Today I witnessed to horrible customer service from Cindi. Here's what happened! A super cute toddler was being a toddler and accidentally bumped into something causing a piece of merchandise to break. The mother offered pay and Cindi made her pay an outrageous amount for an item. I would think that since this Mom was doing the right thing Cindi would have at least given her the price she bought it for. Instead, she treated this Mom horribly. I will never shop here again! I hope Cindi can learn from this review that accidents happen and she could be a bit kinder. The world needs more understanding and love. read more

They have cute items in this store but HORRIBLE customer service. I bought a birthday gift for my sister at PP. Unfortunately I found out my sister already had the exact same item. I went to PP in the time specified on the receipt, brought the unopened gift and receipt and the owner gave me 50 Shades of Hell. She asked me a million questions, was VERY rude and only let me exchange my gift from products on a particular shelf. Unbelievable. I did not want any of the limited items she showed me. However, picked something just so I could get something for the money I spent. I'd be damned if she was going to get my money and the returned product. It was the most unreal, horrible return program I have ever encountered. I've never been and will never be back. Love telling everyone how HORRIBLE the owner treats customers. Shop somewhere else, even if you have to pay more. It's not worth patronizing this wicked owner. Really. read more

To every yin, there is a yang. To every hippie store, there is a sorority emporium. Prairie Patches is firmly in the latter category, in fact the web site address says it all: www.sororityheaven.com. I guess if I can cut the Bourgeois Pig's clientele some slack, I can do the same for the perky little pledges who pore through Prairie Patches looking for just the right Pledge Week accessories. If you can't find it here, chances are it just doesn't exist. Everything under the sun that you can customize to your school, your house or both is in the store or on its website. Personally I think sorority membership is just an excuse for popped collars, herd mentality and uncontrolled squealing in public. But someone has to keep that Greek alphabet alive. So thanks, Prairie Patches, for supplying KU's sororities with all the house-specific doodads they can charge to their parents' credit cards. read more

I agree that they have very cute items in the store, but the store owner has HORRIBLE customer service and is very RUDE. I bought a robe for my mother there for a birthday present and she wanted to exchange it for a different pattern. She called the store on the 10th day after purchase and the lady told her that she could exchange without a problem with the receipt even though that day would be the last day she could exchange. When my mom drove to the store with product and receipt in hand, the store owner came out and would not do anything for her. She wasn't returning the product, she just wanted to exchange it. Instead of honoring the word of the employee, she began yelling at my mother and telling her that she didn't care if she never shopped at her store again and didn't want her as a customer. My mom was in tears and the owner didn't care. As my mom was leaving, the employee that she spoke with on the phone ran over and apologized and said the owner was having a bad day. Well, excuse me, but I work in customer service everyday and you NEVER tell the customer they are wrong and just because YOU are having a bad day is NEVER a reason to treat someone like that. I will NEVER shop at this store again and refuse to enter it when shopping in Lawrence. I like to support local stores, but this one no longer gets my support. The owner needs to get an attitude adjustment and realize if she continues to treat customers like that, then she will not have ANY left. read more

Prairie Patches is great and a staple to downtown Lawrence! They have everything you need plus a bunch of fun stuff that you probably don't need but can't resist buying anyway! A great spot to get KU paraphernalia or stuff for pledge week. Love that you can get everything customized - it's a great spot to visit if you're in a bind for a birthday present for someone. read more

Pretty sure I was racially profiled. Been a while. Have lost my recognition of it--but the lady followed me around--while not following others. Not to talk or show me things or ask me if I needed any assistance. No I am not trying to steal one of your little Yedi cups or your sorority gear when I leave to get in my BMW. Wow. Prairie Patches has very poor customer service. I called on the phone asking if the store had a particular product and the woman I talked to told me she did not but she had a replacement product. I told her I was not interested in her replacement. I called a different store that did feature the product and sent my daughter to go get it. Unfortunately, my daughter got confused and went to Prairie Patches. When she got there, she asked the sales woman if she remembered talking to me, and the saleswoman told her she did and proceeded to sell my daughter the replacement product. When my daughter got home I immediately called back to see if I could take the product back. The woman refused citing store policy. I was thus stuck with a product I didn't want. Even if she had worked with me and offered me an alternative product or store credit, I would have appreciated that. read more

Where do I start? Can I give the rating a ZERO? We purchased something back in May and immediately went to return it. Store policy is that they don't give refunds, just a store credit. We took our store credit slip of paper and did not return until just before Christmas. When we made our way back to shop the owner was at the counter ready to help us. My mom grumbled about the store policy and the owner said it's on the ticket and it's up to the customer to know the policy before they buy. Well if it's seen on the ticket and that's the first you hear about it, you're too late! Anyway, the owner used the word "screwed" and started getting very hateful with my mom as she was "looking" for her copy in her little file box filled with people who obviously have run into the same situation. Funny thing is that the owner had found it and sat it on the counter, hiding it under her hand as she grew angrier and angrier at my mom for who knows why. I had to leave with my young daughter because I was afraid of what the crazy lady was going to say next. My mom found me about 5 minutes later and told me she pointed out to the lady that the original was under her hand and that made the owner even more furious. She threw the goodies we were buying at my mom and said "I hope you don't have a merry Christmas". She also forbade my mom to ever go in there again. Ha ha. Not to worry! Not only is the store credit only/slip of paper system so outdated which would keep me from shopping there, the owner was atrocious. I find it hard to believe that they are in business and although I promote small business when I can, this is one I would skip. Her Vera Bradley is outdated and there are patterns in the store that I can buy online at a clearance price. She had one pattern that I purchased new two years ago and is still asking full price. The crafty section of her store is lame and with so many talented artists in Lawrence, I would suggest to anyone to look elsewhere. read more

I bought a bag at the store that within one hour I realized did not work for me. It was not disclosed during the point of purchase nor at any visible point in the store that they did not have a full refund policy --- it was only when I went back to the store that I saw a small sign that said "store credit only". I asked to speak to the owner who was not interested in discussing my concern. There isn't enough in that store that would make me want a store credit. Lesson learned. I will not return to Prairie Patches as their customer service is poor and their selection of merchandise is limited. read more
