Do NOT use Precision. Ignore the Diamond Certified they brag about, must have paid someone off. I called for garage repair. After giving a very detailed and simple explanation of the cable unwinding, they would not provide any kind of "ESTIMATE" over the phone which is a RED Flag. Appt. time 8am -12 and 30 minute call before arrival. There service person does NOT show up until 11:55 and no call. Now get this: The guys looks like a drunk, then looks over the door and in 5 minutes quotes me $360.00. I look at him and say sorry. He then pretends to talk on the phone and suddenly quotes $320.00. "This is Precision way of doing business, tell customer double or 3X the price and take the customer for all they can get. Believe me, you will be sorry if you call them. I then called a reputable company and paid roughly 40% less. Ask for a WRITTEN Quote from anyone. Ask to see their Employee name and ID. If it sounds outrageous, tell them Goodbye. You will save lot of time and money read more

Sheridan Abad did a good job. He was on time. Picked up after his self. Had his mask on. Job well done

Great service. My grandmother's garage door stopped working and they were able to help us on the same day! I was unfortunately unable to be there to help her understand exactly what she was paying for, like I usually like to do, but the service from Sheridan was amazing and he walked her through every step of what he was doing! Amazing service and amazing quality. 10 out of 10 would recommend their services! read more

I was extremely satisfied with the repair service and purchase of a new garage door. Brandon came out and was very knowledgeable, responsive and serviced our broken spring prior to us receiving our new door. Tina was so accommodating and I was grateful for the conversation we had prior to the install. Our installer was Shawn and he was excellent and thorough from start to finish. My wife and I could not be happier! We strongly recommend Precision Door service in Hayward. read more

Once again I feel the need to write a review for your great customer service! I called about a noise that started after John C came out and replaced My springs 2 weeks ago. The woman on the phone was so nice no questions asked and found me a quick appt the next day ( today) for John to check everything. He once again was so friendly and polite and took the time readjust a few things and reassure me that everything was good and not wearing unevenly. I'm telling you I think you need to recruit more from Tennessee! He deserves a Big raise! ( I mean he is getting married and has a new puppy!) seriously so refreshing to have such prompt reliable kind people working for your company! Kelly H. read more

This company gave an estimate ($900) that was more than 4 times higher than what I paid to another company. The tec stated that I would need bearings and some other services which alone would cost $400. The bearings, I found later, did not even need replacement. If you need garage door services, look for another company. read more

Larry in Sales and the installer (I forgot his name) were great. We are thrilled with our new beautiful garage door and smooth and quite opener. We got a wood farmhouse-look door and it upgraded the look of our house twenty-fold. Thank you Larry, for your help in the design. Install was smooth and complicated, but done very well. We found had Precision Garage Door in Hayward (1-866-694-3311) through Angi which we were using for the first time. Although listed with many positive reviews and guarantees, our experience was negative. They were called to repair a broken spring on a single-size garage door. The technician gave our tenant an estimate of $1541.94 to replace the spring along with many other parts; and she told him to proceed before getting authorization from us, the owners. When we saw the estimate, we called the tenant and spoke with the repairman. We only wanted the spring repaired and not all the additional parts and labor. He explained that his company wouldn't replace the spring without replacing some additional parts to the tune of about $500. We think that we should have been told this detail before coming out to the service call. We would have had an opportunity to obtain another quote since this number was on the high side of our expectation. In any case, because the serviceman had already begun removing parts for replacement beyond the broken spring, he charged labor for removal and for putting them back on. Our final bill for this repair was $800.35 for something that should have run about $350. In fact, we had a quote for a brand-new door for less than $1200, lower than the cost for the refurbishment that Precision Door wanted to do. We think that this vendor was gouging us and also pulling a 'bait and switch'. The technician, Travis, should have gotten authorization from owners before beginning repairs, which should be company policy. Upselling here was very hard and unacceptable. The estimate was about five times what the repair should have cost and we paid more than double for what the repair should have cost. We rate this vendor one-star and would not refer anyone to this company nor use Angi again. read more

Precision Door Service indeed! Cory knew exactly what he needed to fix my garage door. From pinpointing the problem with the door arms, tuning the gears so it doesn't jump, and helping us install a key vault release. He even worked us into the next weekend day, which we were super appreciative of because we have work and kids to contend with. All around great guy and great work! read more

Had put off getting my 21 year old motor looked at as it had not been working for a couple of months. They were very efficient and set up an appointment right away. John Chisgar came out and recommended a new one (which I suspected I would need) and installed it within an hour. Thrilled with Precision and the job they did. I also felt he was honest and trustworthy. I would definitely recommend. read more

