Seemingly friendly and say they want to give you a good deal. Gives off icky used car sale lot vibes. No hourly labor rates are posted. Ask for everything in writing prior to work starting. They have a system- -front desk lady is sweet but a fast talker, flitting around running to get the manager Darryl. He comes in soft spoken tells you "I got you- don't worry". Very touchy feely which is inappropriate anyway. You believe him and then he pulls a switch on you. Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde- inexperienced mechanics, sloppy work and holds your vehicle hostage until you pay their exorbitant prices. Wished I had seen the bad reviews first. Do they stay so busy because they are breaking stuff or fixing it? You may get a warranty but will they even honor it? i called for breaks and rotors on rear 320.00 ok be right down thy striped a bolt and told me 1,200 to fix i told them just do breaks for now so thy put on just pads ,i thought thy did rotors also, and i was charged 400.00, later i looked at the bill pads only,400.00 i returned and asked for half back ,to bad for me ,i took them to small claimes i should have asked for jury ,i dont know how this woman judge became to be, she must have been taken or know these jokers. i got nothing so in short watch out for bait and switch this place sucks! read more

These guys were great. I was from out of state, on a cross-country tour, when my van started making ticking noises and the check gauges light came on near Casey, SC. My boyfriend and I were exhausted and nervous as they explained to us that it'd be $70 for them to do an oil pump line check etc etc. My boyfriend went to get some pizza, and while we waited for the (possibly very expensive) news and ate, we heard a ruckus from the garage. Everyone was laughing. They came out and explained that when I'd gotten my oil changed (at a pep boys) they didn't put enough oil in my van. The friendly guys at Precision filled her up, had a slice of pizza, waved away my credit card, and taught my boyfriend how to check the dipstick. Jonathan, and the team, very professional and courteous. Went on a Saturday, expexcting long wait turns. Not at all. Waited less than 5 minutes in line, once handing over my key, wait time was literally less than 20 min. I put 20 min, because it was that fast. Probably 15min. During that time, once the car was inside the garage, another team member, came and explained my car uses synthetic oil and gave me a cost. I will definitely use their services again. read more

Went to the one in Summerville, they tried to charge me $1500 for new brake pads and rotors and extended brake lines. Talked them down, they installed just fine. Go to pick my truck up and my "brake" light was on. They told me they couldn't turn it off and they don't know why, when I told the guy that he needs to figure it out, he almost seemed like he wanted to fight me. Idk, they couldn't figure it out. Fast forward two months, I'm in Cayce, SC. My brake lines (2 months old) happen to bust. I manage to get it to the Precision there and I explained everything to them and even showed them receipts. They couldn't do anything for me, but they sure could charge me another $130 to replace the faulty brake line. They're garbage. read more

I usually go to the dealership for oil changes and most anything else for my car, for the Carfax report and consistency. But when prices are high or I don't have a coupon for the dealership, my next best option is Precision Tune. I wish they had a larger/nicer waiting area, but they seemed to get my car through in decent time. I've never had a problem with Precision Tune and they always have reasonable prices. I was pleased to find out that they even offer student discounts. The service tech did mistake my tire maintenance (rotation) reminder for a tire pressure light, but since it isn't a dealership, I can understand that they might not know every specific dash light on every brand of car. Overall I think it's a good place you can trust for a quick and decent oil change. read more

I was having car trouble on my way to work so I went to Precision Tune because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to make it any further but they said it would be $75 just to look at the car to see what was wrong even though I also thought it was just that my car needed oil and I asked for an oil change. I feel like that is a ridiculous thing to charge someone for if all I really needed was an oil change and also just wanted them to make sure I hadn't done any permanent damage to the car. I took my chances and luckily was able to make the short drive from Precision Tune to STS Auto Sales & Repair on 12th St. STS changed my oil and looked my car over inside/out to make sure I hadn't done any damage. The whole things only cost me $30. Thanks a lot Precision Tune for trying to steal $75 bucks from me to hook my car up to a computer to have it tell you what is wrong. That is robbery - and people should know you don't have to settle for that kind of treatment. There are decent mechanics out there that won't charge you for work they aren't actually doing. read more

If you're looking around Yelp for somewhere to take your car for service, look no further. There are lots of auto repair shops around town but I highly recommend this one after my great experience. I had what I thought was a shorted out tail/brake light due to a small hole in the glass which was letting water through. I initially took my car to the dealership and the rep there told me that I needed a replacement and that it would take a week and about $200--for real, dude? So with the assumptions that I would lose some time and at least needed a replacement, I decided to take a chance on Precision. Long story short: Didn't need a replacement after all. They took a look, found some water had pooled in the light fixture, drained it out, made some small holes for drainage in future, replaced the bulb (which was out) and had everything fixed and back on in about 30 minutes. They even discovered that my other brake light was dim and changed that one out for me as well and all for $10! It's probably the first time I can say that I wanted to pay more for the great service I received. I feel like lots of auto repair places try and screw you over even when they know your problems aren't that serious. But the guy I worked with, Cedric, and his team, went out of their way to help me out in the most genuine and honest way possible--business practices that seem so rare nowadays. I can't speak highly enough of this shop and I highly recommend it for any of your vehicles' maintenance needs. Will definitely be going back for regular check-ups and oil changes as well! read more

I told my son it was time for an oil change but when I was looking at the maintenance records I missed that his last oil change was only 2 months ago because it was on the second page. He took it to Precision Tune in Lexington and even though he has been going there ever since he started driving they didn't bother to tell him when he signed in that it had only been 2 months and he had only been 2k miles since his last one. An honest person would have told him he wasn't due for an oil change. In addition to that, they sold him windshield wipers that he may or may not have needed and an air filter. They use a low oil change price to get you in the door and then sell you a bunch of stuff with a ridiculous markup that you could have bought at an auto parts store and usually had installed for free. I'm guessing half the time you don't even need what they try to sell you. They've pulled the fuel injection cleaning on me numerous times and I usually fell for it until he told me one time that I needed one and I knew I had just had it done on the last oil change. They're most famous line is "It'll get you better gas mileage". Smh. My son gets back and tells me it was over $97 for an oil change, wipers, and air filter. He went for a $20 oil change. Stay away from these people. If they know you don't know anything about cars or maintenance they take advantage of you. He just used half his paycheck for something he didn't even need. We have 4 vehicles between us and have been using Precision Tune in Lexington for years but we're done now. If they can't even be honest with their longtime customers I would hate to see how they do first timers. read more
