Pouly is a bakery chain having locations across Switzerland, with a dozen plus boutiques in Geneva alone. This must be a new location, for not only could I not find it on yelp, but even googling doesn't come up with this location (though one can find it buried on the company website). But, it's located one floor below street level in the metro shopping area inside Gare Centrale, Geneva (Cornavin). There's a boulangerie/patisserie where one can buy anything from croissants, breads, pastries and there's also a tea room just across with a good selection of sandwiches.
It's difficult to decide on a single rating for the two. While I thoroughly enjoyed the roast beef sandwich as well as the tuna sandwich at the tea room (4 stars) the baked goods purchased to go at the boutique across disappointed (3 stars). I can barely tolerate a room temperature croissant, but I have absolutely no patience for one that is refrigerated. Same was the case with the bakery pizza, and no mechanism/offer to heat (at tea room across) it up. So, if you're looking for something savory: go across to the (Pouly) tea room instead.
That said, the caramel and chocolate pastry atop the shortbread cookie crust was excellent (4.5 stars). I would recommend that above and over anything else in the boutique. There's a reason why a picture of the pastry comes up repeatedly on their Facebook page. Get it! read more
