The price I paid was clearly high. The following week I got two other estimates from firms in Burlington for $400 and for $500 compared to their charge of $694. I contacted them about an adjustment but they did not reply. Their serviceman Eddie was polite and explained the repair options. I agreed to the least costly option of replacing all 10 garage door rollers. He finished that in less than an hour. It now has been working fine. They responded to my call on a Saturday and came at the end of the following Monday as agreed. read more

Had a repair done recently by Precision Door of Hudson Massachusetts. The repair person arrived early which was very good, was polite and seemed to know his job very well. The work appeared to be completed successfully and in a timely fashion. The repair consisted of 2, 130 lb. springs, 2 safety cables and 4 cast iron pulleys and less than 2 hours labor. THE BILL WAS OVER $900.00!!!! Guess I won't be buying any expensive presents for Christmas this year. I took the cost of the parts at Home Depot and multiplied them by 3! (Auto Shops have always marked parts up and it has been an accepted thing). I was curious as to the hourly rate so I added the parts along with a $149.00 diagnostic fee and a fuel and disposal charge of $12.50 and took the total and subtracted from my $900.00 bill. That left the labor rate for 1 1/2 hour work and 1/2 hour travel time (9.8 miles round trip) for a grand total of $254.50 per hour!! Cheap huh, that's over a half a million a year! Recently had some work done by a lawyer and he didn't charge much more. Maybe they both went to the same school! I am a very mechanical person. Do plenty of jobs around the house, the yard and even my own automobile work. The only reason that I called Precision Door was the day I discovered the problem the wind chill was minus 11 degrees. For me to repair the door by myself was $72.00!!!! This was a mistake I won't make a second time! read more

I returned from a vacation to find a broken garage door spring and door that would not open. I filled out an online appointment request, on a Sunday afternoon, requesting service on Monday. I had a phone call about 20 minutes later from the company and was able to confirm the appointment for Monday afternoon. I was made aware that there would be a $125 service fee for the visit if I did not opt to proceed with a repair. The technician arrived on time, assessed the situation and provided the estimate. He had the parts on his vehicle and replaced the broken spring with 2 new springs, in about an hour. The overall service from this company was excellent and I won't hesitate to recommend to others and use the service again, if the need arises. read more

He was very helpful and explained the process if I wanted to get new doors. Gave me a quote right then and there. The company is promptly and timely. The Office was very responsive to my concern after the technicians visit. Perhaps this company is a good choice if you know you want a garage door replacement. However my experience for a repair was terrible. Within minutes he was explaining I needed new hardware and recommended a new door. I asked for him to fix the door and leave it operational and I would consider purchasing additional services when returning from work the door was inoperable. He was indifferent to my concerns with a follow up call. I had another company come and fixed the issue in 45 minutes for a fraction of the price of a new door. I used Precision Door Service to install a new garage door for a garage that is only occasionally used. The garage is used as a storage. The technician and the office were responsive and professional. This company is franchised. My impression is that some offices do not honor other office's job (at least in my case). Some offices are very good. I have owned a number of homes across US with garages. However, I keep having problems with the door for this one installed by Precision Door Service. One time spring was broken. A few times it got unbalanced and stuck. So far, none of the issues was covered under their warranty. They charge for coming out to check the issue every time. Their design seems unique: The vertical track cannot be separated for replacement. The bottom rubber seal fell off, but I have not been able to buy part to repair the bottom. I started to believe the only choice I have is to install a new one, which is costly. read more

I had Precision Garage Door out to my house and was very happy with the service I received from them. I explained to the office (who was very compassionate about my situation) how my car got stuck in the garage and how I needed someone there as soon as possible. With that, they were able to route a tech to my house that very same day (without any added charges for expediting). The assigned tech took the time to called me in advance to let me know he was on his way and how long it would be before he arrives (if anyone has had to wait for AAA to show up you know how relieving it is to know when someone will finally be there). When the tech did arrive (on time I might say) he immediately identified himself, and was both professional and personable. He quickly and efficiently diagnosed the issue and providing me three very affordable options to fix my garage door, taking the time to explain, in detail, each option and the benefit of each, without trying to up-sell me, I felt no pressure to pick any option over another. When I asked about his professional recommendation, he surprisingly went with a less expensive option that worked within my budget constraints. On top of all that, he had my garage door up and running quickly and it was so quiet!! (It has never been this quiet, since we bought the house 10 years ago.) I am thrilled with the service I received from Precision Door. On November 22nd, our automatic garage door that was original with the condo (built in 1996) died. We called Precision (and a few other places) and they were the only ones who could come out the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. The door itself came in three weeks later, and installation was scheduled for January 4th. If you're from New England, you know that we just had a enormous nor'easter that was projected to drop 12"-16" on us starting the morning of January 4th. We were told it was up to our technician if he feels comfortable or not coming to install in the morning with bad weather. Our tech, Rob, showed up at 6:45am so he could have enough time to get the door installed before the storm got bad. He finished installation around 9:00am when we already had a few inches on the ground. I am so very thankful for Rob doing this and truly going above and beyond. If he couldn't, Precision was going to push installation out another week (like other reviewers had experienced), but we were lucky enough to have a phenomenal technician assigned to our case. Thank you Rob!!! Gave 4 starts instead of 5 because it did take a month and a half to get the new door which seemed like a long time. There were certainly ways they could've expedited, but chose not too. (for example, they wait 2ish weeks for the door to come in, THEN they schedule the installation. They should schedule installation when they order the door, in my opinion). read more

