I got two bids to install sheet Marmoleum in the color Red Copper in my kitchen, from Precision Flooring and another company, both of which I found on the manufacturer's list of authorized dealers of Marmoleum. Precision's bid was about 30% higher, but I liked Tim, the salesman, and felt confident they'd do a good job. I had a radius transition to the adjacent hardwood, which required an extra level of care to execute. So quality was very important to me. I paid a deposit, and was told I'd get a call back in a day or two. I had to call and leave messages three more times over the course of a week to get the job on the schedule. When Sheila finally called back to schedule the job, she had a lot of excuses: the supplier wasn't responding, her office was being painted, she was out of town, etc. Ok. Then my main point-of-contact, Jennifer, finally emailed me back and said that her voicemail account had been accidentally deleted. OK again. At this point, I almost cancelled, based on the poor communication. But I regretfully had Sheila go ahead and schedule the job, and she asked for 60% payment. I know that the State License Board warns consumers not to pay more than $1000 or 10% of the contract price, before materials are delivered or services are rendered. So I told them I'd pay once the materials were at my house. She agreed to that. Ricardo came out to do the installation. He asked me if I wanted the seams welded or butted. I said welded. He asked whether anyone warned me about the seams. I said no. He asked again, 'Tim didn't tell you about the seams?" I said, no. He said, "They are VERY visible." So I got online to look at photos. The photos I saw looked OK, so I said go ahead with the welding. As he started doing practice welds, I could see that they weren't looking very good--inconsistent in width, very obvious difference between the seams and the surrounding material in color, texture, and sheen, and some areas had rough edges. I should've had him stop right there, but after waiting so long, I wanted the floor done so my family could use it. I went to Forbo (the manufacturer's) website, and quickly found that there is an optional "multi-colored" welding rod for all of the Marmoleum colors. But it was too late, as he had already started welding the seams in my floor. I would've liked to have been informed of the option of using multi-colored welding rod, and shown an example of the welded seam, before we started. As Ricardo finished up, I expressed my displeasure in the appearance of the seams. He said he thought there was a buffing or coating that could be put on this floor that might help. I called the office right away and asked for Tim. I was told he was not in the office. It was afternoon, probably 4 PM. Ricardo was finishing up. A few minutes later, I heard Ricardo talking to someone on the phone. It was Tim. Then the secretary called back to tell me Tim was not available. I said, that's weird, I just heard Ricardo on the phone with him. Then Ricardo told me that Tim told him he'd contact the Forbo rep and would get back to me. I thought it was strange that Tim called the installer back but not me. Then a guy called back who said he was the owner. I explained the situation, that I was disappointed in the seams, and was upset to learn that there is a multi-colored welding rod that might have looked better. I was calling to find out whether a buffing or coating might be applied that would improve how they look. I won't re-hash our whole conversation, but he barked at me that I should've spec'd that welding rod, and he started reading to me from the Forbo website about the care and maintenance of the floor. He was so defensive and rude, no apologies, no offers to help the situation. I can see that the culture of excuse-making at his company comes from the top and rolls downhill. I started getting calls from them trying to collect payment. I said that I wasn't happy, and nothing had been done to address it. They transferred me to Tim, who said he'd call the Forbo rep and find out. After several weeks and one last-minute reschedule, Tim and Ricardo finally came to my house. Tim said that he'd send a guy out to buff the floor, and then they'd credit me "some money" for my time, for me to apply the semi-gloss finish that Forbo makes for Marmoleum. I thought this was pretty fair. Then I got an email saying that that offer was no longer on the table, and all they'd be willing to do is buy me the cleaner and the finish, which totals probably $30. I was never given instructions on how to care for the floor, and have lost hours in trying to schedule appointments and research buffing and coatings myself. Guys, all you had to do was send someone out to buff. It would've cost you a couple hundred bucks. As a small gesture of goodwill, for being so difficult to deal with and dropping the ball on so many levels. Never again, Precision. read more