Precision Door Service came to my rescue last Friday morning.I called them on Thursday evening and they were out at 8:15 Friday morning. My car was in the garage, the door was hopelessly broken and it was imperative that I get out. Other door companies I called said that it would be a week before they could come out. The repairman for Precision Door was professional and courteous. The price was fair and the quality and quickness of the repair was impressive. read more

Our garage door got misaligned and stuck midway on a weekend and we were looking for immediate assistance . We called precision door service due to 24/7 assistance. We were told the technician would arrive the next day morning. The technician Gabriel did show up and took about a few minutes to detect what was wrong with door. He gave us a quote with a $49 service charge which sounded reasonable to us . we got the door fixed in the next 45 minutes. Overall , we had good experience with them. read more

Precision really does stand by the customer! I had the best service with a very professional tech Chewy. My garage door springs were faulty and made it very difficult for me to lift and close. Not only did Chewy explain the problem, change out the springs and test them He stayed until the job was done so as not to inconvenience me another day. Ho hustle, no pressure to buy or upgrade, just a honest, knowledgeable, straight forward, curtious tech. So refreshing, if you ever need a great tech ask for Chewy! read more

Called before 8 AM for repair service and was told nothing available until tomorrow morning. So much for same day service guaranteed.

We had battled with the company that installed our automatic garage door (not Precision) to come fix it when it went off its rails and stopped working . That horrible company left us hanging for 2 days and then didn't show up when they said they would. We called Precision due to their Diamond rating and everything changed for the better! James Walker came that very day and fixed the door, which was a complicated job due to the shoddy workmanship done by others. He was friendly and quick to understand the issues that we hoped he could fix. He is a can-do professional and Precision's prices were reasonable. James even came back several days later as a courtesy call to check that everything was working well. This is the company you want! Robin C. read more

We are still in the selection phase, but Mike showed up on time and was by far the most informative of the three companies we have contacted. He told exactly how they would be installed, and how long everything would take, including the time to respond to me. I had in mind a particular brand, and he focused on that, but said that he has an additional brand that has equivalent or superior quality and will cost less. Since that is a bit of a reverse incentive move on his part (sell lesser priced door), I respect that. And he will quote me both. read more

A few months back, I called a few garage door companies to review my current garage system and possible overhaul of the entire 3 door garage. Larry Chen from Precision was also among the companies I had requested to come out and take a look. I ended up going with precision because of Larry and his professionalism. He was very detailed and even came back to review and take photos of a concern I had with the concrete slab being an inch lower. He wanted to make sure there is no problems down the road and with install etc. really appreciated his service and thoroughly going through all the options. I ended up ordering the CHI doors and can't wait for the install in a few weeks. Thanks again Larry for making it a memorable moment especially during this environment. Larry was extremely professional, patient, and knew the business! Precision is lucky to have Larry since he's the first impression of the company! read more

I made an appointment to have someone come out to give me an estimate on putting in a new garage door and the garage door opener. They asked me if I was ready to proceed with the project if it was agreeable and I said yes. They gave me a timeframe of 8 AM to noon for today. I received a call around 9AM and was told that it might be another hour or so. Then around 1030 the technician called again to tell me it would be closer to noon, and I thanked him for letting me know. At 11:45 AM, I got a phone call telling me we would need to reschedule for tomorrow. I feel so inconvenienced. I had turned down an invitation to hike with a girlfriend for this. Why would I ever make another appointment only to be told again that they can't make it. I'm very disappointed in this company as they had high points on their review. Their commercial on TV made them look like they were some nice family business. It's all very unprofessional. read more

Called to arrange service and diagnosis. Came next day, although running over 2 hrs late (7:30). Mario and Erik were professional and very helpful. My remote control clicker stopped working so I reached out for a repair service. The company was extremely accommodating and flexible in scheduling after I cancelled my next day Sat. appointment, they came the next day on Sunday at the time I wanted. Absolutely can't beat that. Rick O. showed up on time. He analyzed the problem with my 30 year old garage door system. Even though it was going to cost $712., I determined even if it wasn't totally needed with the much improved, up to date system, all the new stuff he was going to install and with the latest to code safety features and that with the the materials and labor and service provided it was very well worth it and really good value and bargain to boot. Not to mention the limited lifetime warranty. (I hope they don't raise there prices after reading my comment, what do I know anyway!) Rick got to work at 5:30pm on a Sunday evening of Xmas week, in the most professional manner, he knew every aspect of what to do and was finished a very lot of hard work and new equipment installing by 6:45pm. He thoroughly instructed me in how to operate the new system and even gave me help in programming my home-link in-car clicker, so before he left I even had that working at no extra cost. He thoroughly cleaned up and even took the trash with him. He was always courteous, friendly and patient with the many inquiries I had about it. It was Sunday evening and a very cold one at that and there was no heat in my garage. But he remained gracious the whole time. I'm retired from spending over thirty years devoted to totally working in the engineering and construction industry, working at professionally scheduling all types of construction and engineering projects. So I may be qualified at evaluating these things after seeing so much construction work being done over many, many years? Thank you Rick and company! read more