Communication very poor, and this company is just plain negligent. This first time they came out to install our doors, the hardware was missing. Week later they show up and the hardware doesn't fit! Now we are pushed off for another week while we wait for the parts to come in. Very expensive. For the price they should provide way better service. Never going with their company again. read more

One of my garage doors closed unevenly in a jumping manner. The good news is that the technician Paul called before the scheduled appointment to confirm his ETA and arrived on time. It was downhill after that. Upon arrival, he opened and closed the door twice and told me that the rollers and pulleys on the door were beyond maintenance and should be replaced. He proceeded to give me 3 options to remedy the situation, various combinations of new rollers, pulleys and springs. To say the least, I was surprised at this diagnosis, particularly given the door's relatively young age and the rollers appeared to turn freely without any friction. When I challenged him on his recommendation, he was more concerned with selling me new rollers and pulleys than listening to my concerns. After reviewing the options presented, I decided I had no choice but to pay the $115 'service fee' and send Paul on his way. Later in the day, I found somebody who was able to isolate the problem to one pulley that required lubrication. The door worked fine, and I decided to replace the pulley anyway. The pulley was replaced for less than the service charge I paid to Precision. Just a terrible experience. read more

Our technician, Christopher, came on time, assessed the situation and what a repair would entail, and promptly fixed the issue to our 100% satisfaction. Be aware that they will not work directly with some manufactured company garages and it will take them at least a month if they need to order any parts. We called this company to come to do a very simple repaor to 1 of the hinges that connects the door segments . After he came to do that he told me that I needed new Springs and pulleys as they were old and should be repaired.. I allowed him to change the pulleys. Once you change them, the garage door would no longer go down and would stop halfway and go back up. She kept saying to me I need a minute to think about this. After about 25 minutes of trying to figure it out, and putting screws in where they didn't belong in the track, I looked up and realized that he installed the pulley backwards and it was blocking the door from going up. He proceeded to fix that and the door was still having trouble going down. He then asked me for WD40 which I did Supply him with, and tell me that the track was wobbling and that wasn't allowed in the door to go down. I told him that it never had an issue before. He finally got the door to go down, although it was somewhat wobbly. At that point I told him we're all set and done. Within the next day the door stop going down and kept popping back up. I asked to speak to the owner or manager, and when I got a call back from the manager he told me it was his holiday and why was I bothering him on his Holiday Inn how dare I. I was very courteous and I tried to explain to him that are doors had more issues after the repair than before. He proceeded to tell me his technician did everything he was supposed to and that it's our garage door and it's old. He wouldn't take anything off and at that point I did not want him back at the house. I did have someone else come out to do the repair and my garage door is working beautifully. The company that came to fix the doors had asked who had done the work and said they did a very poor job. I've never written a bad review, but I would never recommend this company to anyone. Had an appointment scheduled with Precision Door today to fix my garage door. I took the day off and my son and I cleaned the garage so the technician would have plenty of room. Appt scheduled for between 2-4 and I called at 4:05 since nobody showed up. The woman put me on hold for about five minutes and came back and said the notes on the account said I canceled my appointment...what?!?! When the lead tech Gary was asked to reschedule, he just declined and advised in unpleasant way to seek a different service provider. Everyone, including companies have a bad day or week. I had posted a review here in which I laid out in detail, some pretty serious errors made by Precision Door Service, and for which I gave them a very poor grade. However, I must credit this company for owning their mistakes and making a significant effort to fix the problem. I was contacted by the owner and manager several times, and despite some hiccups along the way, we got my door fixed at a fair price. I would give them 5 stars for their efforts at fixing the problems once we started talking. I think that it is fair to say, that you should give these guys a chance. They will fix your door and they do care about customer service. That's rare these days. read more
