Mike and his partner did an excellent job repairing the bent tongue on my utility trailer. After…read morespeaking with a few other welders who didn't inspire much confidence (to put it nicely), it was clear within minutes that these guys knew exactly what they were doing. They had a solid plan, worked efficiently, and completed the repair in about 90 minutes. The quality of the work was great. Pricing was very fair--maybe not the cheapest, but easily the most qualified. Given how critical the tongue is to safe towing, choosing the right people mattered. I'd absolutely use them again without hesitation. Qualified, knowledgeable, flexible, honest and budget conscious. Plus they inspire confidence.

I was sending work to Gary since he was able to sneak in cylinder heads and some block work, do to…read morehis Machinist retiring and only working 1 day a week. However in the last several months the quality or work had dropped off or he has started severely overcharging. I had him clean a couple oil pans and a few parts and even though I told him to only run them through the sprayer booth he without consent media blasted and other thing to the tune of 500$. Once I returned to the shop I found a bit of runt on a Rod journal and called him to give him a heads up. next visit I took him a cylinder head and what I received in return was half of a camshaft out of a running OEM engine (with out any rust) came back badly rusted. When ever I spoke with him all I heard about the job was "AH!". Gary seems to have no idea what is going on. It's very sad to see this shop going out of business. When you attempt to drop off items the entire driveway has been sold to the tire shop. When asked about the significant rust they left on my clients camshafts, Gary simply said you'll need to remove the rust. He stated the he "Never looked at the job." It unfortunate that his brain can't wrap itself around the fact that it's time to sell before there is nothing left. they are doing greater damage then any benefit possible. I'm sorry to see you go Gary!!! These cams may have been coated with oil but there was NO!! "rust" prior to visiting Pacific Auto Machine!!!

First the good stuff - everyone I've ever spoken to at Specialty Metals has been super nice,…read morefriendly, and helpful. Even when I didn't know the precise terms for things, they figured out what I was asking for and found it. The aluminum extrusion products I purchased were spot on and very high quality. Their facility in Kent is clean, organized, easy to find and get out of in a truck. But it seems like every time I'd call asking about my order, we had to play the "I'll have to call you back - I'm not finding you in the system" game. It got frustrating - especially on pickup day, when they simply could not find my pre-paid order and had to call me back a half hour later. Also, if you get a quote, ask that it be in WRITING. When I first called I was given one price which seemed about right. After calling a few other places to compare, I called SM back and they said there was no record of any previous quote to be found! "Do you know who you talked to?" Why would I have known that? And without a quote in the system, what are they going to know anyway? And on this second call, the material was now $75 (30%) more than the first quote. Sure - the metals markets go up and down - I get that. But not an increase of 30% in a day! Maybe the first person read the wrong column or the second person - but I had no choice - I needed the material so just paid it. There was no point in arguing - I had no written quote. Lastly, they said it would take 2-3 days and they'd call me... after 8 days went by I called, and once they were finally able to "find me in the system" they confirmed "Oh yeah, that came in last week". But they never did call. Overall, I do still recommend them and I would use them again. They're the best such company in the area that I've found. I've just learned to ask for everything in WRITING, and to allow extra time until they can "find me in the system" once again. Would have been 5 stars otherwise if not for these annoying issues
