Had a Sunday emergency repair performed after a neighbor backed into our garage door. Called Precision Door Repair and a technician was out within an hour of calling. Our technician "DOUG B." was outstanding. Not only was he knowledgable and personable, he was very thorough in his work and getting our door working like new. Initially we assumed we would have to get a "new door" but after Doug arrived he said he would not leave until the door work and he kept his work. Will recommend this company and Doug to all friends and fellow HOA members. read more

I am extremely please with the work of Precision and especially Mike R. who came out to tune up my garage door. He was very knowledgeable and professional and helped my program my keyless entry pad as well. I would recommend Precision to anyone that needs their garage door serviced! read more

Dishonest, untrustworthy, unreasonable, and unfair business. Really have to be careful and not just believe in everything they say. They quoted me well over $735 (including tax + installation) for a new garage door opener plus to install it. I called other places and for the same exact product plus installation of the product were charging well below $500. I don't mind giving money to business but I really feel this is unfair and improper business practice towards the retail consumer. Everybody works hard for their money in this economy so it's not right just to try to rip off people like that. read more

I had the Precision Door Service guys come and look into my garage door problem. (Garage door was not opening). They diagnosed it as a motor problem and quoted about $625 to replace the motor. Motor was fixed and garage door worked fine BUT they said they do not carry and fix the bulbs. We were told we had to put our own bulbs. Not a problem, we handed some energy saving bulbs (flourescent).. Mechanic said they won't fit, we need to put the old style incandescent bulbs. So after spending $625 we have a working garage door but the light does not work till I get a appropriate bulb from the store. [WE do not have good natural light in the garage so this is quite inconvenient] If you are using Precision Door Service please be aware.. read more

Avoid this business!!! When I called about replacing a broken spring and asked for total cost, the operator quoted a price of $49.95 for service charge and ~$70 to $168 for a spring. When the technician Mike R. Arrives, he immediately quoted ~$400 because of additional service charge ~$150. This is a scam. I ended up paying the technician $49.95 and letting him go with nothing gone. I don't mind pay the right amount and definitely don't want to be cheated!!! Plus, the technician was very unfriendly. When I said I wanted to call the company asking about the quote difference, he said he was very busy and didn't want to wait for me to call. read more

We got up this Friday morning and got ready for work, and bam! the garage door only opened 6 inches! I got their number from the Verified Home Services book that I have. They were able to send someone between 10 and 12. James arrived at 10:40. Precision Overhead Garage Door Service was outstanding. We received top notch customer service from James, our technician. He provided friendly, courteous, and professional service. He checked on the condition of the door, then explained what was needed, giving me 3 options and how much each one was going to cost. Our garage door is quieter, smoother, and I love the new, more powerful LiftMaster with all it's functionality. I couldn't be happier. Thank you, James! read more

Not sure if anyone could top Aramis! My garage door wouldn't open on Sunday night. I called Precision @ 8:10, Aramis arrived at my door @ 8:35. What a turn around time! That's not it! Not only was Aramis prompt, he was polite, clean and professional. He took his time to examine the entire garage door even though we were both already certain right off the bat that it it broken spring. He did his walk through anyways to make sure there are not additional problems. Aramis explained everything from start to finish, and kept me in the loop. Also, he stayed polite the entire time even though tonight's temperature inside of my garage was well over 85 degrees. Thanks for helping out as fast as you did! I highly recommend Preciscion Garage doors and specifically Aramis read more

They charged $350.00 for what really was a service call. The door was off track so they adjusted and realigned but no new parts were used. I will not call them in the future and I would not recommened them to any of my friends unless you really want to "over pay" read more

I agree with the previous reviews. They are a scam! We called them out to repair a weak cable, the service guy started telling us all the things wrong with our door and that it needed to be replaced at an estimate of $1,500 to $2,000. He said the rollers were worn and the spring would be damaged and fall off in a week. We agreed to replace the rollers which cost $150 plus the cable for an additional $200. In hindsight, I HIGHLY recommend getting at least two or three estimates first. But don't bother calling Precision, because they will charge you $50 just to come out. read more

