Took my car for an oil change. I wondered why the car was in the shop so long. I noticed that the check engine light came on. Two other shops said they got an "evap" code on their computer. I had several parts replaced to try to rectify the problem...no success. I learned that the catalytic converter had been removed. Problem started after that oil change. Go figure. read more

If you don't want to end up wasting time having to take a business to small claims court, I wouldn't take your vehicle here... We went in for a ball joint replacement. They told us it needed two new ball joints and new front rotors and brakes. We agreed to the work. Then they informed us after they complete the work, the car will need an alignment BUT they don't do those.. Three days later, they called to say the truck was ready. It BARELY made it the 1.5 miles home. It was so incredibly dangerous to drive I cannot believe that they would send a customer away in that expecting them to live to make it to an alignment. We had to end up having it towed for the alignment. The shop that did the alignment commented that the work they did was definitely not good...but as long as we weren't having issues it should be fine. The next time the truck was driven, it went less than 100 miles before the front right side completely failed, and the truck ran off of the road. The entire front end was essentially melted. We called a trusted mechanic in another state and sent videos, and he concluded whomever did the brakes likely over-tightened the bearings. We had Precision tow the vehicle to their shop. We went up there to speak to them about the vehicle and asked that they get us a rental truck so that we could continue our business, but they refused. They stated they didn't have enough cash in the drawer for a rental, but I'm not sure how that is relevant when rental companies do not accept cash... They called the next day and left a voicemail that they needed to order a front hub assembly for the vehicle, and it would be here the next day (today). We contacted them, again asking for help with a vehicle, since them messing up the work in the first place is the reason we were without our truck, and were told that they would get us a vehicle for 1 day (today), since the truck would be finished by the end of today. I never heard back, nor did we get a rental. Additionally, they just called at 3pm the day the truck is supposed to be ready, and are now denying that they are responsible for the issues. They are now trying to charge over $1k to fix what THEY messed up that 2 mechanics have confirmed they messed up. My question is... if they looked the entire vehicle over the first time we took it in, and we gave them permission to fix everything they found wrong, and the truck was only driven for 100 miles before the area they did their work had issues, and they were willing to tow it AND order parts for it after looking it over.... but THEN they decide they can't fix it????? I believe the denial for responsibility is coming as retaliation for me contacting their corporate office when the manager of the store was unwilling to help and raised his voice multiple times. We will be disputing the charges with our bank for the faulty and dangerous work that was performed initially, as well as taking them to court for the costs associated with getting the vehicle drive-ready again, and the time/money lost for now being without our vehicle over 7 business days and the hassle associated with trying to get them to do the right thing. Please avoid this business at all costs. Majestic on Airport will take great care of you, as will Franklin Automotive. Really anyone but these guys. read more

Fall from Grace... For a long time Precision was my go-to for car care. The receptionist was friendly and would do her best to get me back on the road for a reasonable price. So, when my battery light flickered right before a family road trip, it was the first place I called. Over the phone I told them that I thought it might be the alternator belt but asked if they could take a look. They checked the belt and said that wasn't it. They also said that when they cranked it, the battery light didn't come on. I'm not delusional. Both my companion and I saw that the light was flickering and the car was behaving strangely but they said they didn't know what it could be. They later determined that the squeaking I heard must have been my brakes. Indeed, I needed new brakes, but that's not what I came in for. A car without power won't reach its destination. The brakes were thin but could wait. But since I was there, I decided to get the brakes. I saved a few dollars by ordering the parts myself. After waiting about four hours, my brakes arrived and were put on my car. It took that long because he initially brought the wrong size, then went AWOL. Anyway, I drive about half a mile down the road and sure enough my car is still squeaking and my battery light is back on. I call Precision to tell them this. The man says "oh, that sounds like your alternator" I said "I was just there for hours. No one checked it?" He said "No because you said to check the alternator BELT not the alternator" At this point my blood pressure was through the roof. *I* am not a mechanic. It is not my job to diagnose a car problem. It is *their* job. When I said exactly this the new manager got surly and started fussing at me that I can't be angry with him because he was doing what I told him to do. I pointed out that I figured he would diagnose the problem since that is his actual f'n job. He just got surly and hung up. I ended up having to rent a car. The alternator didn't get fixed until I got back to Mobile after our road trip We arrived in our destination about 8 hours late. These guys are the best. Jake, the new owner, is very professional and kind. Michael helped me with my oil change and was polite and knowledgeable about the issues with my car. Other places like this tend to nickel and dime you until your balance is WAY more than you expected! Not these guys! They did a diagnostic on my car ($99 service) and didn't charge me for it because everything was fine. I'm not saying they will do this for everyone, each customer's situation is different. But the point is these guys will NOT take advantage of you. Also, their basic oil change is only $24.90!! Cheapest in town! read more

