Salmon Croquettes & Grits
Breanne R.

Although Pow was overall an enjoyable brunch, there are some areas they could improve. We sat on the lounge side, which I came to regret because the music was so loud I could barely hear my friend speaking and she was sitting right next to me. The service could also use some improvement as my waitress was seemed to do the bare minimum and did not check on us at all once she gave us our food. As for the food, everything was tasty. I ordered the salmon croquettes and grits, which were well seasoned. I do think they could have given me one more for $26, especially because they gave me so many grits. However, I definitely enjoyed the flavor and the grits were creamy. My friend also enjoyed her food and said everything was seasoned well.

Food is really delicious. I had the catfish and grits. The grits were creamy and cheesy which I loved. The catfish was seasoned well and crispy. Waitress was nice, patient, and knowledgeable of the menu. I do wish they sold like a pitcher drink for the table. Would because the food was good!!

My boyfriend and I was looking for somewhere to eat that has southern food. We stumbled upon this place and we had no reservations. We were seated immediately upon entry but the space is so small. If you have a large party this not the place for it. The tables were so close to the next guests it almost feels like I'm in a living room. Everyone conversations were carrying over it was soo loud plus the music playing. The tables being so close turnt me off. After sitting and waiting for our meals we didn't realize it took an hour for our food to come until the table next to us asked us how long we were here for. I wasn't sure why our meal took so long and the waitress apologized. I also had a fake eyelash in my drink but the staff was very nice to switch it without a problem. The food overall was seasoned very good and came out hot which made up for the tight space. I'll come back possibly on a different day where it's less pack because it was Sunday brunch time.

I checked this place out for brunch with a few others. We made a reservation online in advance which I definitely recommend as it is a small place that gets very busy very quickly. The location isn't great, but don't let that deter you from stepping inside where the decor is beautiful. My party was seated immediately upon our arrival and greeted quickly by our server. The good: the food was absolutely incredible. I ordered the catfish and grits which was well seasoned and a solid portion size that I had to take half of to go. My friend ordered catfish, yams, and greens and had rave reviews for her meal. The third member of our party ordered the shrimp and grits and said the flavor was great but was a little disappointed in the lack of shrimp in the dish. We also ordered mimosas which were pretty standard but a little pricey at $11/ glass. The bad: We were informed that our server was new which definitely came across. She didn't introduce herself and appeared as if she hated every second of being there. She didn't make any recommendations or explain much of the menu. She didn't instinctually do anything like bring water to the table, take empty plates, ask if we wanted refills, or offer to bring boxes when it seemed like the meal was wrapping up. We had to ask her and others working for pretty much everything. We also felt extremely rushed at the end of our meal (around the 90 minute mark) as she came over ready to cash us out while we were still eating and basically stared at us from a far until we left the table. I understand that the place is busy, but that experience in itself had me vow to never eat in the restaurant again. The food is so good, however, that I would absolutely order take out if I was in the area. I don't know if it was because we were there before the dj came, but I definitely felt that the vibes were off which was unfortunate as I was really looking forward to eating here. Definitely come for the food but do not expect good service.

POW is such a vibe with great food and drinks! The music sets the tone! I had the catfish and grits and a pancake and I was amazed at how good it was! So if you're looking for a good brunch spot, be sure to drop in! You will not be disappointed!