Great service! James, the technician who arrived and performed the work, clearly explained the scope of work and what my repair options were. He was friendly, efficient, and hardworking - he had all the components already in his truck so he was able to complete the repair within a few hours of arriving for the diagnosis. The door now functions more smoothly than I ever thought possible (it is QUIET!) thanks to the new pulleys, cables, guidewheels (polymer material like rollerblade wheels) and powdercoated spring which doesn't require lubrication anymore. He adjusted the tracks so the door properly fit the opening. All in all, fantastic experience and highly recommended. Thanks James! read more

I scheduled an appointment with these guys and Brandon gave me a call even before he came out to give me some suggestions on what could be the problem. This was in case it was something minor I could fix myself and they wouldn't have to charge me the service fee. I thought that was a nice touch and something that most companies wouldn't bother to do. Also, it would've made me feel like an idiot if I paid the fee for someone to come wipe off the sensors. I ended up needing a little more work than something simple but it was all done quickly and for a fair price. Brandon was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would definitely recommend going with these guys. read more

I had a squeaky garage door that sounded terrible. Mike had it diagnosed in just a few seconds. Mike had it repaired and moving quietly and smoothly in about a half hour. He really knew what he was doing. My hat is off to Precision Garage Door. I'll be using them again. Signed, A Very Happy Client read more

Yesterday, my wife hit the Home Link by accident (thus closing the garage door) while backing up our Tesla X out of garage without looking at the rear view screen. The door was damaged badly, bulging out extensively and could not close or open, but left a gap for animal or people to squeeze in. Precision's desk manager was very considerate and arranged a same-day service in the late afternoon. She sent a senior mechanic, James W., who came soon after. James restored the door into near original shape with full functions in a couple hours. He also went over patiently the options on replacing with a new door. James was a friendly and highly capable mechanic, he did an excellent job. We are grateful to Precision for heeding our emergency call for help in a stressful situation, came quickly and stay late to finish the work. We highly recommend James and Precision in our neighborhood chat group and to all our friends and relatives. read more

I would never use this company again and I do not recommend them unless you want to get ripped off and over charged. I had a double garage door that got stuck mid way due to my kids playing around with it in April of 2012.I called Precision Garage Doors and was honest on what happened to the door. The technician Rick came out, He accessed the door and explained that the cables need to be replaced, the track was bent and it would cost me $125.00 plus labor and parts to fix. I was charged $366.00 for replacing the cable, straightening the track and greasing all the moving parts. Rick told me I had a one year warranty and if ANYTHING WENT WRONG it would be covered. WRONG. The door got jammed this morning on an empty cardboard box and came off the track that was previously bent. Again, I was HONEST and did not lie about what happened. I called and spoke with Mike the Operations Manager, he told me that Rick was the best technician and that he must have told me I need an over haul but I must have refused. Mike was sure and assumed that Rick was thorough and that I refused because I did not want to pay $850.00. THIS IS NOT WHAT HAPPENED. If Rick was thorough, why didn't her write on the work order his recommendations and a clear break down of the costs. Mike was not able to explain, why if the cable was $125.00 and I was charged $366.00, was the remaining $241.00 labor. He avoided my question and never answered it. Mike told me this happens all the time and then PEOPLE call and act like its not their fault. I know it is my fault for leaving a cardboard box in the way, but you would think that this would be handled differently. The truth is Rick did not recommend any additional work on the door or I would have paid for it. Rick did say he could put in a whole new door and it would cost me over $1200.00 and that I did refuse. He did not put on the work order that he recommended to have a door overhaul. After 45 minutes of discussion, Mike stated he could offer me a door overhaul done by them and he would give me a credit for the $366.00 I already paid. A door overhaul usually costs $850.00, so I would only have to pay an additional $490.00. When I asked about the warranty, he did not clarify what would be covered if I have another issue in the future with my door. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Why would I give them more money for a warranty full of holes. This company appears to just be in to make fast money and does not care about customer satisfaction and retention. read more

Brandon came out on a Sunday and provided great work and even better customer service.

