I am very disappointed with the work they did for my garage door back in December. My garage door springs is broken and need repair. I find them online and they arrived on the same day. I asked him how much to have the whole garage door system replaced, and he told me it will cost over $4,000. It was too expensive for me so I have him replace the spring and he recommend me to replace all the rollers too which is totally unnecessary. After $570 and whatever adjustment he did, the door a slightly off to one side. A month ago the garage door is broken again. This time I call around and have the whole garage door replaced including the tracks, door opener and the garage door. I only have to pay $1,800 and I am so happy with it. I also find out the repair they did was really bad. First, they put the wrong size springs for the door and replaces unnecessary part just to charge me more. I really am angry with them for being dishonest. I will nor recommend them. read more

Based off other yelp reviews, my husband called late one evening when we heard a spring snap and the garage door wouldn't budge. They were very friendly on the phone and sent out a technician the next day. Jame W called me to give me an eta on our window and ensure he'd be there despite the late time of day. He was thorough, informative and made sure to not just fix the warn parts (not just the spring) to make sure the door was safe and operating the way it should. He walked me through every issue and was able to provide a discount where possible. The warranty and service were all built it! read more

The experience was so bad - I created this account with yelp. Paulino came out to assist us with a broken spring... His first look- less than 5 minutes resulted in a quote of $750 to fix. When my husband said he wanted 5 minutes to discuss, he said he had other customers and should not be asked to wait... We said no and he indicated that he could do just the spring for $500... When we were paying the $50 "quote" fee - he said that he could take the $50 off and do the spring for just $350... Dropped $400 from first price... Fishy... Not impressed at all. read more

Told them on the phone that one of the springs on my door broke. They can't quote me right away. I was told that the tech would come to inspect and give me options. The tech did come quite soon, after the inspection, he tried to sell some parts that weren't needed. I told him that I don't need options, just tell me how much to fix the broken spring, the tech was upset and said that it'd cost about $520 and he wouldn't give me any kind of warranty if I just want to have the springs replaced. I gave him the $50 and sent him away. Later I called The Door Doctor, they quoted me over the phone and it was $260, with one year labor and 3 year parts warranty. The Precision doesn't even deserve a One Star. read more

This company totally tried to scam me... The repairman, Rick, purposely overheated my opener until it smoked and then tried to convince me that I needed to replace it at the cost of $500. After he left with my $69.95 check (their minimum charge for the service call), I did a little bit of research on the internet, and found that I needed to replace the limit switch, available for $7 on Amazon and easy to install. It took me just 10 minutes to install it and the garage door was back to working perfectly again. Shame on me for not doing that little bit of research before calling a repair company, but shame on them for trying to cheat me. I would have been happy to pay $100 for the service call plus the inflated cost of the part to have had it taken care of, but instead they tried to take me for $500. Don't trust these guys. read more

The torsion spring broke on my garage door. I called precision to have it replaced. They came out the same day. The tech said I need replace the spring which would be around $600 dollars and said I should also replace my rollers which would be around $800 total. The tech said if I did the $800 option he would waive the service call fee of $50. I had to take time off work to get the springs fixed so I just went with the $800 dollar option. I really regret I did because the rollers were not any better than the ones that were replaced. It took about 20-30 mins to replace and when I got my bill it was for OVER $1000 dollars! He subtracted the service call fee but just added in a "labor or fuel charge". I feel it is kinda shady not to write out the total if is it going to be a couple hundred more than the verbal est. Also their credit card machine was not working so I had to write a check. I really regret not shopping around, should have just paid the $50 dollar service fee and gone with someone else to save $$. They do good work but extremely expensive! Shop around first! read more

We jammed the screw on the garage door opener of the home we rent in Scotts Valley. My husband called Precision as they could come out on a Saturday. When the Yahoo arrived I was the first to greet him. Within 3 minutes he was telling me we needed a new motor and spring for the door, costing about $1000. I told him the motor and spring and door worked fine until WE jammed the screw trying to adjust it. He was persistent that all needed replacement. Luckily my husband joined the conversation and repeated the screw was all that needed replacing. After getting in an argument with the Precision Yahoo, he said he couldn't fix it and needed to charge us $50 just because he came out. Eventually my husband convinced him to just change the screw. In just 10 minutes and $200 later, we have a new screw and working garage door opener. Ladies, don't use Precision if you don't have a man to yell at the Yahoo that shows up. I'd like to add a follow up to this review. Within hours of posting the owner of Precision called us to better understand our story, profusely apologize and offer a refund. It sounds like he truly does care about customer service. Hoping he appropriately addresses the Yahoo we had the pleasure of meeting, but I trust the rest of the company offers positive customer service. Increasing my rating because of that phone call. read more

