We stopped by after the Winter Park Scenic Boat Tour hoping to cool off with smoothies. The café was clean, had a nice atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, the smoothies didn't meet our expectations. My drink wasn't blended well and had the texture of shaved ice instead of being smooth and creamy. The fruit itself was blended, but the consistency wasn't quite right. My sister's smoothie mostly tasted like banana, and the other flavors were hard to notice. Out of the four of us, only two really enjoyed their drinks. I was also surprised to find out they don't serve coffee. I was looking forward to an iced coffee, but they only offer smoothies and other cold drinks. Overall, the customer service was great, but I think the smoothies could be blended better and have a more balanced flavor. read more

I feel really bad about giving this place a three star because the customer service is so phenomenal. And whoever's been reading my reviews over the years knows I am a stickler about Customer Service, and the menu here is very healthy, which is a good thing. However, for my personal taste, the food is very bland. And I mean VERY bland. But I understand there's a market for that, and many people in Central Florida seem to not like that much seasoning. So if this sounds like you, and you love healthy items on a very healthy menu, this is the place for you. So just ignore my stars. I absolutely adore Power House Cafe. The gentleman that I assume owns the restaurant is so nice and strives to ensure your order is correct, fresh, and oh so delicious! While he seemingly is doing a hundred things simultaneously he somehow heard your entire order at the same time and I'm honestly so impressed with his ability to do it all! I have been visiting for lunch over the years and every now and then I just simply forget about this gem just off of Park Ave. One of my favorite dishes here is the falafel pita with tabbouleh added.. I can't recommend it enough. The tabbouleh is such a flavorful addition and the falafel is perfectly cooked and not overly dry. I also really enjoy the chicken shawarma wrap and the every so delicious fruit salad! I've been meaning for sometime to try their breakfast which I'm sure won't disappoint based on other menu items, but for now this review is for lunch. You can absolutely call ahead and place your order for pickup since lunchtime is really busy here. It moves and I've never waited an insane amount of time, but I do acknowledge that it gets pretty busy for lunch - and I mean why not? It's healthy, filling, delicious.... I do warn that it does seem a bit pricy, but given other options on park ave this is actually fairly reasonable. I had an incredible experience at Power House Cafe last time I visited the Park Ave in Winter Park. I swung by for a quick bite, and was met with a new favorite spot in Orlando! The menu was extensive, filled with someone for every taste. I spoke with the owner as he prepared my food, and he was incredibly friendly and passionate about his business. Not only that, but the food was delicious and quick! I had the power house pita, and really enjoyed it. I was expecting the chicken shawarma to have more of the traditional shawarma seasoning, it tasted more like regular grilled chicken to me, but it was still good. We were on our way to the Lotus Café in Winter Park in fact we could smell the curry before we could see the door. When we arrived the door was locked. I hope not for good. So we walk back up Park Avenue to the Powerhouse. It was hopping when we arrived at noon, we got the last table. In a few minutes there were 10 people standing around the door. The restaurant decorated in 70's green and yellow was bright, with the full front side facing the street being windows. One wall was full of pictures of their customers. The menu consists of salads, wraps, and pita sandwiches. I chose a falafel pita. It was a good choice. The wait was a little long but it was a busy lunch time crowd. When the pita arrived it smelled and tasted good. The tahini sauce was very good; it did not have the overpowering taste of lemon that I have had other places. don't go here if you have life threatening allergies I almost died because he jokes around about allergies : I would go to this establishment pretty often when I would be with my friends and my boyfriend and the owner George would always serve us. However, I have a severe peanut allergy that can kill me because I go into anaphylactic shock. So, with that being said every time I come to this store to get a smoothie I make sure to always tell him I have a peanut allergy. He would joke every time and say "Ok I'll make sure to put extra peanut butter." Then he would serve me the smoothie and say the smoothie name and say "banana creme smoothie with extra peanut butter" and laugh while he said it when he would be joking.  So, this one time I came in almost two weeks ago I ordered a banana creme smoothie just a regular one, and after I order he says "extra peanut butter right" and laughs as he usually does and I laugh with him. Because I've been there enough for him to remember I have a peanut allergy so him saying that was normal for me. Until he served it to me and it was a peanut butter smoothie. I went into anaphylactic shock and he couldn't even apologize or show any remorse. I could've died that day because he likes to joke around with life-threatening food allergies. I wouldn't have reached these lengths if he was at least apologetic but he basically said it was my fault. All my friends I go with to hear him say "extra peanut butter" as a joke so I have tons of witnesses. I would like for this to be known for people with life threatening allergies. read more

They snuck some shredded carrots into the chicken salad for extra health benefits. From getting a chicken shwarma to chili with chicken, everything is always fresh and delicious. You are paying a little more for higher quality and fresher food. If this place was a little cheaper I'd probably order everyday. $6 for a shake is a little steep. The only thing I've had here that I didn't like was the tabbouleh.