Today we were heading home to Arkansas and my car decided to completely give up on me. It was a pretty scary situation as I am a single mom and had my son with me and luckily had my brother in law and sister in front of me. We originally went to Pep Boys and they didn't have any technicians in till TUESDAY! And it's 4th of July weekend... we called every place known to man and no one had a technician in and thankfully these guys totally came through. They got us in and had a part sent to them within 30 min... all my spark plugs were out and they replaced it within an hour and got us back on the road. They had the best customer service and were oh so kind. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs repair and or someone who needs a quick fix! read more

This place is under new ownership by a pretty great bunch of folks. Jake, the mechanic/owner is super knowledgeable and hard working, and his wife (I forgot her name) working in the office is sweet and a pleasure to talk to . Highly recommend this spot, and mainly for transparency. That's always key with a mechanic. Often times they'll try and trick you into spending more money. Not here, I personally witnessed them going out of their way to save a customer as much money as they could. Good karma coming to these people. read more

After hours of working on my vehicle I was told the motor locked. I later had to Tow it away in many pieces. Lost my transportation & they are refusing to take responsibility. My parents took their truck there Saturday to have a standard tune up because it had miss. They asked for a change of the spark plugs, plug wires, ignition coil, oil and filter change. They charged my parents who are elderly in their 80's and my dad just recently diagnosed with cancer $475 for the work none of which they did. Upon leaving my dad noticed the truck still acting like it had a miss. They took it to another garage Tuesday to find out this place only replaced two spark plugs with the wrong type of spark plug, did not change the plug wires, ignition coil, or change the oil even though they charged my parents for this. DO NOT go to this place for any service to your vehicle. This is your typical garage that tells old people and women the things they want to hear to make them feel like they're getting what they need and then takes them for every penny they can while doing the littlest amount of work possible. If I could leave negative stars I would. These people are thieves and scammers and should be out of business. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place! The oil change price is the best I've found in west mobile and the staff is extremely friendly. The receptionist is amazing and the guys go above and beyond. He showed me the oil after he was done and checked my air filter and explained to me in detail and made sure I understood it all. He even took the time to put air in my tire because it was low. I've been coming here since I was sixteen and I've never had a problem! I've had three cars come through there and all of them have been well-taken care of! I've also never been pressured into anything stupid like oil change places try. In fact they usually say "there's nothing wrong, your car is in great shape!" PSA: I would not recommend using precision auto tune on hillcrest road. The "manager" there decided to take advantage of my daughter who went in for a simple oil change. Basically he charged her 20 extra dollars for oil system cleaner. I received excellent service today at Precision Tune on Hillcrest Rd in Mobile,AL. Mrs Venita was very polite, informative and patient over the phone. She was very friendly when I came in and gave me a unexpected discount. Last time I got my oil changed, I went to a car wash that did oil changes. But, they didn't put a oil filter in when they changed the oil. Precision Tune does car washes and detail work now. The mechanic Reginald brought the parts in and showed them to me and gave me a report about my vehicle and checked all of my hoses and filled all my fluids and put air in my tires. I need a TIPM computer module. The new owner that has over 30 yrs of experience. He worked for my manufacture and was able to give me information that most mechanics don't know anything about. My part is very expensive for a new part. Therefore, I was going to buy a used part and have my vin# programmed in it. He saved me a lot of in refundable money. I'm very grateful. I went in for a oil change and walked out with peace of mind, honest repairs, money left in my pocket and new friends. GOD really Blessed me today! read more

