We had a great visit from the representative on the work they could do. Then it went downhill. We asked for 3 references, measurements of the floors they'd refinish (so we could see how much per sq ft), type of materials, and to clarify the timing contract, which they requested 50% downpayment. For the help of ALL consumers, here is the LAW on contracts: https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displaySection.xhtml?sectionNum=7159.5.&lawCode=BPC A contractor cannot ask for "50% down" before beginning work. CSLB dictates that as well. Here, educate ourselves: https://www.cslb.ca.gov/resources/guidesandpublications/wyskpamphlet.pdf Their manager wrote to us (taken word for word from email) : "As for the CSLB, I am aware of their rules. We can ask for anything we want, you can request to stay with their required 10% or $1000, whichever is less." and "If you call 20 retail stores, they will all say the same thing. I will sometimes negotiate, but most people don't see half down and half upon completion as a barrier. " They may have amazing teams on the ground doing the work, but the back-office and administrative team is breaking the law. Yes, we filed a formal complaint. WHY can't they just follow the RULES? This law is for ALL CONTRACTORS, not just "commercial" or "residential". And yes, flooring restoration is construction, that's why CSLB exists, and this company has a LICENSE. They must follow ALL the rules, not cherry-pick ones and gouge potential clients for what they feel like.

Replaced the carpet in our living room with hardwood. Paul is extremely knowledgeable and was very patient in answering all of our questions and concerns. Everyone at Slaughterbeck, from the receptionist to the installers, is extremely kind and professional. Mike and Mason did an amazing job installing the flooring and made sure we were informed during the process. Had an amazing experience working with them and will continue to work with them for any future projects!

Paul is honest and doesn't Over promise! He is very detailed about possible expectations. There were no surprises. Miguel and Javier did a miraculous job of saving my original 1926 birch flooring even after it was cleared of asbestos.

Slaughterbeck Floors does it again - this time with epoxy flooring. We had Slaughterbeck Floors do our hardwood floors in our home which after 8 years we are still admiring. Now it was time to take care of our shop floors and they did a great job. We almost don't want to move our equipment in and cover any part of it. Mike and his team are great!

Robert was able to measure, and estimate my floor two months prior to the actual work because my kitchen project was taking so long. He knew it was going to take a while and advised me to do it sooner than later to lock in prices due to inventory and inflation issues that could occur. I don't know of any other company in this field that has better service and communication than Abby Carpet. Robert is attentive and is very personable. He let me keep the floor samples for as long as I needed to make a decision on which flooring I wanted. The floor associates at the store were also very knowledgeable and helpful while shopping in store for floor options. The actual floor work was clean and timely. He did a great job making sure not to damage the existing base boards. He actually recaulked them so they look better than it was before. I thank him for that. I created a Yelp project, and out of all the quotes we received, Abbey Carpet by Blossom Valley Interiors was the cheapest. Although the repair was neither simple nor inexpensive, S&G handled the situation professionally, promptly, and without hesitation. They stood behind their work, corrected the problem at no cost to me, and remained focused on ensuring I was completely satisfied throughout the entire process. A special thank you to Mike Menacho for his exceptional customer service and for seeing the issue through to a successful resolution. It's refreshing to work with a company that truly stands behind its products and customers. I've recommended S&G Carpet to friends and family for years, and after this experience, I'll continue to do so with complete confidence.

A week ago, I went to S & G Carpet and More, San Jose, preparing for my home floor upgrade from the…read moreexisting carpet area (around 1500 sqft) to hardwood floors. This Friday (August 14th) morning, a S & G employee named Mike was sent to my home as scheduled for a quotation. It turned out to be a very unpleasant experience for my wife and myself. Mike's poor knowledge level was exposed after I raised a few questions to him. That's fine as long as he could give us a quotation after his inspection and measurements. However, his answers to the two questions I asked him later really mattered. I believe that most homeowners care about these two questions as well when it comes to home carpet replacement or upgrade to hardwood floors. As my last question to Mike, I asked him if he could share some experience or the common practice with us on how they handled the situation when termite activities were found from the wood sub-floor right after the existing carpet was removed. I told him that if this happens in my case I need to spray Bora Care immediately for the treatment. But it requires 48 hours at least for the wood subfloor to dry out. Without delay, Mike replied to me that you need to remove all the carpet by yourself and do the termite inspection and treatment to get ready for us to come for the hardwood floor installation. I was stunned by his reply. At this moment (36 hours later), I still don't think that is what S & G requires its customers to do in advance. If He had no such experience, he could have told me that he would check with his colleagues and get back to me asap. Instead he gave me such an irresponsible solution which is totally unacceptable. This also further justified my 2nd to the last question to Mike - how S & G makes sure that the 3rd party subcontractor they'll send over to our home does a good job without quality issues as we expected? I raised this question not because I don't trust S & G as Mike pushed it back. As a consumer or homeowner, we don't know which subcontractor will be sent by S & G to us to implement the project, thus there is no way for us to check their performance records through Yelp and/or Google reviews. If a subcontractor with Mike's performance level is assigned, our floor upgrade project could run into troubles. At that time who will take the responsibility, the subcontractor or S & G? Of course, S & G won't be my choice anymore. One last thing to complain about, at the tail end, Mike spoke with someone on the phone and then went upstairs again without letting us know while both of us were downstairs. Later we found out that he cut and lifted the existing carpet at a corner upstairs.

