A torsion spring broke on our rolling garage door. We called another company for a quote and we also called Precision. Precision could come out that afternoon and the other company could not, so went with Precision Door and we were satisfied with their service, timeliness of the service and the price of the service. They ended up replacing the two springs and after looking at the rollers, determined those needed to be replaced. I am very skeptical of any "up-sells" so I had the technician spend the time to show me exactly what was wrong and why they needed to be replaced. He said I would be pleased with the result and that the new wheels would make a big difference. While I hate to spend $500 on my stinking garage door, I must say it now works awesome. The door is almost perfectly balanced and I can raise and lower it with a couple of fingers. My automatic opener is under much less strain and sounds quieter and the door goes up and down perfectly level. The spings and wheels look like they are made of high quality and heavy duty materials. I would not hesitate to call them again or recommend to a friend or neighbor. read more

We live in Walnut Creek and our garage door was getting stuck about 4 inches from the ground and would not open. We called Precision Door Service and they have someone that actually picks up the phone! Rick came to our house at promptly 8 am when promised and analyzed our door. He knew exactly what was wrong after briefly looking at it. Great service! We also like that they have LIFETIME warranty on their products. read more

Not sure what caused garage door to derail and become undone but after calling Precision Door not only did they answer my call (5:45pm) they had a tech out before 6:30pm!!! Cory W. was awesome and had door fixed within minutes and went thru to make adjustments to make sure problem won't happen again (hopefully). I hope to not have any more issues with door but if I do these are the ones I will call back, thanks for fixing my garage door and not breaking my wallet in the process. read more

These guys suck. First, I made an appointment for Saturday to give me a quote on replacing a garage door and a new wifi opener motor. That Saturday came by and no one called or showed up. That week, I made another appointment for the following Saturday and told the appointment taker what happened that their service guy did not show up. She was very receptive and ensured that there would be someone to stop by and give me a quote. To cut the story short, the service guy did show up on that Saturday, but he did not know what he was there for. He asked me what does he need to repair??. I asked him if they communicate with the appointment taker since he did not know what he was there for. As I was telling him I needed a quote on a new garage door, he did not have any pamphlets or selection of doors I can choose from. I had to show him a pamphlet I got from RW garage doors on Amarr doors. Anyway, he got my selections for a possible replacement and would give me a quote on the following Wednesday. It is now 3 weeks later and 3 reminder texts about my quote and still no quote. I finally got another garage door provider to come out and they are very responsive. Not sure how these guys do business. read more

This is a follow-up post to my previous review of this business. The owner of the business called me back and was kind enough to give me a refund for the overcharged amount after I explained to him what the going price was to replace garage door springs. This is by far the most awesome customer service experience I have ever encountered while living in San Francisco. I am preparing to sell my house and move on to greener pastures. Needed a new garage door. Called around and Percision was the ONLY company that would send someone out within a few days. A very friendly technician (Brad )arrived right on time, had all his materials, gave us a great presentation, and helped us select a new and very affordable & attractive garage door. I was most surprised to find out that it could be manufactured, delivered, and installed in MY case in less than two weeks ! Brad , The technicians that installed the door, and the office manager Tina were all incredibly polite and helpful. By far, the most outstanding customer service I have ever received while living in the bay area. If you're looking for a garage door look no further !! It couldn't get any better. Quite simply ,PERCISION is the Best of the Best !! read more

Eric was an incredibly helpful guy. He quickly located the problem and was able to change our motor.

I was having problems with our garage door opener and found Precision Door Service online. I was happy that they were able to schedule a same day appointment. Joseph was the service tech and replaced the motor and worn rollers in less than an hour, plus he gave me some maintenance tips. If only everyone was this efficient and friendly in the home repair industry, things would be a lot better. Good company, will use them again. read more

Fantastic service by John today. He arrived early, explained everything thoroughly and quickly determined the problem as a damaged motor. He had the parts on his truck and had it replaced in no time. He was very thorough in explaining everything, features, warranty etc. So friendly. I trusted him easily. Great service by a great company! read more