One star for prompt service, but otherwise find another company. There are many out there. I have replaced broken springs at my house three times for $135-$145 with absolutely no drama. Recently the single spring broke on the garage door at my rental condo, inconveniencing the tenant. I checked the web and chose Precision because they were local and available. Paulino arrived and said I needed not only a new spring, but new rollers, bearings and cables for $950 +tax. I immediately smelled a rat as the entire low end, single car system could be replaced for about $600 NEW! I declined and magically the price went down to $850, then $750. I insisted on just a new spring. Paulino acted disgusted and grunted that it would be $168--more than I expected, but didn't have time to start over. Paulino finished and gave me a bill for $413! He had taken it upon himself to replace the "center plate bearing" and added a $50 service fee (that no one else charges). We debated, but I ended up paying the bill. Shame on me, buyer beware and all that stuff. I called Operations Manager Mike Feahy, primarily about Paulino's tactics and the poor reflection on his company. Mike was mainly concerned that Paulino didn't get written authorization from me before starting the work, which would not have happened for more than $168. Mike calculated the disputed amount to be $180 and offered to split it; two weeks later my card was credited $90. Reading the reviews indicates your experience will depend on the tech dispatched. Doug and Erik appear to be great. All the specific references to Paulino are negative. There is also a disturbing pattern of comments about up charges and the need for extra work. read more

My garage door was working intermittently so I called Precision Garage Doors and they told me that since my garage door was installed in 2005 that I really needed to install a new motor, a new clicker, new ball bearings and all for only $2500. They also said my garage door was super heavy so I should really buy a new door from them, and that would of course add much more money to the already expensive quote, and the work would take @ 3 hours.. Fortunately I had friends at the house during this time and they counseled me against using this service, since they had had much cheaper quotes in the past. So I called Garage Door Factory and Cole came out, looked at my garage door and said it looked like new and found that one of my sensors was simply pointing down, that's why the door worked intermittently. He also cleaned a few cobwebs out of my sensors and lubed the bearings and said with my ultra light garage door my opener will likely last forever. He charged me $120. I was almost ripped off my Precision Garage Door for work and and door I didn't need. Don't be fooled by this company, they are rip off artists! Garage Door Factory is in Redwood City, their phone is 650-365-5642. Cole, who serviced my door, says he tries to work with people over the phone to fix their problem first, so they don't have to pay for him to come out and wait for that service. Call him first!!! read more

Our experience with Precision Overhead Garage Door Service was outstanding. From the moment we called until the technician waved good bye after fixing our door, we received top notch customer service. James, our technician, provided friendly, courteous, and professional service while maintaining a good sense of humor. He was everything we needed in a technician after the very stressful experience of our garage door getting stuck. He explained what he was going to do and how much it was going to cost. It was obvious that he enjoyed his work and was excited about rebuilding an older garage door. His trainee Ron was very polite and courteous as well and I'm sure he will be a great technician after being trained by someone as capable as James. Thank you for coming out the same day and working until after 8:00 on a Saturday evening. read more

Surprised to see this many great reviews. Not sure what people are used to paying, but I felt robbed by these guys: due to a box blocking the rail of my garage door, the door ended up skewed out of its rail and got stuck, halfway open. The good thing about Precision Door Service: they showed up the same day. The bad news: the guy wasn't friendly at all and worse: told me he could fix it, for no less than $420! If not, then I'd have to pay the $50 fee for stopping by. Given that I couldn't leave the garage door open, I reluctantly ended up paying. 20 minutes later, he was done. $420 for 20 minutes of fixing a door, what a scam! read more

This company is a rip off. The guy came on a Saturday. The lady I spoke with told me the tension spring costs $160.00 the guy said I have two springs. Agreed each one is $178. The bearing has to be changed too another $200.00 taxes $50.00 fuel charge $30 Service charge$50.00. By the timer he left I had paid him $600.00 and he kept negotiating I must change the rollers for $200 dollars. He was obnoxious pushy and too aggressive for my liking. Never using these scum bags again. Hate it 600.00 for a twenty minute job. Absolute liars. Hate these companies all of them are such charters. Never use them. read more

