Post Alarm is very good at a few things: billing, raising their rates, and selling customers…read moreadditional products and services. Unfortunately, in my experience, they are considerably less effective at the thing that actually matters--properly handling an alarm activation. I have been a Post Alarm customer for many years, and I have repeatedly provided clear instructions about what should happen when an alarm is triggered. Yet when an actual activation occurs, those instructions do not seem to be followed in any consistent or logical way. They are also remarkably persistent about calling repeatedly in the middle of the night--even when they have specifically been instructed not to do so--sometimes apparently for no reason other than to "clear" something from their system. Getting call after call after call in the middle of the night without an actual emergency is not security; it is enormously disruptive. What has been most frustrating is the lack of accountability when these problems occur. There seems to be plenty of infrastructure devoted to billing, rate increases, and selling new services, but far less attention paid to making sure the monitoring service itself operates according to the customer's instructions. After many years as a customer, I find this extremely disappointing. A security company should inspire confidence when an alarm goes off. Instead, my experiences with actual alarm activations have too often been confusing, frustrating, and inconsistent with the instructions I have clearly provided.

There were two small dogs running up and down a local street that could've been hit by a car and possibly caused an accident, so I pulled over at a stop sign and put on my hazards to help the save the dogs with the help of another local man. After we had finally Rescued the dogs from the street and returned them to the owner, a metro patrol officer finally shows up and starts going off on us for an our poor parking jobs that held up traffic (despite the dogs themselves holding it up on their own). In the process he is blocking the traffic with his car more than we were to begin with as he is pulled out into the opposite lane half way into the intersection. Instead of helping us out this officer waited and began lecturing this guy and myself who were just trying to help out and stop a possible accident. I understand we could've done a better job parking but in the moment we just wanted to help these animals which could've been hit by a car or caused a greater accident with traffic trying to avoid them. Especially because this officer could've help us as well instead of just waiting to assert power over us.
