This tucked away upscale blue collar Bar & Grill is not to be missed. As with all of Chef Lino's locations you can count on delicious food and good service. Britney was my mixologist today. She made a yummy Tito's Martini for me. I was impressed right from the start. She made my martini, then she noticed something wrong, she poured it out and started all over with a new glass. Now that's good service and attention to detail. Kieran delivered my order of the pork belly popcorn. OMG, what a delicacy. It was sprinkled with Parmesan and sautéed jalapeños. It was accompanied with red pepper aioli & hot sauce. The pork belly was crunchy and rich, the sauces flavorful. What a Treat! Try. It you'll like it! Friday nights they have live music inside. Friday & Saturdays they have Karaoke in the back patio. read more

We've been to The Pour House twice now, for the live music and the fun, laid-back atmosphere. If you're looking for a true Bakersfield local hangout, this is it. The dive bar vibe is exactly what you'd hope for, and everyone from the servers to the bartenders is incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food is a bit more of a mixed bag. The menu is pretty limited, with no plant-based options. I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo, and while it was very cheesy and comforting, it really just needed a generous amount of black pepper to bring the flavors to life. My husband had the Chicken Alfredo and enjoyed it. He also ordered the clam chowder, which he said had good flavor, but it arrived cold enough that the bowl could have used a little warming before it was served. For us, The Pour House isn't really about the food, it'sabout the experience. Great live music, a relaxed neighborhood feel, good drinks, and genuinely awesome people behind the bar make it a place we'll happily come back to on Friday nights. If you're looking for a casual spot to grab a drink, listen to some music, and enjoy one of the friendliest crowds in Bakersfield, it's definitely worth checking out. read more

We rolled up to the Pour House on a Friday at about 3:30 pm and had the entire patio to ourselves. The patio is huge! The staff were great - very informative about the menu. And the food was so good. Everyone left super happy and full! The salads are massive and definitely satisfy. This is a favorite among the family - we'll all be back for sure! read more

Outside it looks like a biker bar in an industrial area, but inside, there's fine food being served up. I think this might be the only place in town that has Beef Wellington on the menu, and Chef Lino's recipe is really good. Want something more mainstream and less expensive then there's an assortment of sandwiches and salads on the menu too. The beer is always cold, and the servers are very friendly and attentive. We try and go to The Pour House at least once a month, and even though it's a bit of a drive for us, it's always worth it. read more

Sleeper of a place. Fun ambiance, great service, and guess the chef from the old Med restaurant is there as well. My New York and jalepeno mashed potatoes were incredible and for sure will come back. Happened to have live music as well when I was there so a great night overall and will be back. read more

Came for the Summer Fest to hang out with friends. I enjoy a live band and I got there just in time to watch the infamous Joe Peters/co-owner of the bar. He was good, I can see what all the hype is about. I hadn't been here in a while and noticed they extended the outdoor patio area quite a bit. It has plenty of ceiling fans built in for those terribly hot summers Bakersfield is known for and also heaters for the winter. Overall this place has definitely gotten an upgrade. We all know about Chef Lino coming in and turning the kitchen into one of the most talked about ones in town and believe me it's warranted. The food is amazing! read more

Great lunch spot. I've had dinner and lunch here. Food has always been great. Chef Lino's menu. Service has been good. Drinks are tasty. Jukebox for the cherry on top. Big outdoor covered area that is perfect for groups. My first time in really surprised me. Much better than I had expected. read more

The food is good and the service is as well. It's a nice neighborhood bar. The prices are a little high but all in all a nice place.

Cool little spot, nice bar, friendly folks, great atmosphere, a little loud, good food, great drinks. I had the stroganoff, wife had the bbq ribs on special. Both were really good. If we ever overnight nearby again, we will be back. read more

Love pour house atmosphere and prices for drinks. Food is amazing as well. Quick and attentive service.

The service by Eric was excellent. However, to go from a pint of beer to a 12 oz for the same price is crap. If you're going to switch from more to less at post it somewhere. That's shady and a rip off. Have extra glasses of pints if you're going to charge the same. Keep it fair. read more

Ok so read a few reviews and some dinging the Pour House for the advertised 21 and older that is all over the entrance. That should tell you kids aren't allowed. So you really shouldn't give a bad review because you brought kids under 21!!! This was our first time here and I absolutely love this place and will try to make this one of our regular stops. The service was absolutely awesome and the food was outstanding!!! I had the Philly with fries. It was huge with tender perfectly cooked medium rare ribeye. I did hold the jalapeño's. The fries were cooked perfectly. Nice and crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside!!! We are looking forward to trying more of Chef Lino's creations!!! read more