Man, the food was so good I really want to give them 4 stars! But there were just a couple things that need to improve so I can do that. The food was delicious! I ordered the Shrimp & Grits and also shared the Chicken & Waffles. The grits for the Shrimp & Grits were so creamy and cheesy! They fit my flavor profile to the T!! However my dining partner did not enjoy them, feeling like they were too cheesy to have with fried catfish. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and dressed in an amazing cream sauce that I wish there were a little more of on the dish. The waffle was delicious! Crispy, not too dense even though it was almost an inch thick, great buttermilk flavor. The wings were just alright but seasoned well. I did taste the catfish which was fried to perfection, just needed a hair more seasoning. What keeps me from that 4 rating is a couple things. I visited on a Friday just before noon. There was a crowd and as tables left, tables came right in the door. There was one extremely hard-working hostess/waitress. She had to work the entire room. She did great for the conditions but her manner reflected working under a lot of pressure. While it took us a while to have the chance to order, the food came out in a decent amount of time. I tell you, I was shocked to be handed a utensil kit like you get with takeout orders upon walking towards the table. Then to be brought our drinks in plastic and styrofoam cups... This was not what I expected because from the hype I've heard about this spot, I was of the belief the experience would be a little more classy. Sorry, just being honest. Maybe this was because they were short-staffed and couldn't deal with dishes? I don't know but boy, the paper service items really took me by surprise. Other reviewers have mentioned the small size. I hadn't read reviews before visiting so this was an adjustment for me as well. They have done an awesome job of filling the space to capacity but it does mean very close quarters while dining. When other guests (multiple, different tables) are having facetime conversations that make it hard to hear the person you are sitting across from, it does impact the experience. Add in the R&B (awesome selections, btw) pumping out of a speaker at ear-level, it felt like a lot. (Suggestion: put the speaker at the top of the wall.) Again, the food was phenomenal for me! And the prices were reasonable for what the experience is (I believe) intended to be. But we have to get some proper beverage containers and silverware. I would visit again in the future if I knew these things were addressed.

Food is GREAT. Servers and hostess are GREAT. VIBE is great. The area and plaza it's in is not aesthetic at all BUT inside is very nice, bathroom clean. However we booked a party and there are too many rules, can't decorate table, like nothing. Not even table cloth. They don't have appetizers so can't order any for the table. I figured I'd just order sides as apps but nope you can't put in multiple orders, only 1 big order for entire table. So couldn't do that. Management needs to figure out these little tweaks because this place has great potential. Overall good experience.

The food is amazing!!! It's seasoned perfectly. Everything bite was a little piece of heaven in my mouth. My group ordered lots of food. We were very pleased with the service. The atmosphere is a vibe and DJ was on point with the old school music. He catered to the people in the restaurant. You got to come check this place out. I'm usually very critical of restaurants, but I have nothing bad to say about this restaurant! It's just really great!

POW was cool, but it didn't totally wow me. I ordered the fried chicken and waffles, which was good, but honestly, it was your typical fried chicken and waffles--nothing too special. The drinks, though, were delicious and definitely hit the spot. It's one of those typical brunch spots with loud music and hookah, so if that's your vibe, you'll love it. The service was great, but the location looked rundown. Overall, I enjoyed the experience, but I probably wouldn't go back.

Food was tasty but the wait was over an hour for take out. The portions were good except for the collard greens. It was just turkey skin. Very little greens. Three bites max of greens.

When we entered, because my friend had been here before, she knew the waitress. She greeted her and gave us a choice of seats. We scanned the qr code for the menu. Our waitress came over and introduced herself, Marlo. She was training a new waitress. She said we don't have croquettes. We said ok, thanks. She asked us if we would like something to drink. My friend ordered coffee. I asked for a diet coke. Marlo said, "we don't have that". I asked if they had anything diet. She said, (with a matter of fact tone), no water. At that point she lost me. My friend ordered the lamb chops, Parmesan potatoes, a side of cheesy grits, toast and grape jelly. I placed my order, conch fritter waffle. Marlo said, "we don't have that". My friend said, you said there were no croquettes. She said, "oh my bad". I said if I had known, I would have a selected something else. She said take your time, while standing impatiently waiting for me to order. I ordered an omelet. (Not what I wanted). After we were almost finished eating, Marlo brought the mixed fruit jelly. The lamb chops and potatoes were piping hot. The chops were tender and the potatoes were very tasty. My omelet was also hot, the bacon was crispy but I have had a better omelet at Denny's. SN: the new waitress name was Tera. Her personality was fabulous. She was very polite. I am recommend POW because of the food taste. I am rating a 3 star because of Marlos attitude and the omelet has a lot to be sdesired. Ask for Tera's section.

