We had a few minor leaks that present during large storms. I called to see if we were in Powell's service area, and was told that we are. Gary came out to visit our property in mid October. He spent no more than 15 minutes at the house, most of which was spent standing next to his truck. He measured for gutters (a secondary request) and didn't bother to climb up on our roof to see for himself what was going on (we have significant flat roof components that can't be seen from the ground where the leaks are). After not hearing anything back via email or phone for weeks, I called and spoke with Powell's staff on FOUR separate occasions over the course of months after the visit to try to get the estimate that was promised us or any indication of next steps. Each time, the same person answered the phone and acted surprised, that Gary hadn't gotten back and that she would text/email/call him and make a note in his calendar for him to return our calls. Here we are in January, and we have come to terms that Gary has totally ghosted us. No email, no text, no callbacks, no returned voice messages. Just nothing. Who's Gary? He owns the company. One would think that an owner of a local business, particularly one with his name on it would be responsible enough to return a potential customers' (multiple) follow-up calls. It's either a sign that this business is disorganized, disrespectful of clientele's time or both and if they can't do the basics, I am not sure they can be trusted to do a job on a roof. As new-to-the-area homeowners, we have contacted many, many other companies for various work around the property and even in the wake of storm Ida, even though we had to wait a few weeks for an initial appointment due to backlog, every single other company got back to us without issue. And for a direct comparison, I reached out to another local roofing company and the gentleman who showed up to assess our home spent about 2 hours at our home inspecting the roof and siding. He actually climbed up a ladder, took pictures of trouble spots on our roof to show us, provided a detailed summary of what he found and what work he recommends we perform over the next several years, carefully prioritized and reasonably priced. Based on our conversation it's clear that they both care immensely about their clientele - retained or not. The simple fact that they reached out personally to understand the situation demonstrates their commitment to customer satisfaction. While doing the necessary repairs to the home through insurance we also decided to take the opportunity to remodel our kitchen and dining room areas out of pocket. Magnolia was one of the contractors we brought in for a price quote. The contractor who came out was extremely condescending and belittling - assuming that my wife and I could not afford the cost of the project. On multiple occasions the contractor made unnecessary comments related to the anticipated costs of the remodel - alluding to our assumed inability to afford the scope of the work. Needless to say we took our business elsewhere and couldn't be happier with the outcome of the work done. There are plenty of contractors in the market that will deliver a high quality product without thumbing their nose at you or assuming that they're too good for any job. If you want a company that acts like they're elite but only deliver the same outcome as anyone else - look no further - this is a great choice for you. However, I'd suggest you avoid the holier than thou attitude and find someone who will not only get the job done, but also treat you right.

This time, we are greatly disappointed; they did nothing with the gutters, leaving nails popping out, but told me I had a problem with part of the roof, but no definitive scope of work. Then someone claimed to be a representative called to talk about "roof work", including replacing all of my skylights. Within a month, a carpenter was on the new roof repairing wooden shingles. He noted no flashing had been added to the roof line, which could result in serious damage to house structure. We asked Deegan to come back only after several requests and proof of pictures from the carpenter. They replaced the flashing. On worker stated to us "This should have been done right the first time." In addition, roofers left debris throughout flower gardens and destroyed one front bush in a row of bushes through debris tossing. Deegan acknowledged, paid some money, but bush in this line can not be replaced and negatively affects front facade at time of house sale.