It is date night, and I told my man I wanted to go to Pour House though I went last week lol. Thursday night seems to be a popular night. A good number of other customers, yet it was easy to find a seat. Our servers are always very sweet and welcoming. I'm good with a glass of wine (they have a house Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio for $6) between the two, I think think the Pinot Noir is a bit better, and my guy ordered a Manhattan $14. I think my spicy margarita last time was very good. Having tried more things food wise, we've settled into our favorites. Each time we go, we definitely get the pork belly popcorn which is always loved by others who dine with us. Besides the rib eye special, our favorites on the menu thus far are the Chicken piccata and the Salmon in a homemade butter lemon sauce. For sides, hands down we loved the asparagus and the spinach and mushrooms. My boyfriend never likes vegetables but he said he could eat a whole plate of the spinach and mushrooms lol. Last night we both finished everything off of our plate. It was all so delicious, and dare I add "healthy?" read more

Went there on Friday for dinner. Arrive around 530 and place was pretty empty which I was surprised. For apps we ordered bacon wrapped pickles and jalepeno poppers, both were decent. For dinner we ordered the New York steak and cilantro pesto pasta. The steak had great flavor, was just a bit overcooked as we asked for medium rare. The pasta was very good, I would definitely recommend trying that pasta dish. Will be back to try other menu items. read more

Really enjoy this spot. Food is great as well as the drinks and service. I wish they would get better fries though.

By this point, we all know chef Lino can cook. The man's tomahawk tacos were the only thing I got back in line for, one year at villagefest. But, and in my most humble opinion, if you want the type of meal that alters your mind, and makes you reevaluate your stance on what you know about the culinary world, I recommend heading to the pour house and ordering the beef stroganoff, just once in your life. The most comfort of comfort meals is transformed into a meal that makes you pay attention to it and says I am more than the sum of my parts! If you're hangry, it'll make you happy, if you're lonely, it'll make you feel comforted and loved. It isn't comfort food, it's every core memory you've had, that makes you feel at home. Go to the pour house ignore the aesthetic, order this meal, and leave happy. read more

Super loud.... Smallish. Slow service but we were not in a hurry. I had 2 Long Island iced teas. Wow!!! Potent and VERY tasty!!! Glad I had a driver! Food was amazing!!! I had baked scallops, jalapeño mash potatoes and asparagus. So full of flavor!! Sooooo wonderful!!! My wife had chicken Picatta and fell in love!! Our friends had shrimp scampi, and Barbarcoa and were equally pleased with them. We shared chocolate cake for dessert, which was a little dry and anti-climactic. read more

There is a few good things about this hole in the wall Karaoke dive, but when they decided to leap from a dive bar, to a fake gourmet 1 inch taco that are literally the size of my lime wedge, is when I have to speak up. See I grew working in Four Star Five Diamond resorts such as Rancho Bernardo Inn, La Valencia, & Omni La Costa Resort, Paradise Point Resort & Spa, and I have worked in French gourmet service with a famous chef, and what Chef Lino is plating up is a disgrace to the culinary art itself. Don't waste your money on micro tacos, reaching to be an hors d'oeuvre. They need to stay true to what they've always been and go hardy, not skinny overpriced bits that don't make sense or fit their brand or their demographic patron. It's kind of an oxymoron now that the "Pour House" is trying to be the "Rich house"... The Bar tenders are great though. read more

We went to The Pour House this evening as my choice for a birthday dinner. The food was wonderful. We had chips, salsa, and guacamole as an appetizer. Not an exciting appetizer, but surprisingly tasty! I had the special, and I recommend getting whatever the special is. Tonight it was the Salisbury Steak. I almost didn't get it since it reminds me of TV dinners, but it was the special, so I was all in. Woah. It was absolutely the bomb. The taste made me salivate on every bite and the jalapeño mashed potatoes and asparagus complement the dish. One companion got the Shrimp Diablo (wow, just wow, with the rice and beans as sides), another the salmon in a lemon butter sauce, and the other the pork barbacoa. Out of all the dishes, all but the salmon would be a strong repeat order and the salmon was very good. I would encourage lunch or dinner at the Pour House. Keep in mind that this is for 21 and older patrons. read more

My mom and I stopped in for lunch last Monday on Presidents Day just before noon. We were greeted by a wonderful waitress but unfortunately I don't remember her name. She was very polite and patient as my mom asked a few questions about the menu and Chef Lino. The restaurant was clean, relatively quiet, had ample lighting, and had an older, more mature crowd. It was the perfect setting for lunch with your parents. I enjoyed the big comfy chairs at our table, too. We eventually settled on a couple of salads and we shared the quesobirria taco plate, which is served with three tacos, sauce, and a lime and were very good. We each had a glass of the house chardonnay as well. It was alright, but the Josh was much better. I remembered this bar being a rough and tumble biker bar many years ago, but it seems it has reinvented itself. Give it a shot, and you'll be glad you did! read more