A measuring technician came out, took all the dimensions, and directed us to the 1020 W. San Carlos location to review their full carpet selection. At the store, we explained what we were looking for, compared carpet features and pricing, and worked with Dominic--who was very accommodating. His total project cost was competitive with the other quotes we received. We also wanted new baseboards that would match our freshly painted walls and trim. Dominic arranged to have the primed (but unpainted) 16' wood baseboards delivered ahead of installation, giving us time to paint everything before the carpet went in. Tip Our new carpet and pad are very soft and plush--great underfoot, especially on the stairs. Because the new flooring sits higher than the original laminate, our bedroom doors needed to be trimmed by about half an inch. We cut the doors ourselves, but it's worth asking whether your installer can include that as part of the project. Pros * Dominic is a true carpeting professional--he anticipated our needs and offered thoughtful guidance throughout the process. * Both the wood and carpet installation teams did solid, quality work. Cons * Some door trim was scuffed as the installers maneuvered large carpet rolls through our narrow hallway and doorways, so a bit of repainting was needed afterward.

Our experience started with Phillip to replace the existing flooring in our home due to a flood. The initial issue came once we signed the contract and paid the 50% deposit, unexpectedly the flooring we were told we were getting was out of stock and would take weeks to order so we went with a backup option. From there, issues we were told that would not be a problem, such as replacement in the master closet, which we came up with a solution for, to underbidding the work and saying there was more than he/they expected became a constant trend. After the floor was installed, our walls had a fair amount of damage from the demo of the prior floor which we ended up paying the majority of the cost for while FCI chipped in. We had a large bump in the middle of our kitchen that stemmed from incorrect prep work and also a board that had no nails in it which was replaced. We had railing that were bent and incorrectly installed that had to be fixed and eventually were. We had stairs that were cracking at the joints and that needed to be fixed and eventually were. We still to this day, per the photos below, missing stair covers and uneven installation in areas. Also, our stairs creek on three of them which we did not have an issue with before. After this most horrific and lengthy experience with FCI, I would strongly consider other options that might be out there for you and your family.

Khoa finished the LVP brand new flooring work (includes demolition of old sub-floor, Particle board) , rip off old vinyl sheets and replace with the brand new installation of plywood subfloor and floating LVP Flooring, Brentwood design color which gives almost the look of wood grained. Besides to the damage (which is well documented, via pictures on Houuz, Google + and yelp), my wife and I wanted to tell story of in lack of customer service, lack of professionalism and verbal accusations. Outside of the lack of customer service, my wife and I came to understanding when (and this was our case) the Carpet Center asks for a deposit/ down payment of +10% is technically illegal (and against California State License Board policy) The CSLB told me directly that is highly UN-professional, not to mention, you generally do not want to engage with companies who conduct such behavior. It typically means that the company (in this case) the Carpet Center does not have enough cash flow to fund current jobs (I wish I had known this) We ended up paying in full and would have regardless, but Aida and Nick Budetti sure know how to take it to their customers. In addition to that... and this is more of the issue, but when Aida and Nick came to inspect the damage the Carpet Center caused, Nick repeatedly (numerous times) decided to imply my wife is a liar (and right in front of her) I completely understand that this my story, but I will remind you that pictures do not lie, so you can see the damage and decide for yourself. I for one, would just like to educate and inform (from our story) so that others do not get hurt by the Carpet Center. If anything, I truly hope someone can be assisted by our story. DO NOT TRUST THE CARPET CENTER.