They tried to charge over $1200 for a door service! This place gouges! I had the same service completed for $180 else where. I will not call them back. read more

Seriously amazing customer service. When I read same day service and repair I did not believe what I read. We had an issue with our garage door and Jim was able to replace and repair the door mechanism not only on same day but it took less then 30 minutes. The customer service was great. I had to cancel my first appointment due to an emergency. The person answering my call understood and I was able to reschedule for later in the day. Great service read more

I looked at yelp reviews before calling this company. When I saw that they had good ratings and more important that the owner corrected problems in the past, I decided to give them a call. The person who answered the phone was polite and efficient. The technician called first to give me the time he would arrive. He explained all the work that needed to be done. Mike was very professional and quick. You are not gambling when you call this company. I would highly recommend Precision. read more

I wanted to believe their ad ( same day service, evening and weekend availability, diamond certified rating, award accolades ) but sadly I was fooled. I was visiting my daughter when we heard a loud bang in the garage. I suspected a broken garage door spring as we could not lift the garage door open even with the manual release. This was on a Saturday afternoon around 3 pm. Precision came up after a Google search and I was able to live chat with someone. Despite their ad claiming 24/7 she replied that the earliest someone could come out was Sunday between 2-6pm. We didn't really have a choice, as other places just had voicemail for a weekday return call. We received a confirmation email- so I thought everything was set. On Sunday my daughter was worried when no one was out and it was already 5 pm. She called the phone number on the email that guaranteed that someone would answer and lo and behold- no answer. I contacted the live chat (Jessica) again and she offered to call the tech to call my daughter with an ETA. My daughter finally received a call around 8 pm but she said he sounded sketch and said she would reschedule. Needless to say she used another company who did show up as promised. read more

First of all they showed up late for the appointment window (2 hour window). I had a broken torsion spring that needed to be replaced. I know that you want to replace both at the same time, the other will probably fail soon. The technician then proceeded to tell me that the reason that the spring broke was that I had bad guide rollers on the sides of the door, the ones that run in the tracks. He wanted to replace them for me to the tune of $25 per!!!!!!! That would have been an extra $300 to the bill!!!! I refused them and just had him replace the springs and the main bearing for $540. I later looked up on the internet what the cost of the guide rollers that he was offering. They were less than $3 each. Don't let them up sell you on anything. I am sure that they get a lot of gullible people that agree to whatever they say. Be firm and stand your ground with these people. read more

Fast, courteous service! Cory was fantastic!

Our garage door didn't open last night when we returned home at 10:50 pm. We called Precision Garage Door company at 8 am this morning and the receptionist said that the technician would arrive between 10 - 12 this morning. Mike came at about 10;30 am, was very polite and efficient and worked quickly. A major part had broken which he replaced. We were so relieved, especially since one of our cars was stuck inside the garage until Mike got the door working again. We highly recommend Mike and Precision Garage Door! read more

Contrary to the claim of the Precision Door Service Technician who claimed that I needed to replace my garage door cable immediately (that was back in 2014) as it would break anytime, I am happy to report that my garage door cable is still working fine. It just re-affirms that the Technician used a scare tactic to try to scam me in buying parts that are not needed. read more

You have got to realize that when you get these guys they are going to sell you a whole of extras and you will probably have no idea if the work is needed without getting another estimate, by which time you will have paid this company their $50 service call fee. Precision did a great job installing a new garage door. It wouldn't close all the way sometimes which was a a little puzzling. Dale came out a couple times and it worked for a few days - started acting up again. Appreciate the honesty of the technician being puzzled at why the door wouldn't close.......James is the man! He figured it out - was one of those bizarre problems!! Been a month and it's working great!!! Thanks, you're the best!! read more

We had a broken spring resulting in not being able to open the garage door. It was a weekend and they were the only service responding. The tech convinced my wife that more was necessary. The result was an $1100 bill. She was only presented the estimate and bill after the work was finished but never would have agreed to the work for that price, nevertheless we paid the bill. Another company we normally use indicated the charges were outrageous. We have settled with Precision but do not recommend them. read more

Please get other estimates first; I wish I did. Precision charged me $795 for garage door repair. Later I found out it's higher than a new one and 2X higher than "high" estimates from homeadvisor.com. (Perhaps they charged me extra for being an older woman.) read more

Was told that to come out and determine problem was $49.50. Said OK. Man came on time which was a miracle - wanted to do a lot of work for a lot of money. Told him to just put one part back so we could open and close door. Didn't want anything else. Took him 14 minutes to finish the work for $220.00. That is a little high we thought. The door works for now. We'll see how long it lasts. read more