We had a great late lunch on Monday at the Poor House. We were greeted by the bartender and Brittney our waitress as we entered. We had just left Costco and were starving, hadn't been to the Poorhouse in a while. We weren't disappointed. Britney had our menu to us in no time. We know everything coming out of Lino's kitchen is delicious. It didn't take us long to make our choices, Denise ordered the strawberry salad with chicken mine was the chicken swiss avocado sandwich on ciabatta bread with the garlic fries. The baseball playoffs were on one of the 2 nice TVs we had a great table. Texas was beating Houston. 2 more couples came in said hi to everyone and seated themselves I like the homey feeling in here. Our order was brought out promptly Denise's salad was a monster could of used a bigger plate there was so much grilled chicken. My sandwich was a load too with the all fries it took us 2 innings to finish this excellent lunch. We both belonged to the clean plate club. The poorhouse was starting to get busier, Monday night football would be a fun site to enjoy good food in a fun atmosphere . We definitely will return soon The sign next to the front door was right on read more

Another great lunch. I had the shrimp scampi from the dinner menu $22 while my friend had the seafood pasta special $28. The flavors were a home run. It was mixed and served carbonara style with Salmon, Catfish, shrimp, and Scallops that would melt in your mouth. Cooked to perfection and flavors that makes you keep coming back. read more

Wow, what a delicious surprise! In the dark, in a new town, I wasn't sure what we were going to experience in an industrial area of town. Just came from dinner at the Pour House. Didn't take pictures of the food because we couldn't wait to get out of there. It was so loud. A young man started playing guitar, which would've been great just acoustic, but he was plugged in to amplifiers and we couldn't hear ourselves talk. The strawberry salad with chicken was delicious. My brother and I both had the taco plate with a shrimp taco and the pork belly taco really good. The rice was bland. I don't recommend it as part of your side. Service was fine. But like I said, it was so loud. We will check to make sure there's not music when we go again. read more

You walk in and think bar. The waitress that helped us was eh. Theresa's another waitress we encountered from a different resturant, who also worked there and she provided better service. Anyways, back to food. The nice waitress recommended the beef wellington. I've never seen it on a menu here in Bakersfield so ofcourse, hook it up. And omg. It did not disappoint. The pastry was wasdelicious and the steak was cooked to perfection. Wish I had a little more mashed potatoes but it's ok. So savory. I loved it. My husband got the chicken Alfredo and he was impressed. He didn't care for the menu plus the prices were a bit high. He didn't understand why I wanted to go there until after we left and he heard radio commercials on Chef Lino. He might give it a try again. The place isn't my scene. I don't care for the bar scene. It does look like they have a following and you get looks like "who are these people." Made it feel uncomfortable especially with the "eh" waitress. If you could look past all the environmental aspects, the food is bomb. read more

This is not your typical fine dining experience, but the food is worthy of it. I heard their food was fantastic from a coworker and it did not disappoint! The ambience is dive bar, but the barbacoa is one of the best bites I've had in a long time! The meat was perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and the smoky spice of the sauce was delicious on everything on the plate. We started with the pork belly popcorn, which was basically fried pork belly with 2 spicy sauces. The chipotle was super flavorful, but ended with a lot of heat. I ended up using ranch to cut it a bit and that worked for me. The presentation was awkward, they used a paper cone to represent popcorn, but we ended up with a puddle of grease on the table and using our forks to grab was difficult. Toward the bottom the cone unfurled and dropped about 10 pieces of pork on the table in the puddle of grease. The Wellington was good, it was a perfectly ordered medium rare, the wine reduction was complimentary with the onions and mushrooms on the inside of the pastry, but the sauce wasn't robust enough to compete and many of the bites just tasted like steak, so it wasn't perfect. The asparagus and spinach were perfectly cooked and well seasoned, and the fries were crispy and not overpowered by the garlic or parmesan. We were very happy with our meal and will be back for different offerings. read more

We discovered Pour House on reading about it on the Bakersfield Californian. Wow! Glad I did. Great reviews and raves for Chef Lino. We checked it out, now it's our go to place for great food, drinks and service. The bartender is a true professional, I had a Tito's Martini that was made perfectly. Their service is warm, friendly and top notch. The first visit I had the ribs. I love well prepared ribs and Chef Lino's were amazing. Tender and fall off the bone perfection, served with pinto beans and garlic fries, the perfect match for the ribs. On subsequent visits I've had the chicken piccata, also amazing. All their dishes are prepared well with the touch of eating at a 5 star restaurant at a user friendly price. I encourage you too check out the Pour House, well worth it. read more
