Visited on a weekend. $15 entrance Pros: fishing and camping available Picnic spots in shady areas with enough people apart from each other Trail Cons: Abundance of foxtails on the trail Not so peaceful. Heard shooting range very clearly all day Just compared to other regional parks and size day rate is high

Prado Park is located off the 71 FWY off Euclid. I believe their new prices as of May 2025 are now $10/vehicle on weekdays and $15/vehicle on weekends & special events. $3/pedestrian, $1/dog must be on a 6' leash at all times. They list all fees on their website FYI. The park is huge! It offers picnic facilities, biking, kid's playground, hiking, fishing, camping, trails, and more. It has a meeting room that seats up to 80 people and can be used for parties, or simply gatherings. I also noticed additional offerings such as an equestrian center, disc golf course, archery and shooting ranges. Don't expect to see pretty, colorful flowers but the park is nice and clean. Some areas will have gopher holes, watch your step. Staff do their best to keep the park enjoyable, which it is. Overall, it's always a great, relaxing time at Prado Park.

A big spacious park, $15 entry. A nice walk with nice view, people were fishing, camping, or enjoying a picnic in the park

I take the kids here probably 3-4 days a week during the summer. It's a great place for the kids to run around, fish, catch mosquito fish and just get dirty. We love to go and relax and take pictures and fish. The people that work here are nice and have always been welcoming. My only cons are people don't clean up after themselves and leave their trash and bait trash and fishing line everywhere. My kids find tons of hooks, lures, trash and tons of random things just laying on the ground. If you're going to just fish in hopes you'll catch a ton of fish good luck. We go for 8 hours and will either catch nothing or maybe a small catfish. When we used to go a few years ago we would catch a lot of fish a day. Not sure if they are stocking less but we don't catch much anymore. Just come to relax and fish. Here are a few pictures I took last week while we were there.

Very hard lake to fish, the water is always murky and shallow. If don't like to move around and learn the lake don't visit.

Ask the Community - Prado Regional Park

    What days do they stock?

Dates are available online but they stock on Thursdays every week during the fishing seasons

    Are there crawfish at Prado?

    Yes but not many

What's the latest you can enter the grounds if camping?

Gates close 30 minutes before the park closes. Times change throughout the seasons. You can check for their hours online but usually closing is 5pm except for summer when it's 8pm. If you don't get to the park before closing you can look up the gate…

    Is there good wifi?

    For me yes

What is the best RV full hookup site with shade ? Thanks.

Site 50 has a ton of shade and lake view

    Any off-roading here?

No. They encourage you to stay off the grass for vehicles, golf carts, and bikes. Only the back trails allow mountain biking.

Do they accept card to enter or is it cash only?

Yes card and Apple Pay are accepted. The only time they are cash only is if there are technical issues with their card reader terminals

Do they charge to use they're fire pits or is it free?

No. Only entry, fishing, and camping fees

Can you bring your own grill here?

Yes, as long as you keep the grill on non-grassy areas

Can you hike with your dogs there?

Yes but you must keep all dogs on leash.

What time does the splash pad open on weekends?

Splash pad is open when the park opens at 7:30. It closes when the park itself closes. The only time it is closed sitting open hours is if there is maintenance.

I have a few questions for folks that frequent this park? 1. Are there watercraft rentals of any…

    1. Yes, they have pedal boats to rent but the dock is being renovated and the boats won't be available until renovations are complete. You can check online for updates 2. Yes…

Does Prado have a firework show for 4th of july?

No. No fireworks allowed anywhere near the park

Is the lake good for swimming?

No they do not allow swimming at Prado Lake. They do have boat rentals. There is a nice water activity section at the playground.

Do they allow alcohol in the park?

