace those and check engine light is still on, its Thursday now and my husband calls and the manager is off and they have a interim manager so I called and talked to him and explained my frustration. He stated that he would talk to the manager when he came back in. The original manager comes in and calls my husband and states the car will be ready tomorrow (Friday) which it wasn't, so I went to the facility in person on Saturday and talked to the mechanic. My first question was is my car going to be ready today. He says honestly NO, and he doesn't have time to look at it and I am not the only customer he has and how the interim manager says that I cursed him out on the phone and call calls are recorded (which I did not and I insisted that he run the call and listed for himself) and the parts place is not open today (keep in mind if the car needed parts no one informed me) He went on and on and was very rude I said well I need to update the warranty company and I will call the while I am here so it want be a he say she say, he states " I don't have time to sit and talk on a phone, and I can close my ticket and get my keys and just take the car and he is at his wits end with the car and doesn't know why the check engine light is on and he has called his mechanic buddies and none of them know either". When I tell you I was furious because if he didn't know what he was doing he should have just put his pride to the side 3 weeks earlier and I would have respected that more. Long story short I ended up taking my car to BMW service center in Columbia and paid out of pocket to fix the mechanics stupidity. read more

5 1/2 hrs to do a check engine light diagnosis, if I broke down in front of Precision tune I would still get towed somewhere else!!

They had the car for 72 days, bought three transmissions before one worked, every time we turned around it was another issue and charge. $5,000 in repairs for a used transmission in a 2010 Ford. And icing on the cake, while parked on their lot "someone" side swiped the car, causing gouging, scratches, torn off side view mirror, and other body damage from rear quarter panel to front bumper. The rear door handle doesn't even work anymore. They said it was a tow truck but their cameras for some reason weren't working on that area of their lot. The cameras have now been fixed, but I didn't appreciate being argued with and gaslit about that being a reasonable risk of our car being on their property. Very little customer service from the regional manager, no money towards the extensive body repair and spotty communication...seriously AVOID this place at all costs! read more

I certainly appreciated the positive attitudes and the smiles to go with the great service. I went in for a question about something not working on my car. The diagnostic was done, the part was ordered and delivered promptly, and my car was done - all within 2 1/2 hrs. I am thrilled and will definitely go back. read more

I don't even know where to start... I can definitely agree with other reviews that they are rude and terribly slow. I asked to have my brakes checked and they charged me for a tire rotation claiming they did a 42 point brake inspection but never acknowledged it to me before leaving. After waiting four hours, I just wanted to get my keys and go so I didn't fight it. Upon opening my door, I noticed a nice new scratch on my leather seat. Appreciate that guys. I should've known better than to bother when I pulled up and everyone was busy smoking in the garage and talking, rather than working. Not sure who oversees how this company's locations are ran but think they might want to take a look at this one. Definitely not up to par in my opinion. I will certainly not be back. read more

Is precision tune the best service center in Sumter? Yes, yes they are... but why? It's the people, the new, and the old who came back. With a hands on district manager and an old but freshly returned shop manager, theses folks are great. I can't even remember the last time a crew took so much time to make me feel safe and secure about their work, let alone explain in layman's terms all my constant questions. If you need it done right the first time... or need something fixed the other guys did, this is the best shop in sumter for all of the above. read more

it took a 3 pound hammer and flat head screw driver to get the oil filter off, my bro broke his oil filter wrench, i was like wtf aint no way, and he was like look bubba, so i got under the car and looked and u could see plain as day claw or teeth marks at the top of the oil filter where they used a tool to put a oil filter on....... then the drain plug was put back on with a impact gun, they put the drain plug on like you would put a lug nut back on a wheel, spare tire etc..... we ended up having to use a fence post, i had to cut with grinder to use to slide over the wrench to get a oil drain plug off...... ok..... thats way over kill to put the oil filter on that tight period.... and to make things worse, you use a impact gun to put drain plug on...... and to top it off my niece the next day or so took her car to same place and they , removed her top motor cover and bottom skid plate on her car..... they even put the bolts back in when they took skid plate off, they i remind u .... this was june 20th.... changed her oil... charged her 70 bucks, and they removed her cover on her motor, and her skid plate..... and yes june 20th...... they never put the oil cap back on, so oil went every where for 3 months, oil is every where.... dripping from the grille ford logo, the engine cover is gone, oil cap was left off, they removed skid plate, they even put bolts in where they wouldnt lose them...... and left oil cap off..... didnt put motor cover back on....... and charged my niece 70 bucks, and thats some bs for real, read more

My son went to the store on Broad Street in Sumter SC and because he was not knowledgeable of cars they took advantage of him. I am going to seek legal action because they are very unprofessional because when I went to speak with the manager he left to go to the grocery store while still on the clock. Do not I repeat do not take your vehicle here they are con artists. I brought my truck here for simple driveshaft work. While it was there they called to tell me I had a very bad brake fluid leak coming from the brake line which is weird because I have a light colored driveway and have never had any leaks prior to taking my truck here. When I told the manager that he insisted that the truck was leaking when it first came in. So I go pick my truck up and have no brakes at all and they tried to cover up whatever they did to my brake line with a patch and zip ties holding it on. And then have the nerve to tell me they can fix the brake line for $600. So don't bring your vehicle here unless you want to get it back in worse shape then when it came it. read more

Where do I start with these crooks??? Took my p-up there last week because it was running rough. They charged me $107 dollars to run various tests to determine the cause. After an hour I was told I needed a head gasket set and intake gaskets. I was told cylinder 4 of 6 was the problem, cylinder 4 miss fire. One of the tests they supposedly ran said low compression. I was then floored to hear the cost of repairs....over $1500 !!! To install the gaskets and x-ray the head?? Never heard of that before but that was gonna cost over $230 alone. They were going to charge me 3 or 4 times the cost of the gaskets from a local auto parts store that they would have cost me. This is where it gets good or should I say bad. I knew that price sounded WAY high but when I took my truck to a local guy a friend referred me to, I found that the compression in cylinder 4 was fine.(I watched, and helped do the check) I didn't need ANY gaskets. I simply needed a tune up. Plugs, wires, a dist cap and rotor fixed the problem and cost me $135 parts and labor!!! Precision tune told me they could change, just the spark plugs, and that would cost $150, parts not included!!!! Precision tune did not run all of the tests they charged me for. I feel they were simply going off the engine codes alone. i also feel that had I told Precision tune to start the work it would have quickly turned into a bill higher than the value of the truck itself. Stay away from these people at all costs or it will REALLY cost you. read more

Took my car for front tie rods and headlights out. Was charged aprox $200 for a simple fuse replacement, 'Diagnostics and labor' ! The part is less than $20. And they charged me for an alignment that wasn't even completed that they farmed out to Menieke. Found this out after taking it to a different shop for strut replacement less than 3 weeks later. Plus a cigarette burn on my center arm rest that wasn't there before I took it to the shop. I don't smoke. read more