I called Precision Door Service (925) 392-1515 about getting a new garage door opener. I was quoted $350 over the phone but when the tech "Paulino" got there, he gave me a written estimate of $1,820.00. The reason I called was b/c the remote control stopped working otherwise it worked fine. The rollers and chain were good and well aligned. Upon telling him "NO way" it was too much he started lowering his price. He finally came down to $750.00. At that point I thought this guy is a real crook and I didn't want to deal with him even for the $350 quoted price!! This guy "Paulino" is a crook. I called the office and the first woman I spoke to told me they would send another tech and that they would do it for the quoted $350 but she was going to have the manager call me. Well, the manager called only to try and justify the price of $1,850.00 now again this was for replacing the garage door opener only, NOT getting a new garage door and opener!! I called another company(Contra Costa Door) and I paid $400.00 and everything works perfect. From what I see there are several Precision Door Service (franchise?) and all may not be the same as the place I called. WATCH OUT FOR THESE CROOKS! read more

technician came promptly within time, looked at my garage door, told me what was wrong in a minute..he suggested I change all the hardware for 1800 which the only thing that needed replacement was the springs and the bracket. then when i said just write down what ur estimate is on the form and that i'll get back to him bec i have another estimate coming tomorrow..he said that I didn't ask for a free estimate so he would have to charge me $70. I told him I always ask for a free estimate and how is that you give some people free estimates IF THEY ASK FOR IT and others have to pay...anyway, called there receptionist and was able to clarify that i am getting a free estimate...he also asked me "how much are you willing to spend?" then the technician said "i'll give you a good deal, I'll do change what you really need fr $500 if you let me fix it right now...I was still hesitant...and then he lowered it even more...he said ok...i'll do only the repairs you need for $360...final offer ...insisting he do it right then....I told him I could not make a decision because I always get at least a couple of estimates before I decide...he was so persistant into making me get him to fix my garage after this ordeal...long story short...the guy who came the next day from another company said he would change the same parts with labor for $250...so this other company fixed my garage and it's working beautifully....I wouldn NEVER go to this company nor recommend it to anyone....THEY ARE RIP OFFs...trying TO GET U FOR EVERY DIME YOU GOT.....STAY AWAY!!! I typically don't like to give bad reviews but working with this company was just a rip-off and they don't take any accountability for their work. So, here goes.... Here is what happened: My garage door would not close via the car remote when it got really hot outside. I could live with it by closing the garage door from inside the house but I want to get rid of this issue. The technician came over and he spent quite some time on the garage door. He moved it up and down and he also moved the trolley back and forth (not sure how he did it). Finally he said, the springs need to be replaced and he gave a quote for $360. This was way expensive for me. Also, when I asked him if I do some research and call them back, he said the company will charge me the $49.95 service fee again! In my view, this is ridiculous. Is this the company strategy for getting repeat business?? Anyways, for me $360 is a big amount to spend on a garage door so I said "no". The technician got annoyed and he left. When he left, the garage door was still open. I went around doing some household chores and when I came back and tried to close the garage door, the door would not close. So, I called the company again and asked them whether they could send the technician back. The garage door would always close before but now it was not even closing. The company agreed to send a technician over and they said they would charge me $49.95 again!!! I argued with them and the rep said that he does not have the authority to send over a technician without charging a service fee and they could only do this with a senior officer's approval. Fair enough. So, I spoke to this person. The senior officer said the technician who came to see my garage door had mentioned in the receipt that "No Work done". I said "yes", he did not change the springs but he surely worked on the garage door to diagnose the problem. After 10 minutes of explaining, the senior officer agreed to send the technician over at no cost. The new technician came over the next day, he looked at the issue and said that he will have to charge $89 to fix the issue!!!! This really ticked me off. I was done with this company. He spoke to the senior officer while he was here and looks like he did not support. I did not want to waste my time again arguing my case. In my humble view, a company should have take accountability for its work and support its customers on follow-up requests. I am not against charging service fees (I don't work in non-profit myself!) but Precision is taking this to a extreme level. I am going to competition now (Real Garage door charges $29 as a service fee) and I will continue this report once I am done fixing this issue. Amit read more

When the tech first arrived he claimed that I needed a completely new set up for $1200. I talked him down to $520, most of which he claimed was for two door cables which he said cost $150.00 each. When my year-old garage door wouldn't work, I called the company which installed it. They never returned by call, so I called Precision because I needed it fixed quickly. A friend of mine suggested to call this company because my garage door's metal cable had to be reattached. A man came out to look at it and quoted me over $300 to fix it. I had no other option so I paid him. In a matter of a minute it was fixed. All he did was reattach a cable. No tools or anything was needed. I got charged an exuberant amount for a job that even my 10 yr old grand daughter could do. It is unfair and just not right. I would never use or ever recommend this company even if they were the last company on earth. read more

