DO NOT GO HERE!!! THESE PEOPLE ARE CRIMINALS!!! I have been here a number of times (I have bought two pistols, an AR-15 Rifle, and countless amounts of ammo here) and every time left with a feeling of dissatisfaction!!! The owners and staff of this establishment know that they are the only gun store in the area and therefore conduct business with a "could not care less about the customer" and "We can charge whatever we want" mentality. I am not the only person who feels this way. Most of my friends (many of which are serious gun enthusiasts, police officers, or military) avoid this place at all costs. The following are just a few of the instances that I have left Precision Armory feeling as if it were time to find myself a new procurer of fine armaments:
1. Last year, at the inception of the ammo shortage, I called Precision Armory to ask if they had Remington Bucket o' Bullets (1400 Rounds of .22) in stock. The person on the phone assured me that they did but would not give me the price over the phone as it was store policy. I decided to take the 20 minute ride up the store figuring that Dick's and Cabela's both had this product listed on their websites for $69.00 (but were out of stock due to the shortage) so I expected to pay a "local store mark-up" making the price of the item at most $100-$120. When I arrived, the Bucket o' Bullets was marked $249.00. I left immediately, wasting an hour of my time.
2. I bought a handgun from this store back in March for $499.00. I made a deposit on the pistol and had it added to my pistol permit. About 3 months later, when all of the paperwork was complete, I went back to the store to pick up my handgun. As I was filling out the paperwork to pick it up, I noticed in the glass case that they had the same gun on special for $399.00 ($100 Difference). Any other retail store would gladly honor their sale price from DIck's Sporting Goods, to Target, to Home Depot. I asked the person behind the counter (this little blonde punk named Ryan, who is as full of sh*t as he is obnoxious) if I could have the sale price. He said that he would have to ask the owner. The owner said "no" knowing that this had already been added to my permit and my hands were tied. I asked Ryan to tell the owner that I am good customer who has bought 3 expensive firearms from the store and have paid cash every time. He advised the owner to no avail. I left disgruntled. That day, I was really frustrated with the entire situation. I decided to call the store to express to the owner my dissatisfaction wit the situation as well as the service that I had received. I left 3 messages over the following week and the owner never returned my call.
3. A friend of mine bought 2 NYS compliant Smith and Wesson M&P Rifles at this store (an M&P 15 and an M&P 15-22). Ryan (the same guy that helped me - if you could call it that as not much help was received) assured him that the M&P Rifles were outfitted with the MR2 Kit (for which they charge you an extra $125.00) which made them perfectly legal in the state of New York as the magazine was fixed while in operation. This was to overcome the limitation outlined by the SAFE Act that bars individuals from possessing rifles with detachable magazines. However, my friend went to the shooting range a few months later with both of his rifles and an off-duty state police investigator inquired about the ingenious contraption that was outfitted on his rifles. My friend, detecting no animosity from the trooper, and having the guarantee of the gun dealer that the firearms were legal, obliged. The investigator concluded after a demonstration that the rifles were still illegal as the magazines were still detachable and seized, yes seized, both of his firearms. Luckily, since he had been cool with the trooper, the trooper called him a few months later and stated that he would drop my friends guns off at a gun dealer of his choice so that they could be modified, at his expense, to be NYS compliant. Moreover, he was lucky to avoid a firearms violation in addition to losing his rifles for a few months and incurring the added costs of making them NYS Compliant.
I will never go to Precision Armory again. I recommend that you stay away from this place as well in order avoid deception, high prices, poor service, an owner that does not care about his regular customers, and being sold illegal products. read more