I visited this Precision Tune on my last oil change for my 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe and then about a week later I had my oil changed in my 95 Nissan King Cab XE/SE, both vehicles received the up-grade oil change that includes filling all fluids. After my last oil change, I checked the fluid levels on the 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe and the 95 Nissan King Cab XE/SE and both had fluids that was not topped off. So I call Precision Tune and talked with a district manage and he told me that I would get a free oil change on both vehicles that would include filling all fluids. On 02/18/16 when I talked with the manager and the woman at the desk, they both assured me that all fluids would be topped off during the oil change. On 02/18/16 I had my free oil change done and was assured all fluids had been topped off but after driving home and then when I checked the fluids, my window washer fluid was low and my antifreeze overflow container was very low. This is the second time I have taken my 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe and the 95 Nissan King Cab XE/SE and was supposed to have all fluids topped off but both times all fluids were not topped off. I guess I must like to be lied to and not getting the service I pay for because I keep coming back I guess hoping to actually have one of Precision Tune employees do the job they are supposed to do without a manager having to baby sit and clean up after their employee messes. That's another problem issue Precision Tune has and it's the turnover of employees or management employed at the Precision tune located at 1230 Hillcrest Road in Mobile Alabama. It seems like about every other oil change these locations has had a new manager and maybe even a whole new set of employees to do oil changes among other services. When I bought my 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe, I took it to the Precision Tune located at 1230 Hillcrest Road in Mobile Alabama for its first oil change and was impressed but sense that time the service, accountability, and pride in customer service has really declined. Precision Tune needs to hire someone like myself to be like a secret shopper customer so as to report back to corporate office deficiencies found in services rendered to customers, customer satisfaction to include the customer is not being taken advantage of by being pressured into purchasing something they don't need, and many other areas that needs improvement on to be the best automotive shop in the city. I had problems with my infinity, I took it to them when the business my mechanic directed me to did not answer the phone at the time. So I searched for another business and went to see them. They told me I needed a new alternator and that it would be over $800! I paid them the 90 for looking at it, and told my mechanic he said, you should not have went there they are a bunch of rip off artists that's bs I checked your alternator its fine. Then he gave me the number of another person that solved the problem and within my meager budget. Don't go there whatever you do, a bunch of liars and con artists! read more

Awful! Awful! They dont even deserve the one star. Dont go here for anything more than oil change, and even that I wouldnt recommend they seem cheap but try to get you to buy extra crap. They told me I needed a lower intake gasket replaced. I was quoted about $390. So I said okay. I asked the tech if that included all the fees tax etc. When the job was finished. ( it took 8 hours longer than I was told it would.) They were busy they said but I got there at opening that morning and didnt my get car done until after they were closed and then they said my total was almost $600 because of labor cost. So I had to pay that. And then my fuel pump went out under their watch, and had to get that replaced for $100 of labor and $65 for the part. That took another two days of work. I was beyond aggravated. When I picked my car up it was shaking really loud and had a bad miss. But I had to be at work in 20 minutes. I called them and I was on hold for 30 minutes. I had another place look at it and Precision put push rods in my motor back in wrong and caused lifters to collapse. $600 worth of work again, and they REFUSE TO ADMIT THAT IT WAS THERE FAULT OR THAT THEY DID ANYTHING. All I did was go in for a quick oil change one day and thats what happened. DONT GO HERE! THEY'RE RUDE AND SAD EXCUSES FOR MECHANICS. read more