I have raised my rating by one star. In response to my original rating, the company sent a person out who actually fixed the garage door properly. The door was skewed not sitting straight on the ground when shut after the prior third fix. The technician that came out this final time knew what he was doing, was cordial, and understood what customer service should look like. I appreciated his realignment of my garage door and his courtesy. The garage door is finally working properly. ORIGINAL REVIEW: If I can give a negative rating, I would. They came to fix my garage door on three occasions. They had me pay over a thousand dollars to replace the springs and also said I needed to replace the rollers, which I unfortunately believed and succumbed to. The springs were not calibrated correctly and therefore, subsequently broke my garage lifter TWICE within a span of 7 weeks! I've never had any problems with my garage door for ten years before they replaced the springs. They charged me again to fix the problem they caused! In addition, they said that I needed to replace my motor for another $1,500 as a preventive measure or they will not guarantee their work. Come again?!!! It's interesting that in response to another one star review, their business manager says that customers who replace springs and rollers get great service. I have not received any service that I can call great or even competent. In addition, they broke my garage door light last time they came and did not fix it. They took the support brace off the motor and it's missing now. When my garage door lifter broke again in less than a month after their last "fix," their "experienced technician" said that since I did not replace the motor, I have no guarantee on their work.. I called in another company who said that there was nothing wrong with the motor but needed the missing support brace (and it should be less than half of what Precision quoted to replace the motor had I needed to), that the gear assembly was broken. Precision either put in wrong springs or did not put it in with the correct calibration, which broke the gear assembly. I had asked Precision about the springs when they were putting them in if they were the right parts, because they did not look similar to the old ones. They said that their springs were specially made to last much longer than the normal springs (meaning the right parts?). It makes me wonder if their "experienced technician" knows what he is doing? They definitely do charge a lot more than other companies. I asked them to take their springs back and pay me back so I can hire someone else to do it right the first time. They will not. They will instead send out the original guy who screwed it up in the first place to try to fix it. Good grief! CALL AROUND before hiring these guys! read more

Our garage door got stuck late in the day. The motor was making a loud grinding sound. We tried to open the door manually but we could hardly move it and when we did the cable came off and the door was out of balance. Called Precision in the evening and they gave us a window of when the tech would arrive (between 8-10pm). Mike called us about a half hour before 8 and gave us a abetter estimate when to expect him as he was just wrapping up another job. Mike came later and after taking a look gave his recommendations explaining the work without pressuring us on any parts or service. When we decided, Mike was very thorough in his work and made sure everything was in working order no matter how late the job took. The garage door is in better shape now than before it broke. Needless to say, we're very satisfied with the repair and would definitely recommend them. read more

Total rip off. My torsion spring broke on my garage door, I removed the spring and went on line, found the same spring(which has lasted 8 years)for 31.95 but it would take a week to get it. So I called around and found Precision Overhead Garage Door, they tell me it's 49.00 for a service call and about 95.00 for the spring. When the guy gets there he tells me the spring is 168.00 and I need some other parts. The total is 316.00 I tell him to forget it and he says I still owe for the service call even though he has done nothing. I call the office and am told that there springs are superior to other springs. So I agree, 5 minutes later he is finished, no adjusting, oiling or anything else, 252.00. Took some numbers off the spring he installed and looked it up on the internet, 35.00 with shipping. read more

I strongly suggest you don't use this service. As the previous review said, they rip you off. My husband just call them about the broken springs and they told him it's about $175 to replace the springs. But when the guy came, it turns out it's $175 for just one spring. It costed us $380 plus $50 service to replace two springs. And the guy also asked him to replace other bolts for $100+ and he rejected. As a matter of fact, the springs are only sold for about $100 for two online and it includes all the other parts. I give this firm the highest marks! They have come out to my house twice in the last year. Each time I presented them with a difficult logistical challenge with a door off its hinges stuck closed and no man-door to access from the back. Both technicians were right on time, courteous and professional. Whats more impressive though is both (particularly Cody) were great problem solvers and went out of their way to preserve the door and equipment while inventing creative solutions to fix the problem! One even gave his personal cell phone so that if it broke again, he guaranteed the work and would come back out to fix it. Amazing! read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They obviously work on commission because what started out to be on a spring change, ended up a $989 upsell to get new parts and warranty.