My 7 year old has been begging to go fishing, and this seemed like an easy first experience for him…read moreand his older brother. Pros: - Catching fish is a sure thing here. The fish are plentiful and hungry. - They had plenty of chairs, buckets, nets, etc. - The rented rods were pre-hooked and weighted (though some were missing hooks, so check before you grab one). Cons: - We arrived about 10 minutes after they were supposed to open but the gates were still closed and there was already a short line of people waiting. Thankfully we only had to wait another 5 minutes before they opened. - The fish are SO easy to catch that we had 4 in about 10-15 minutes (though one broke the line and got away). At $12 per pound, the cost was over $125 including our entrance, 2 rod rentals, bait, and the 3 fish we took home. That was about what we expected in terms of price - but it was a long 1 hour drive for 10-15 minutes of action. - The biggest disappointment was that the website said we could have our fish cleaned and fileted there - but once we arrived they said it wasn't available this weekend (a sign indicated it also wasn't available last weekend). I had tried calling the day prior to verify everything, but all they have is a recorded message. We have neither the tools nor knowledge to clean the fish ourselves - so now we are figuring that out. That had been one of the biggest reasons we chose this "easy" experience. All in all, I'm still glad that we went and that my son caught his first fish - but just be aware what you might be in for and plan accordingly.

Checked in by paying the entrance and rentals fees and was given quick directions on how to start fishing. My son ended up caching 2 fish relatively quickly. There was a gentleman sitting next to the pond who helps release the hooks from the fish if you do not wish to do so yourself. He had to rehook our rod a few times and did so with friendliness. Whenever I had a question, they were always helpful. Even had the guys filet our fish for us for an extra charge. My son had fun and also enjoyed watching the RC car tracks that are immediately next door when we got done. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a nice experience with your kids. Entrance fee was $7/person Rod rentals was $10 Fish per pound was $12 (no catch and release) And to have them filet them was $2/fish I would definitely come back for another visit!!!

However, since he still can't travel too far, we decided to visit somewhere close by. So, we booked a hotel in Dana Point and had a wonderful two-night trip. On Saturday, July 4th, we all booked tickets for a whale/dolphin-watching cruise. When I booked the tickets, I asked how long the tour would be, and they said it would be two hours. The ticket prices were $78 for adults and $68 for seniors. At first, my brother accidentally bought all five tickets at the adult rate when three of them should have been seniors. I noticed this on the receipt, so I managed to get a refund for the price difference for the three senior tickets. We bought five tickets for the 12:00 PM cruise and were told to wait at Dock 6 starting from 11:45 AM, but the boat arrived a bit late. Once we got on board, the wind was blowing incredibly hard, and the waves were quite high, causing the boat to rock violently. After boarding, a friendly female crew member gave us a briefing at the front. She kindly advised everyone on board not to run, and said that if anyone felt seasick, it would be better to stay towards the back of the boat rather than the front. She also mentioned that if the motion sickness got too bad, they could provide peppermint or ginger candies, and added that there was a bar and snack counter inside the boat. Come to think of it, I once went sailing on a yacht with my friends a long time ago. For the first 30 minutes, I was clapping, taking photos, and having a great time, but then I got so severely seasick that I had a truly miserable time (the same thing happened to me on a cruise trip before). Still, when I rode a boat at Lake Arrowhead last year, I didn't experience any seasickness at all, so I thought I would be fine this time too--though looking back, that was probably because the lake was so calm. But during this cruise on July 4th, I ended up getting so incredibly seasick that I felt like I was dying. About 10 minutes before we docked, the seasickness got so severe that I even started dry-heaving, and it was just awful. I was dizzy, and my stomach kept churning. Even so, it was really wonderful to see so many dolphins during the cruise, and the crew members were all so kind. When I was struggling with severe seasickness, my brother went to inform the crew. A crew member came over and asked if I wanted a peppermint, ginger, or ginger ale candy. I asked for a peppermint candy, and they handed it to me, saying it was free. When I asked, "Does it work?" she assured me it would. I sucked on the candy while sitting at the back of the boat and fell asleep, but later on, the seasickness became so overwhelmingly intense that I ended up throwing up everything and had a horrible time. Anyone who gets easily seasick should definitely take this into consideration before going on a cruise. Still, seeing so many dolphins was a huge highlight.