Our service experience was excellent. We had requested an emergency service call, and whereas other so called "24/7" services came back with "sorry, we can't have someone to help until tomorrow," Precision came through and had our tech (Matt) show up well within the time slot that we were given (a mere hour from when we first called). Matt was extremely professional, outlined the resolution and gave us an immediate estimate. He followed up the repairs with a full inspection; we were very pleased with the service. We do not plan on contacting anyone else for our future garage door needs. read more

Our garage door ceased working property on May 3, 2013, after six years due to a fault in its electronic card: it would open fine via the button in the garage or via car clickers, but the only way it would close was by holding down the button in the garage until the door triggered the limit switch (the one-time closing signal from the car clicker would not work to close the door). The relay controlling the solenoid that causes the door to close when the garage button was pressed (but not held down) was getting a premature signal from the electronic card to cease closing the door even though the descending door had not reached the fully closed position (holding the button on the wall of the garage until the door reached the limit switch sent a continuous signal that kept the door closing until the limit switch was reached). Of course, as I expected would be the case, a replacement electronic card cost more than half what it would cost to replace everything in the six year old system (except the door itself and its frame/rail system which were in fine shape). I called Precision Door at 510-657-7531 around 7 AM [sic] and, after a short musical hold, spoke to a human being who set up an appointment with Mike R. between 10 AM and 12 Noon the same day. Mike showed up near the end of the two-hour window and confirmed my belief (and fear) that our unit's electronic card was the reason for the problem. Mike went over several alternatives with me and provided more detail re the way the failed card. We ended up getting a new motor, a new rail/belt, two new clickers, and a new wall button (the last four items being required since a new equivalent motor from a different manufacturer was installed; I was not exactly a big fan of the old system at this point!). Mike completed the installation quickly, explained what he was doing and why step by step, and fully tested the new installation. While I was Not at all pleased that our old garage door had ceased to work properly after only six years and that the high price of a new card for the old system meant that buying a replacement card did not make sense, I was very happy with the service Mike provided. read more

I called Precision at 6:30pm on a Wednesday night after called 2 places and no one will be able to come. My garage door was stuck with the cable on one side came loose. Joseph called me at 7pm and let me know that he could come over at 8pm. It was such a relief. He came on time and gave me 2 options : 1) put the cable back, balance the door and be able to close , $50 service fee plus $379 labor come to $400 something . 2) Do all that plus change all 10 roller for a total of $280 more. I chose option 2 since I have to pay the labor anyway. I am happy with Joseph, he fixed the door at no time and changed all rollers for another 20 minutes. But first of all, I was wondering if the labor cost of $379 pretty standard or I got rip off? Secondly, why there is a service fee on top of the labor cost? I checked out the cost for 10 rollers online is less than $100 , resell it for $280 is pretty steep profit. I am very happy with the service of Joseph but just curious that I could get something cheaper if I have time to shop around read more

3 STARS rating (see 3/17/17 update on why I updated it to 4 starts) Rafael was my technician to either fix or replace my garage door opener. He gave me options for the door. I picked one that would also open using an app on my phone. Unfortunately, I was not told that I needed to buy another $120 device to be able to use my phone until after it was installed and I asked what app I needed to do the pairing. So that was minus 1 star. The other deduction in stars was do to the fact that he was an hour late past my 4 hr window. I had to reschedule my afternoon because of it. And it took 3 weeks to get the appointment. Rafael was polite and did good work. 4 STARS update - 3/17/17 When I was on yelp today, I saw that I had missed a response to my original review from Pat, the owner, from 2 months ago. I responded to his note and he called me right away to ask what he could do to make my experience better. He offered to install the $120 device for a lower cost but it was still more than I can afford to spend right now. I am upgrading my review to 4 stars because I appreciated the owner taking the time to address my issue. read more

They called twice to change/delay the time. This was a minor irritant. I planned my day around the appointment. The thing I didn't like AT ALL was the deceptive pricing. A spring was broken in my garage door. I told them I had the type of door that uses two springs. On the phone they said the spring was $98 and the service visit was 50. So, I'm thinking, $150. (I knew the springs were $20 at the hardware store, but figured the price included installation.) When they got here, they said I need to replace both springs. Okay, fine. Then when it came time to pay, there was an additional labor charge; surprise! I paid with minor protest, but wouldn't recommend them. Pricey to pay $320 to replace a garage door spring. The garage does not close propperly since the spring was replaced, with a substantial gap on the bottom. Leaves blow in, and I am sure there is room for mice as well. read more