If you want a company that doesn't communicate with each other or their customers, and who has ZERO integrity in their work, call Precision Flooring. Horrible service. Am very disappointed in the customer service with Precision Flooring. They came out to give me a bid to repair my flooring that was damaged from a washer/dryer delivery. The repair will be paid for by the delivery company and so I needed a correct estimate for the job before I can hire a floor company to fix it. Precision's first estimate did not include the actual flooring material--thank goodness I looked at it before sending it off the claims company. When I asked for a corrected estimate it took over 10 days and then they got upset with me for being inpatient. They may have great prices and good quality materials as based on the other Yelp reviews, but dealing with them became a nightmare for me. read more

We worked with these guys over a six month period and they were not forthcoming about the true costs of the job. In the beginning they didn't want to deal with us, the homeowner, preferring to work directly with the contractor. Okay, I thought, that was fine. Although their bid stated "Any alterations or deviations from the above specifications involving extra costs will be executed only upon written orders, and will become an extra charge over and above the estimate." our contractor was never informed of any changes or expected up charges and were only told at the end of the job that it would cost $4000 more than the original estimate. When we did not agree to pay it because of a lack of change order, they became quite belligerent and went after our contractor. When that didn't work, they came after us (despite their having said they didn't want to talk to us). In (what we thought was) the end, we paid an extra $1000 to get them to go away. But then they were not satisfied after all. They continued to harass our contractor and then took the whole thing to the Contractor Licensing Board. They proposed a settlement agreement for an additional $2236 (which with the extra $1000 is nearly all they had asked for) and now it looks like we'll have to pay that or go to court with them which could cost even more if we lost. I'm really disappointed because they did a pretty decent job with the flooring. The carpet was okay - we have places where the stitching is coming out but I can hardly go back to them now with this issue between us. I would not work with them again. They harassed us a lot in the end (calling our home at different hours complaining about our contractor and of course us) which was uncalled for. If they had just been upfront with the additional costs, this would not have been a problem. I didn't like the fact that these extra charges were never disclosed and that we were hit with this exorbitant bill in the end. read more

Their receptionist just lost them a potential job. Our kitchen sink leaked under the counter, causing the Marmoleum floor to lift up. Their ad says they do water damage repair, so we called them. Asked the receptionist if they did repair work, and after a silence she said "our minimum charge is $ 600". Did not ask for details, did not want to talk to us.... had no clue the extent of the damage or what it might cost. She clearly was not interested in helping us ! read more

We recently had Precision install some engineered wood flooring. The initial installation took about 3 days, but the follow-up on areas of poor workmanship took 2 separate days over the course of the following month - scheduling time off from work and getting the right personnel contributed to the delays. The main issue was that the work was subcontracted and we were unaware until the subcontractor showed up for the installation. The subcontractor was also very friendly and nice, but rushed the job, resulting in a few areas poor quality installation that needed rework. The first portion of rework was the same subcontractor; there was an added cost of one extra day off work, wasted materials, and the problem was still not solved. We insisted on getting a better crew and got "Chino" who was highly competent and finally solved our concerns...after another extra day off work and purchase of extra materials. Excellent in terms of friendliness and customer courtesy. Everyone was easy to deal with, and the business ultimately wanted a satisfied customer. Two people you want to make sure to work with: Aeneas the finish guy - he was very customer-centric and helped address a lot of my questions and ease my concerns, and Chino the installer. read more