This was one of the best experiences we have had with a service company and specifically with our technician Chad. The pleasant surprise began with easy communications with a live operator to schedule the appointment. That was followed up by an email showing names and photos of all of the technicians, and indicating which one of them would make the service call. Chad called the morning of the appointment to let us know when he would arrive within the assigned window, and arrived on time. We had a problem with an older garage door system where the door would fail to open intermittently. Chad was very personable and knowledgeable about the older system and clearly explained that there were several ways to go about solving the problem. We opted to put in a new system with all new accessories even though replacing certain parts would have been less expensive. Chad installed the new system that very day without having to set up another appointment and fully explained everything to us about door maintenance, operation and warranties and helped us program our cars to the new system. He wanted to make sure that we were fully satisfied before he left. We highly recommend Chad and Precision Door Company for any garage door need and feel that we received excellent value for the price that we paid. read more

Great customer service and work. Came out right away and installed quickly.

Wished I had checked yelp first. Thought that $49.95 was pricey for estimate that others do for free but was told that they didn't charge labor costs so that seemed like it would balance. Instead their replacement parts were grossly over priced. Was super annoyed that I had to sign that I approved the "work" in order to pay for the service fee. I'm like what work? read more

There's a reason they are a Diamond Certified Business AND are backed by Costco! Precision Door Service is the most honest Garage Door Service with unbeatable prices. After driving right into my garage door, Precision was at the house within hours to take measurements and give me a quote on the spot. Mike helped me pick my new garage doors and ordered them immediately; the only reason I had to wait a few weeks for repair was because I picked custom colors and windows and our garage doors are not standard sizes. The garage doors came exactly when promised and the crew started work. Luis and the crew are amazing and honest hard workers. One of the crew members accidentally cut his hand (I assumed they'd stop working and come back another day)...they bandaged the hand and kept on working! Luis noticed two very miniscule dents on one the interior panel and showed it to us (we would have NEVER noticed!); he stated he'd have the office reorder a panel and replace it. This company is the ideal example of Excellent Customer Service, Quality Work and Products, Honest and hard Work, and Competitive Pricing! Trust Precision Door! read more

I have a rental unit in Pleasanton and the garage door would not open and the only way in is the door as it is detached. Called Precision door and set a time for this past Sunday. James called and told me he would be at the unit in about an hour only one hour into the four hour window. He spent a lot of time trying to get it open and did. Got everything working better than before. James was great to work with and I will be using this service again. Thanks James! read more

I originally called Precision Garage Door Service to see if they could provide new remotes for our garage door. They said they would be happy to assist with the remotes and assigned tech Josh Kinder. When Josh arrived he offered to do a detailed multi-point inspection of the garage door system in addition to simply reprogramming the new remotes. It was raining very hard when he came and he could very easily just taken care of the remotes and left but he stayed to complete the inspection. And we are very thankful that he did because he identified a number of issues that clearly needed to repaired (e.g., misaligned track, worn rollers, damaged cable hubs, worn springs, broken metal corner block, hinges needing to be lubed, improperly mounted safety beam sensors, etc.). Bottom line, when he was finished with the required work, it was like we had a brand new garage door, running perfectly smoothly, and making almost no noise. We really appreciate the work Josh did for us. He clearly demonstrated what excellent customer service is all about -- being on time, listening to the customer, communicating in a professional and caring manner, doing a great job, not cutting corners, and making sure the customer is very pleased with the work you do. Precision Garage Door Service may cost a little more than other companies but if all of their staff provide the level of service Josh provided to us it is totally worth it. read more

Garage would not open all the way, so I called Precision, had the number on garage wall along with two others, but I remember speaking to James when he was fixing my neighbors door. I called after 6PM on a Friday and needed the car the next day, but door was stuck. I actually spoke to a lady that was very helpful and said she would have someone out the next morning before I had to go to my appointment. James came out, was professional, but friendly, fixed everything and did not try to sell me. He also fixed part of the roof on inside of garage, the tile, so the door would not get caught again. I highly recommend James and Precision. Also kudos to the lady, I think her name was Amanda, this mornings call and the person who answered at 6PM last night. They all came through for me. read more

Precision door service came and wanted to charge $125.00 just for showing their fancy truck. But since I wanted my door fixed and they were there, I did not heed this warning. Combo of tweaked garage door and people being there ready to fix overrolled caution--they triple overcharged me and cashed my check the same day so now I have no recourse but to write something here. Don't use them! read more