I am very unhappy with the service that Precsion provided. About 6 months ago I had the Garage Door Opener, Chain and Rollers replaced and the was told the door was balanced and everything looked fine at a cost of $535. About 3 months later I had trouble closing the door and the same technician came out and made some adjustments, no charge. Well, just last week the door started having issues again and they sent a new technician out, who told me the first technician didn't know what he was doing, had installed the sensors backwards, (which he fixed at no charge), but was then informed that the door need rebalancing and he offered to do it for $225 and when I questioned him and said the previous tech has said it was balanced he lowered the price to $175 and again reiterated that the former tech was inexperienced. I declined his offer and called the home office operation mgr who promised to investigate and call me back. He did not call me back and a couple of days later I called again. After a lengthy conversation I was informed that the technicain should not have offered to rebalance the door and that the company did not want them doing that work for fear of getting hurt in case one of the springs breaks, etc.... Bottom line, the company did NOTHING to resolve the issue and I am stuck wondering when/if the door will fail again after spending $535 on what appears to be a bandaid fix. It also left me with the feeling that you are at the mercy of the technician that you get and that the company does NOT stand behind their work and guarantee customer satisfaction. read more

Terrible, didn't come in 2 hour time range, incompetent, bait and switch-said $49.00 and wouldn't honor this for a service call and reprogramming, all about the upsell to $699 new motor. read more

I would never call this company again. My experience was similar to that of Michael M.'s. They quoted me a $49.95 service fee to look at the door. I knew the problem was simply that the cable that counterbalances the door had come off the reel. After arriving and trying to sell me a new door, they offered to fix the door for $450 and subsequently $350 citing the need for new parts, namely rollers. I defiantly said NO to their proposal and agreed to pay the $49.95 fee. While I was in the house getting a check, the serviceman called the boss and apparently was told to waive the the fee. Being mechanically inclined, and having a few tools, I decided to fix it myself and do what I was asking him to do. It took me about an hour and a half (I'm 83 years old), and required no parts. All I did was what I asked of him -- rewind the cable. It works great!! read more

We just purchased our house, and the previous owner didn't leave any remote for us nor told us how to program the code. So based on the touchpad logo, I gave Precision Door Service a call around 11am, I am so surprised that I could get a same day appointment between 1 and 3 pm. Our technician Mike R was scheduled and he gave me a call saying that he was wrapping up from his current project and would stop by within 10 mins, that was 1.15pm. When he arrived, he found out that our motor wasn't able to pair, so he explained to us in details about the situation, and provided options with the possible cost. We in the end decided to replace the motor and the belt. Mike skipped his lunch and started to work on them right away. It was a hot day, around 95 degree in Sunnyvale, but Mike didn't complain or told us to schedule another time, he just did it! Within 1 hour, as he promised, everything was done. He installed a new motor and belt, then gave us a new touch pad and a wall controller, and programmed our remote! We tested it, everything worked great. At last, he gave us some tips and left the instruction for us. Mike is super professional and his personality is just so nice. We will definitely recommend Precision to all family and friends, especially Mike. Thank you so much, Mike! We really appreciate everything you did for us! read more

Precision Door Service has repaired my garage door on two occasions (in 3/11 to replace the garage door opener and rollers, and today to replace two springs and a bearing), and both times the final bill was 50-60% higher than the verbal estimate given by the repairman. I have concluded that this is a dishonest company. Today, I was told that I would pay $185 for the springs (which I confirmed with the repairman), $95 for the bearing, and around $100 for labor, but the total bill was $650. The previous bill was over $1,000. And yes, each time they tried to sell me stuff I did not want, like a lifetime warranty on the springs. Next time, I will look for someone more trustworthy. read more

Well, I have a positive update. Precision came back and made it right. Thank you! Can't believe the positive reviews on this company and am giving it zero stars. It deserves zero stars, but apparently on Yelp you have to give at least one star so I'm doing that. We called this morning and asked for an estimate for a new spring on our garage, because the spring broke. All we needed to be replaced was the spring, but the guy kept pressuring us to buy other things. When we kept saying all we wanted was the spring, he got very annoyed with us. He also said that if the spring was replaced, it would only last a week or two. What on earth? Why would a brand new spring only last a week or two? NOW FOR THE UNBELIEVABLE PART.....The guy told us us he didn't need or want our business and also said "fuck you" to us and drove away! Unbelievable!!!! Don't ever work with this company! read more