I am a working mother with a small child and was a bit overwhelmed as my refrigerator leaked and destroyed my kitchen floor. I was dreading the contactor search needed to repair my home. I received three estimates prior to calling precision flooring. Two of the companies were condescending and one bid was grossly over priced. My husband encouraged me to try one more company. I spoke with the receptionist, Faith. She was extremely kind and friendly. She answered all of my questions and seemed to be very knowledgeable about the materials and services they provide. I had several questions and she was very patient with me. I told her I wasn't quite ready to redo my floors but she assured me that I can call back at anytime or come into the showroom to set up an estimate with a flooring consultant. I'm always happy to support a local, family owned business over a big box, but when their customer service and pricing is so good I'm thrilled and have to spread the word. I came into their shop today with a very small (and inexpensive) need for vinyl flooring to patch the kitchen in my office. As soon as I walked in the door, someone put down what they were doing to greet me and walk me back to the showroom. Then the owner came in and helped me out - and he upon himself to make sure that I got exactly what I needed and was genuinely friendly and extremely helpful. There was staff around that he could have relegated me to once he found out that it was a tiny job, but he took great care of me regardless and helped me find exactly what I needed, and took his time to answer questions and give advice. AND the price was way below what I was expecting to pay based on research. How bout that?! Happy to recommend them because lots of times, how they deal with the small stuff and niceties of customer service really speak volumes about their business philosophy and prioritization of customer needs. Don Sr & Don Jr, I am sorry I am SO late in posting this review. Long overdue and well deserved! We have three dogs, get where I am going? So long story short they ruined our upstairs carpet. It was horrible, so bad we stopped inviting friends over because it just looked plain bad. We went to every flooring company in Santa Clara County, seriously every one. Even called that company who's commercials are always on the damn TV. Let me save you some trouble, those guys from that place are straight scumbags! I nearly had to throw them out of my house! Went to Precision and actually left without buying. This was not because of service or options, we just needed to clear our minds and finally make a decision. We went back and saw Donnie again the next day. The guy actually put eating lunch on hold to help us with all of our craziness! Found carpet we really liked and made the deal. Donnie was very knowledgable and professional. Came out to our home to measure and confirm square footage. They made the whole process so simple it was amazing. Glen and Don walked us through all of the options and never pushed a particular product, they took their time letting us select the style we wanted. From start to finish I was VERY happy with the service! I met with Donnie at their location when just getting started and he was very helpful in helping me decide what type of hardwood I should get. From there working with Sheila to get the logistics correct was a pleasant experience. I had to push the start date back a couple of times because closing of escrow took longer than expected. The communication was very quick and extremely helpful. The showroom is nice and has many options to choose from. Donnie was able to listen to what we were looking for, give us different options, and work with our budget. His expertise was greatly appreciated. As soon as the work started, they found that we had some severe damage to our sub floors that we needed to get replaced. PRECISION FLOORING IS TOTALLY AWESOME! 2 THUMB-UP!!! Precision Flooring is one of the best Flooring company to deal with in bay area. After reading many horrible reviews about some other company....they do some work and never return or so, I was little scared, but Precision Flooring changed and installed a new carpet of my house (2Bedroom+Hallway+ Walking closet+ Stairs) and moving master bedroom's furniture in only 6 hours. After his guys installed a new carpet, they didn't ask for money at all, and I never given him anything in advance. After 2 weeks Don sent me an email asking for his money only if I was 100 percent satisfied. You will never see this kind of business tactics these days. Before I decided to go with Precision Flooring, I had taken a quote from Empire Today. When a guy came from Empire Today, after measuring the area he started nearly begging me saying "Come on Man" "Come on Man" " I would give you $100 discount, if I had decided right at that moment" and so on. But when Don came to my home for free estimate, after measuring the area he gave me an estimate and left without saying or asking for business or never tried to sell when I have been to his store. Today it has been more than 4 months already, and I am still satisfied of their carpet work. We just had our birdseye maple floor refinished with excellent results. the floor was 23 years old and the finish was completely gone in 70% of the area and the wood was grey. They were able to completely remove the grey finish, filled the entire floor and refinished it to perfection. The floor came out better than new as we had originally installed it ourselves. They were prompt and a pleasure to work with. The price as was actually lower than their competitors as well and we feel that this was an excellent value. If we had known it would be this reasonaly priced, we would have done it years ago. We also had Precision install Fabrica carpet as well. This was a very difficult job as we had curved walls and a built in bed the carpet had to be installed around. This was a quality job as well. read more

I worked with the company on replacement carpeting of about 400 square feet. The selection and ordering process was handled rapidly and on time. The material arrived on time. The agreed-upon installation date was met. The installation crew was fast (about 2 1/2 hours arrival to departure) and cleaned up well. The final invoice price matched the estimate. read more

We had a very specific look and Precision was able to match a sample we had perfectly. It is a character grade European white oak, 8" wide, oil finish, with lots of knots.
