Stumbled upon this tiny place tucked on West Fairbanks on a whim just searching up Mediterranean food. We received the warmest welcome from each individual worker and the owner, and I could tell they were genuine. I got the #5, a simple gyro. But my goodness was it overflowing with flavorful shaved meat! I came no where near finishing it and ended up sharing the rest for dinner. My partner got the #10 which was chicken kabobs, peta, a salad, and a soda. I was also shocked by the amount of food for the price. The helping of chicken was huge! They definitely are not skimping out on the portion size, flavors, or quality of their food. Great service from staff who were helpful and made you feel welcomed. The ambiance of the deli is classic deli with Mediterranean decor. The food was amazing with large portions and great flavor! This quick-serve place was plain and simple good. The owner was so friendly. They made every person who walked in the door feel like family. I had the gyro which was carved to order and PACKED with meat. The pita was soft and the tzatziki was the perfect topper. And the falafel to quote my husband, "best falafel in Orlando". Small local spot, which I cannot recommend enough! The staff are extremely polite and friendly and great you with a smile as you enter. We ordered the open face gyro platter with a side salad and it was more than enough for two people to share. The gyro was delicious and tender. The meal itself was a number 7 and came with a free drink which was a great deal. Also treated ourselves to a baklava, to which my boyfriend who isn't big into sweets ended up commandeering the entire thing for himself. It is a small parking lot outside and can be hard to find parking out front during the lunch rush. The inside is smaller and has a few tables to eat at but I noticed more people ordering to go. First time trying Mediterranean Deli, and really liked it! The employees were super friendly, with an exuberant greeting when we walked in (and to everyone who came in while we were there). The food was fresh, and the hummus was some of the best I've had. The place is (shock!) a deli, so the ambiance is the action at the counter, which can be loud at times, but fun to listen. We sat at a table near the counter, but there is seating in a back room, so presumably it could be less noisy. The veggie roll I ordered was sliced in six sections, but had been wrapped in plastic wrap, so I had to unwrap each piece, which made it a little cumbersome to eat. I rarely believe what I read on Facebook, but this time, the people were right. The owner was super nice and a very hard working man. He made every gyro while I was there and wow. It was delicious. For our Easter celebration, we decided to serve Mediterranean food and as we looked at our possible stores and restaurants for the dishes, Mediterranean Deli rose to the top of the list based on past visits (none in recent history though). We ordered ahead for pick up: gyro meat, baklava and Tabouleh salad. Because I attempted to order the meat by pounds, I found out that they only serve menu items. Of course, this means that the gyro meat sandwiches include warm pita and (incredible) tzatziki sauce. What's changed through the years? Only the store front and a few gray hairs on Walid. The meat was as flavorful, moist and plentiful as ever, the baklava was the size of a slice of pie and flaky and exuding the right amount of honey and the tabouleh salad fresh with the parsley, tomato and vinegar shining through. When I arrived at the pick up time, Walid greeted me with the same greeting he gives to everyone: "Hello, my friend!" They are also very generous with their meat portions which is awesome! We asked for extra tzatziki on the side which we added to every bite. My ONLY complaint, is that their closing hours are so annoying. They don't close at 6, they close earlier. Last time we went, it was 5:30 and they were closed. This time, by the time we finished our meal(5:45), they were all cleaned up and all the food was gone which sucks because we wanted to take some home for my family. They walked behind us and locked the door immediately as we exited. Like come on, that sucks. All in all, I'm coming back. So I went down to pick up the "open face gyro combination w/salad" for everyone. The meat was excellent, rich flavor and not dry. The salad was a Greek salad and they don't get check with any of the portions. The inside was pretty simple but that wasn't why I went there. Haha The owner and staff were also 5 star.