Had the Service on 11/3/12. Not very happy with the expensive parts and upsell. Good things: technician was able to diagnose and fix the problem; he was friendly; office called about appointment delay. Bad things: fixing torsion springs and opener gear & sprocket ended up costing me $770. He added 2 bearing and 2 drums (original bearing and drum looked okay). I was caught off guard regarding the original problem and later on researched on the internet and found the the following. 2 springs go for ~$80-$100/each (they charge $168/each with install); gear & sprocket ~$30 (they charge $168 w/ instsall). The cost for brand new opener goes for $150-$200 !!! The total amount of work was about 1hr. Basically labor is ~$400 for one hour of work. Talked me into expensive package with some kind of limited life-time warrantee. Feel taken afterward! They are capable, but be ready with information on cost before you call them to negotiate, or call someone else. If I have to pay again, I'd call others with 5 stars on Yelp. read more

I called Precision this morning since my garage door wouldn't close. The repairman gave me a ridiculously high estimate of $700.00 to fix the door and no parts were involved. I asked if he could just close the door completely, for safety reasons, as there was a 2 foot gap from the bottom of the door and the garage floor, and he said I would have to put a deposit down on a new door with his company before he could attempt to close the door due to the fact that the door might break. Needless to say, I sent him on his way and I paid him his service fee of $49.00, which he didn't deserve because not only did he do nothing, but he also gave me false information. I called another company right away, they came out this afternoon, put the cable back on, fixed a screw in one of the hinges, straightened out the left track and the door is working beautifully!!! Additionally, this repairman told me that the door is just fine and there is no need to purchase a new one. And to top things off, he only charged me $78.00!!! Yes, that's right! $78.00. Had I gone with Precision Garage Door I would have paid $700.00 and maybe even more if I had followed the repairman's advice and purchased a new door. I call this customer deception. read more

All I can say is watch your wallet!! I can't believe anyone would give this outfit 5 stars. Maybe a negative 5 stars. This companies MO is UP-SELL. I have a garage door with a single style torsion spring that had broken. I called about simply having the spring replaced. Before their guy got past my door he was suggesting I replace all of the rollers, replace the torsion spring bar and adding two springs. For the price he quoted I could have had an entirely new door installed from one of the big box warehouse stores. I had to almost demand to only have the one spring replaced, which they finally did. Even with that they charge 2 to 3 times more for the springs versus direct from the a warehouse store. read more

Tell you on the phone what it will cost and then it cost double. This place is a rip off. I would not use them again.

My husband called Precision because the garage doors were hesitating, sometimes stopping, sometimes going back down. When the tech came out he told my husband that a full service was needed to remedy this problem. My husband did not fully understand the tech. When I got home and found out how much the bill was, I reacted negatively. I called Mike. He explained clearly that after ten years (or before) that this would happen if not serviced. He sent the tech back out the next day to show me just what they replaced and why. Mike went out of his way to be patient, explain in detail and go the extra mile. I appreciate their great service. read more

We just had Precision Garage Door Service out. To start out on a good note, the tech, Ricky U., did fix our garage door opener by putting our cables back on track, but he tried repeatedly to overcharge us and actually pinched our cable and then said it was bent and also needed repair. He said it would $299 for repair total. When my husband went to pay him, he said it would also be $50 show up fee. Then he said he would waver the $50 show up fee, but he wanted the $299 PLUS $168 labor. Isn't fixing something including labor? We are retired so this adding and adding was really scary. Finally he accepted $350 and no new parts were used. Something is not honest about this company. DON'T USE THEM. read more

Worthless. quoted me one number over the phone and then when Paulino came out it was 3 times that. then charged me $50 for the visit to try and sell me a new door. did he pay any attention to the door? no, just a cursory glance and then tried to sell me a new one. all i needed and wanted was my spring tensioned. then he started dropping his price. awful. someone else fixed it. waste of money. read more

Last week my garage door broke off the hinges. I made several calls looking for someone to come out, more than one friend suggested Precision. The receptionist who answered was very polite, an appointment was made for the same day. Phil arrived early and did a great job, I will use them to replace the other door in the near future. read more

