Street or parking structures nearby and walkable to many restaurants and shops. Such an added plus to historic Old Town Alexandria. The shop isn't that big and during the time of my visit it was super tight trying to get around the store. Unfortunately they were out of the mini Travelers notebook 20th anniversary edition. It's not a full stock of TN products so lower your expectations. Nonetheless, a quaint store I'll be checking out whenever I'm in the DMV region.

So I couldn't wait to visit Penny Post when I was in town on business recently. This little place is tiny-but-mighty, packed full of allll the planner-related things you could possibly need. From washi tape to notebooks, from fancy paperclips to customized post-its, they had everything I could possibly ever want (and more). The staff is really helpful, too. Perhaps noticing the blank stare/look of overwhelm on my face, a kind employee asked if she could help me find anything. Anything? I had found everything! Luckily, I was doing carry-on only this trip, so only left with a handful of pens and a roll (okay, two rolls) of lovely floral-printed washi tape. If you're into planning, journaling, fancy pens, fountain pens, stickers, or just need a creative greeting card, Penny Post is the place. A quick note about parking: it's sort of a nightmare! I drove around for 20 minutes before I found a spot. But it was worth the hunt.

The team took my ideas and helped refine them into something even more beautiful than I imagined, and they carried that same thoughtful design seamlessly through all of our day-of stationery. Everything felt cohesive, intentional, and so uniquely us. We received countless compliments on both our invitations and our same-day paper goods. Guests commented on how beautiful and elevated everything looked, and it truly set the tone for the entire celebration. Beyond how stunning everything was, these are keepsakes that I'll cherish forever. Looking back at our invitations and wedding paper instantly brings me back to one of the happiest days of our lives. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, and I'm so grateful they helped create such a meaningful part of our wedding.

I've really gotten into loose leaf tea and I think they were surprised by my knowledge (not trying to brag or anything) but sometimes I would ask a question and get a pause or something. Nowadays there's so many great small tea businesses to order from online with so many more unique blends. However it's nice to still shop in person and see the tea. This shop doesn't have an online website and they don't sell online. If I wanted more tea I would call to order and have it shipped. Which for a millennial who prefers to deal solely online is a lot of work. They didn't have as much tea as I would have hoped for especially in terms of flavors. Mostly just plain teas. The lady recommended a mango black tea they call Mango Mist. Unusual brewing instructions. She told me to heat my water to 190 for a black tea which is far too low. I tried both 190 and the usual boiling 212 and much preferred 212. Keep in mind temperature varies for what kind of tea. Pricey for loose leaf compared to other small businesses but it is in downtown Georgetown. I'm not local and I don't think I'd be back even if I was but it was a fun experience.