Portions were generous--so much so that I ended up saving half for later, which made the $26 price point feel like a great value. The presentation stood out right away. Everything was packaged neatly and thoughtfully, making it perfect for takeout. My order took about 20 minutes, which felt reasonable given the freshness of the food. What truly made the visit memorable, though, was the service. The cashier, Deja, was exceptional. She managed the entire front of the house on her own--taking orders, making drinks, cleaning, and consistently greeting every customer who walked in. Her energy and attention to detail didn't go unnoticed. As someone familiar with the industry, I can confidently say Deja's an incredible asset to their team. Definitely worth checking out!

As the place was empty and two women working were talking at the bar I walked in and went to sit. One of the women asked if I was with the group and then told me I needed to wait to be seated. It was awkward. It was a bit rude. Most times it's not what you say, but how you say it. Maybe it's just me, but the waitress immediately informed me that three items weren't available, including biscuits and cornbread of some sort. As a first-timer, it was weird. Fortunately, everything got better from there. My first meal, regardless of time, needs to be breakfast-y. As I perused the weekday brunch menu via QR code (what if you don't have a phone?) I ordered a coffee and water. The water came quickly, but the coffee took its time. I ordered the Wafflette (don't you want to try things you can't get other places?) It came as pictured and was good. The syrup was quite watery and left a lot to be desired, but I really didn't need it. The star of this dish is the bacon. I could have bathed in this bacon. It was thick and chewy, such a nice compliment. I don't know if there are bar stools available and whether they set up center aisle seating when it's more crowded, but the restaurant appeared clean and well-kept. There were no rounds available when I went, so I don't know how they accommodate groups of 10+, I sat along the banquette that could accommodate two. I am very interested in returning to try the ox tails, which are available in two (or was it three) dishes on the menu. I look forward to revising my review then.

It was also a task order as they were out of a lot of items on the menu so the menu was very limited. I ended up ordering a wing meal, which was about $19 with two sides. I also ordered the kids meal. The chicken wing meal was five wings, portion of rice, candied yams, and macaroni and cheese . I will say that portion sizes were a bit small for the price. The yams were perfectly seasoned not too sweet not too tart. The macaroni and cheese was also very delicious. It had the right amount of cheese and the right amount of crisps on top. I wish there was a little bit more to taste, and the wings were perfectly fried and seasoned well. I will say the chicken tenders for the kids meal were very tiny. They were more like strips instead of actual full-size tenders and they were packaged with the fries which made them extremely sweaty and wet, and the fries were also very soggy. I would recommend packaging the items separately and not stuffed in a box to sweat together. The drink for the kids meal was very tasty a little on the sweet side. It was their mystery tropical drink. Customer service was extremely friendly. I had to ask for condiments and napkins but overall they seem like young kids that did their best. I will say the price is a little bit on the tad side. This was almost $30 and the serving sizes just weren't there for the money. But the taste was great. I'll definitely try again as I really wanna try a few other items on the menu that they were sold out of.

As odd as it is to go during the day and have brunch, I would say it is the move. You pull into a plaza where everything else is closed except for this business and say hi to the security guard stationed at the entrance of the place---at 11 AM---to walk into a lounge beautifully decorated with green walls, floral accents and a disco ball. It is clear that the majority of patrons come much later in the day, like after 9 PM, to get bottle service listening to a DJ or any other performer. This would explain why the air conditioning was cranked so high, to accommodate the bodies and electricity that would pack the place much later. Our server didn't crack a smile but immediately brought us water after we asked and rounded back twice to take our order. Like I said, going during the day when there are only about 5 other parties dining seems to be the move for prompt service and food preparation. The dishes came out super hot and fresh. The Creole Seafood Omelette ($26) was chock full of well seasoned shrimp and lobster and cheese, with a creamy roux on the side that was good to occasionally dip a bite into but wasn't necessary all the time. The potatoes that came on the side were just the right amount of crispy while leaving some heartiness to them. The Fried Chicken and Waffles ($26) included flavorful fried chicken with breading that didn't quit when you tore it or cut into it. The cool part of this dish is the choice you have of the waffle it comes with. The Cookies and Cream Waffles should be your go-to. They were topped with the chocolate cookie sandwich crumbles and a great homemade vanilla icing. For a Lauderhill establishment in an area where you really don't know of anything else happening, this place is worth a venture out for your brunch. I'd go back to try the other items and drinks!