We found this company in the yellow pages. I checked out the websites of all other competitors and this company called my attention the most. I loved the fact that we were guaranteed an appointment the same day and that the yellow pages ad also guaranteed that all technicians are sent out with all parts...no waiting for parts needed! Our technician, Mike R., was very knowledgeable and fixed our problem within 10-15 minutes of getting started and made sure that it was working properly before leaving. I will definitely be recommending this company to anyone who needs it and we'll also be calling back if we need any help in the future. Thanks again! read more

Look out for Bate and swiich. I had callled for repair from ad under $200 for spring replacement. Tech said I needed new shaft, add'll under $200, Ok. Our garage door broke the night before New Years and James came by right on New Years Day, for which we are thankful for since it's a major holiday! He was super nice about it and helped us fix our garage, which was broke due to loose springs. He even offered to update the warranty on the garage from the previous owner to us, which would save us money for when we need new springs. All in all, a very nice guy with very nice service. read more

We called precision door in a panic. We were selling our house and our current, fairly new garage door, got stuck and was bending. Precision was able to come over within the hour and when they got here offered to fix our door and install a new opener on the spot. James offered amazing customer service. I also could believe how quiet and well lit the new device is! We are very grateful to them! Thank you. read more

Our experience was similar to a few others I am reading here with respect to the upselling. We had a broken spring. The technician that arrived was not the person we were told was arriving, but he was on time. He proceeded to tell us that the bearings were worn and the torsion bar would need to be replaced as well the cables, brackets, etc. totaling just over $2000 with taxes which would have taken several hours. As we have not hear loud noises, creaking or popping noises, indications the door was having difficulty working, we were skeptical that these items needed replacing at all. We declined the work, paid for the call ($49) and called the company (Madden) that installed the door originally (they could not come out as early as PDS.) They came out the next day and after review replace the springs, inspected and lubed the roller bearings that roll in the tracks for a grand total of $605.00 and took all of 35 minutes. BIG difference. read more

We were very disappointed with Precision Garage Door. We purchased a brand new door in 9/2011. It was higher than any other quote we received. All 3 people who came out explained that it was because they offered a LIFETIME WARRANTY on the door and if ANYTHING goes wrong just let them know and it would be covered. The cables broke and so we called for service. They looked up and said they would be out the same day. Once they arrived the service technician told us we had to pay a service call charge. We regretfully paid it and phoned the office for clarification. I questioned WHY this wasn't told to us when we purchased the door OR when I called in for service. BS way to conduct business. Called in to speak with management and no one would take the call. A company like this won't be around long mistreating and lying to customers. read more

Please do not use this company. They lie and try to up the price. I can tell you horror stories with trying to work with Michael the manager. They do not stand behind their work unless you replace all parts. The safety check is a joke. a ploy to rip you off. They fixed my door,$350 iot broke two days later. I got a local company who fixed it for $150 and it has been working great. They told me that the door was in great shape and just need balancing. They also told me that it didn't look like anything had been done by Precision Door. STAY AWAY John in Santa Cruz read more

Instead of repairing the opener (a Genie), they immediately replaced it with what they have. I was not given an option. They left behind only one remote, without offering more. Later, when I called them for more units, they said it costs $60 each plus $49 service fee. I ordered two new remotes from Amazon at $22 each! I was also not told that the new garage door opener could not be programmed to my car's built in garage door opener! It turned out that I needed a so called repeater. They SHOULD have alerted me about this and should have offered me the repeater. After having struggled with programming mu car's opener in vain, eventually, I found out through internet about the repeater. I ordered one through Amazon, since I did not want to get ripped of by this company and its poor service. ADDENDUM: Immediately upon my writing of the above review, I was contacted by a manager. He sincerely apologized for the shortcomings and offered to immediately send a technician to remedy all the shortcomings. I have found this immediate response quite satisfactory. Since I had already ordered the necessary additional components, we simply agreed to a compensation of my cost. I have also informed them that in their setup the customer has no practical way to access a manager. I hope they will also work on this. read more