Called them on a Wednesday because I needed a new garage door opener. They came that day (arrived much later than they promised) and told me I recommended an opener which was over $600, and some add-ons that would be another $300. As far as their recommendations were concerned, we have no complaint--we did need what they recommended. However, in the initial phone call, there was a suggestion of a $350 project. That was clearly too low, and probably should not have been mentioned. The project began on Friday evening. Because of late arrival, we had to leave and could not be present during the installation. When we arrived home, the opener was on the ceiling of the garage, but was plugged into three separate circuit breaker type extension cords that were hanging from the ceiling. I could not put my car into the garage. When I called to complain, they first told me that I needed to get an electrician to put a plug in the ceiling of my garage (house built in 1926). However, my garage has four outlets in the walls and clearly doesn't need a fifth one in the ceiling. I asked why not use an extension cord to run the power from an existing outlet 10 feet away. So once again another phone call and another person comes on Saturday, this time three hours late not at 10 a.m, but at 12:30. Again this man, who like everyone is very pleasant and competent, doesn't know about the extension cord needed to complete this job. So we give them one of ours and he managed to staple it to the ceiling and wall and plug it in on the side of the garage. Final bill $960. You think for a nearly thousand dollar job, they could bring their own wiring and do it once rather than require multiple trips and have the homeowner provide the wiring materials (for which we did receive a $12 discount in the amount of the cost of our extension cord). The final job is perfectly fine. However, the initial low-ball estimate, the unprofessionalism evidenced by their not initially completing the job with the appropriate electric lines, and the lateness of arrival all were all problems that result in my conclusion that I would not recommend them. read more

The cable on one side of the door broke leaving the door at a funny angle half open, half closed. Chad was able to come out the same day to close the door and secure the garage. A few days later Dave came to break the door down and replace it with a brand new door. Dave was friendly, conscientious, and made sure the door worked well, and that i knew all the details of how to program and maintain it. I would recommend Precision Door to others. read more

I have a rental property in San Leandro and my tenant called me on *Superbowl Sunday* to tell me that the garage door wouldn't open. She sent me a picture and it was obvious that the torsion spring on the door had broken. I checked Yelp and found Precision Door, and was amazed when they answered. They sent James Walker over within 2 hours, and within a little over an hour, he had replaced both springs, installed new bearings, cables, and drums, had re-positioned the garage door opener for a proper angle, and had lubricated and checked everything else out. He was bringing the door up and down while I was in the house and it was so quiet that I couldn't even tell the door was operating. The price was not cheap but you get what you pay for, and I know the door will be operating long past the 3-year warranty. I'll be using James and Precision Door for our own home and whenever we need garage door work from now on. read more

Recently my garage door spring broke. I called Precision and asked the cost to replace the tension spring, the lady on the phone said from $60 to $169 per spring and a $49 service charge, sounded reasonable, since I have a standard size door I thought I would fall somewhere in the middle, so I had them send a guy out. The next day a tech came out and looked at my door in less than five minutes he told me it was going to be $169 x 2, plus the service call and tax. I was bit surprised since it came in on the top price. I asked why so much, he said that was what it cost and it was up to me if I wanted to pay it. I should of called another repair service but, I had plans later that day and needed to get it done, so I agreed. Then he started to try to up sell me, saying I needed rollers and bearings, etc. another $400 in services. I said I wasn't even expecting to pay this much, and definitely did not have another $400 for the other services. He wasn't very happy I didn't go for the other repairs. It took him about 15 minutes to replace the springs. I called later that day wanting to speak to manager, because I felt the pricing was a bit high. I thought the job should have been done in the $200 range. No manager was available, but the lady said she would have one call me. A few days later I got to talk to a manager named Mike. He explained that the springs I got were long lasting springs 100000 cycles not your normal 10000 cycle type, that's why they cost more. I guess I have to wait and see. Then later that the same day after I talked to Mike, my garage door had problems closing. Upon closer inspection I noticed that the rollers are now coming out of the hinges on one of the sides. Its like the door is now unbalanced or level. You can see it moving away from the track. I never had this problem before. I placed a call to see if another tech can see what is wrong. I will update this post with results. So another tech came out and looked at my door. He said 2 of the hinges were broken, thats why the door was having problems closing. I told him it was working fine before the springs were replaced, he had no answer. I showed him my invoice and he looked at the 24 point inspection and it said the hinges passed. He said there was nothing he could be but charge me for the hinges and a servicxe call if I wanted it fixed, another $130. I said but there was nothing wrong before and the invoce said the hinges passed. He said I could call the office the next day and see if they would give me a discount. I said no thanks. He wrote me a new invoce and, now showed the hinges were bad. They only seem to be concerned about making money, not doing what is right. They are a big Franchise busines. I will go with the smaller more customer oriented company next time. read more