Precision illegally posted comments using my name. Not only one person but 4 of them, the following repair personnel posted comments using my name: Mike R posted 7, Malek T posted 5, Ricky U posted 4, Paulino M posted 6. They did these post over a 4 month period, even using dates before the service date call. I was dissatisfied with their work and this is what I got in return. I paid with my credit card and a week later my credit number was used for illegal purchases totally over $ 982.00. The bank called me to verify purchases since it was not my style of purchases. The bank cancelled my card. How did I find this out? I was doing a search on my name and this entry showed up that I did a review for "Precision". The website "thebayareagaragedoors.com" showed my name with these 22 reviews leaving great comments for Precision service. Too bad I couldn't leave a "should loose their license". I only gave 1 star because that is the lowest allowed. The technician, Shawn, appeared competent and very pleasant. However the problem came with their pricing and guarantee. Shawn had to call to price the repair and quoted me $350 but they would not guarantee the job even if it didn't work the next day. I thought this was outrageous. Since they didn't have replacement for my frayed cables, I was quoted another price by phones view for another service call with parts as $450 in addition to the $350. I declined their service for price gauging and for not standing behind their service I had the entire job done the next day for $231 by R & S in Concord. Pat, the owner reached out to me by phone and apologized for what happened. He said they are a family business and wants to treat his clients well he offered to compensate me for my time and split my costs but I declined. I appreciate him trying to right this situation and he promised to improve his company's policy and treat clients better. I am adding a star to my review. read more

THIEF!!! LIAR!!! CROOK!!! Talk about being RIPPED OFF!!!! THEY SUCK THEY LIE. I called to ask about a simple repair: the cotter pin connecting the door opener cable to the corner of the door had snapped. Nothing else broken or otherwise damaged, but the tension on spring required professional to reconnect. They said "$50 for service call, that's it." No problem. Until Big Joe arrives, and starts spinning this story - "oh No, this is major repair this is a total mess this will require major [surgery]..." Basically spins a BS story so that I think the door is off track, the mechanism somehiw busted and my roof will fly off if he doesn't undertake this major procedure to fix it. Now it's $200 minimum. I don't know what to do, he's got me worried this is a major problem and I don't know, I do need the door fixed and , oh, he's 6'3" and I'm a bit intimidated. So I -- stupid stupid stupid -- say OK. He then proceeds to pull out a little tool and spends exactly 12 minutes to 1) unwind the spring, 2) reattach the cable with a new cotter pin (cost 2 cents) and 3) re-wind the spring. We recorded the whole thing. What bullshit!!! at that rate, he's charging $200 for 10 minutes, that's about $1000/hr . Really! I'm filing a complaint with Better Business Bureau. A couple of nights ago I noticed that 1 of my torsion springs over my garage door had broken. Even though I was able to still run my garage door when I set the garage door motor on full power, I really didn't like putting that much strain on the motor. So, I knew that I really needed to replace the springs urgently or stop using the garage door for a while. I called around for repair availability and pricing... and basically, suffice it to say, most repair places I called were not available outside the normal M-F 9-4pm workday, and those who worked on the weekend were already booked and had no availability. Well lucky for me, I finally called Precision Door Service. They were available after normal work hours and was very competitive on their prices. Not too mention some coupons you can get on their website: http://thebayareagaragedoors.com. The Customer Reps were very friendly over the phone and helpful in providing some cost estimates so that you could determine if they were competitive on pricing. Lets face it, now a days, price matters. Unfortunately, I'm no millionaire, and I can't afford to throw money away ever. The technician they sent out was very knowledgable and friendly. He provided an inspection of all the working components of the garage door and provided recommendations using a 25 point inspection list. He quickly and accurately replaced the torsion springs and he even lubricated my garage door/rails so that it would not squeak. All in all it was great service. The only hitch was a minor billing one, which was immediately and smoothly taken care of by Mike (Manager), when I called him regarding the extraneous charge. Mike was fair, honest and forthright and, if he is any example of what Precision Door Services is about, then I'd rate them highly. read more