IF I COULD GIVE THEM A MINUS 5 STAR I WOULD. They charged me $499 1/2 horse no frills Chamberlain Lift Master & $238.95 for labor which was less then a hour. My garage door spring broke two days ago. I made a call yesterday and technician came on time this morning. First thing their tech. start point out multiple problems: original spring were wrong sizes, their springs are better quality, roller and motor might be bad etc. Then their price estimate were about twice more than other services; original door installer cost me about 1/2 of theirs cost to replace springs. They didn't take internet coupon I printed out from their web site. read more

They showed up on time and did the necessary repair. I agree with someone else's "hold onto your wallets" comment. The guy tried to hustle me for hundreds of dollars in unneeded repairs and tried to scare me into doing them or my door would literally fall apart. He also told me the phone person had quoted an incorrect (too low) price for the part needed. I threw the BS flag and had him do just the required repair. Even at that I ended up paying $75 more than was quoted over the phone because the "service call" charge did not include any labot--they get that just for showing up. The repair was really simple, one anyone could do if one had the needed part-a simple rail. I was lazy and in a time crunch so I called these guys and traded a little time on my part for a lot for money to these guys--a really bad decision. Would never, ever call them again. Oh, he was also condecending and rude. Nightmare. read more

We are very pleased with the technical ability, solution finding, service and pricing that Precision Garage Door gave us. The condo we bought did not have remote controls for the garage door. So, Precision coded 2 remotes for us. After that, we found the door opening on it's own. Precision sent the technician back to check and changed the code on the motor. Well, it happened again. The door just kept opening. But our remote would not open any of the nearby garages! Mike Fahey explained to us that the older garage door motors did not use an exclusive range of codes - and therefore, it was possibly TV remotes or Game wifi remote controllers that were causing our garage door to open. He gave us the best price he could, made a recommendation for Belt driven motors v/s Chain driven motors and sent the technician to us back again. All 3 times, the appointment was made at our convenience, the technician called when he was 20 minutes away to let us know that he was on his way, the technician arrived on time, the technician delivered what we asked for that appointment. We are happy to give Precision Garage Door a 5-star review. read more

they are a total scam. Had them come out to take a look at my door opener and the guy says "YOUR OPENER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED" also told me ALL my other door parts were bad and needed to be replaced. I thought my opener was fine and it just needed a new belt. I told him my opener was not that old and I was not going to change all the other parts on the door, they work fine. He said they don't sell the belt or rail, you have to get the opener replaced. I thought that was strange but i took his word for it and had the work done. they charged me over $600 for the opener, I later found the same one after shopping around for $200. To make matters even worse I also found the belt replacement at a fraction of the cost of a new opener and after calling a few other door companies also found I could have had the same opener installed at nearly half the price they charged me. Never again will we use this company and the other parts on my door they said were 'bad" are still working, go figure. A very expensive lesson learned for us and very bad business ethics on the part of precision door co. read more

I had Precision Door Service changed springs and rail wheels 4.5 years ago ($1167) and recently called them for spring balancing (12/21/2011). Sears Home Maintenance had serviced their Craftman chain opener (changed the worn sprocket, no charge since we have a maintenance contract) but informed us that the springs should be balanced since the standard 2 car wide door was heavy. Precision estimated $49.95 on the phone (takes 45 min to 1 hr). Rick came out ~1.5 hrs after their 2 hour appointment window. He looked at our door and said it'll cost $135 + $49.95 and said he'll talk to his manager about the pricing. The spring adjustment was only on one side and it took him 5 to 10 min. Yet, I was charged $135 and I still feel overcharged and taken since I spent over $1K with them a few years back. Rick tried to convince me that I should have let the opener failed and not do business with Sears. I was given a LiftMaster brochure with an opener that cost ~$480. Just didn't feel right with Rick's comments and charges. Thought that I share this with people. read more
