Last February, I visited this Pottery Barn for first and last time. When I entered the store, a customer service rep was engaged with the only other customer in the store. Three other employees were looking at a computer screen a few feet from me. At no time did they acknowledge me by so much as a "Good morning" After about fifteen minutes, rep finished with her customer and engaged with me. She was pleasant and I bought a 1600 dollar mattress. During this transaction, I repeatedly expressed that support would be needed to assemble the bed frame. I was assured when the parts arrived, a team would assemble the bed. That did not happen. When the last parts arrived, it was by US mail. Of course there was no team to assemble the bed. I called the store and was told by another rep that I didn't opt to pay the 160 dollar assembly fee. This was something I was never offered. I offered to pay the fee but the manager refused to send a team to my house. Instead, I was told I should return the purchase and the store would send it back to the factory and then they would reship it. In essence, I would be without a bed for weeks. Fortunately, even though I am 74 years old, I still regularly lift heavy weights in the gym. So I asked a friend for help and we muscled the 130 lbs of bed parts up the stairs and the king size old mattress down the stairs. Pottery Barn put in in a bad spot with no apologies. I made a phone purchase of a Pottery Barn headboard and was lied to 3 times by their customer service rep who assured me if I did not like my purchase I would receive a full refund for the purchase price on MY CREDIT CARD, not be given a merchandise credit. Not so when the item came in. I did everything I was supposed to do, met all deadlines, followed their instructions to the letter. I am not stuck with a $450 merchandise credit. They claim that they have no way to go back and review the recorded call logs so they are prefect content with a perpetrating a $450 fraud and not taking responsibility for the les I was told by their rep. They are a billion dollar corporation, I'm better with a little work they can go back if they cared about a customer who was lied to. I was shocked to hear about their being sued for lying and saying that various products were made in the USA that were instead made in places like China. I think my experience and the above tells exactly you who Potter Barn has become as a company and they are no longer the responsible company they were. I will NEVER shop with them again, as long as Ilive. I had spent about 12K in the past and we were thinking of getting a new living room and dining room furniture and my daughter will be heading out on her own in two years. So a decent about of business they have lost. None of us will be pottery barn shoppers in the future due to how abused we feel by this experience. I am going to purse a Better Business Bureau complaint and a small claims court complaint and writing my Attorney Generals Office's consumer complaints department for fraudulent practices. I placed an order for a dining table that I was told was a stock item on 8/10/24. it is now 10/20/24. I still remain without a delivery date. I was told stories from everyone. First warehouse closed my items ship to different warehouse are on hold. They stated hd was removed. Never received furniture. Then I was told my order was custom which it was not. would receive end of September which I did not. Then I was told it was lost. Then I was told 2 chairs were in warehouse I could get them. I was told I could not cancel order and if I did I will be responsible for the price if the furniture. This has been one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. Wow! Pottery Barn at Towson Town Center is going down hill fast. I love PB furniture and home goods, but this store is not worth the trip to the mall. I went on a weekday when the mall wasn't busy. I was looking for bathroom mirrors, specifically, and have had good luck with PB in the past...even bought some furniture at this store. I walked in and the store was empty. I was the only customer. I walked past two workers who didn't acknowledge me. Then another who was organizing things in the back. Another in the mirror display who ignored me, then one more who was working at the counter and appeared to have a manager's badge or something that distinguished her apart from the rest of the employees. We made eye contact. For a minute. I paused. She then looked at her phone again. Unbelievable. Not one of the five even said hello or offered to assist me. They actually had expensive mirrors I was interested in, but I will go somewhere else where customer service actually still exists. Do better, PB! read more

We made a trip to the mall because we just moved. The older lady greeted us and we walked around. When we were near the front, her younger male coworker asked us if we needed any help and as we're within earshot, she asked him why he bothered to ask. He asked why and he wanted to see if we needed help. She told him that he shouldn't bother since we're walking around with our kids and are not serious buyers. I'm sorry, do we have to get a babysitter to look at furniture at a mall? The fact that we took our kids out and to that specific section of the mall should communicate that we're serious furniture shoppers. We actually have a pretty substantial list of furniture that we wanted to buy and she obviously works on commission so that was pretty poor logic on her part. I'm appalled by the lack of respect and professionalism. The younger associate was great, this older woman was crass and unprofessional. She most certainly makes us not want to buy any furniture from Pottery Barn. What a horrible person to make people feel bad for shopping with their children. Hire better people to represent your brand. I just read a previous review and I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same woman. read more

This review is about potterybarn in general not this store location. I Purchased a bed from Potterybarn and paid over $1,500, which included mandatory delivery and set up fees. The bed was delivered about 2 years ago and appeared to be defect-free. About two weeks ago I moved the bed, while painting my room, and discovered the back of the headboard was coming apart. This part of the bed had faced a wall and was never exposed to any wear and tear. On 5/28/18, I called potterybarn to report my discovery and see if there was any way they could repair this issue. They advised me they could not repair but would rather send me a card with 15% of my purchase (roughly about $185). Today I called potterybarn again (twice) and was told a supervisor reviewed my claim back on 5/28 and told the customer service rep to call me and advised it had been denied. I never received a phone call. I was told this after I decided to follow up after over 2 weeks had passed. Their customer service has been poor and the quality of their merchandise is also poor. Keep this in mind when you considering ordering anything from this company as their furniture is junk and so is there customer service. read more

I ordered a custom leather sectional on April 14 2014, to be delivered June 12- many friends reassured me that this was a normal time frame to wait for a custom piece. On May 27 I called their customer service for update and was told that it was shipping that day. But June 10 I got a call from the local store indicating that my order was delayed until July 24 because of production issues with subpar leather. Well, it's July 23, and I called and they are not quite sure where it is in production, it hasn't been made or shipped yet. And no one in the company has followed up though I am promised DELIVERY tomorrow. I'm pretty annoyed, this is pretty poor customer service from a company that is supposed to be all about fine craftsmanship and excellence. I am waiting to hear back about the fate of my couch. In truth, I've been told that they will "compensate me for my inconvenience," but at this time I'm not sure if I'm patient enough to wait. I may cancel the couch and just go somewhere else. Now others tell me that Pottery Barn is frequently disappointingly late with their custom orders, so be mindful if this is what you are interested in. read more

On 7/20/19, my husband and I went to the Pottery Barn store in Towson. We walked in and were almost immediately greeted by a saleswoman. My husband explained that we were in the market for a leather swivel chair and had seen some online and wanted to check them out. He gave her the names of the actual chairs we were most interested in seeing (Irving and Tyler) and she said "we have those". I then said "Oh, you have them on display?" The saleswoman then bent her knees slightly, put her hands on them, looked directly at me and said "I said we have them" in a condescending tone. I have never had a salesperson speak to me in that way and for absolutely no reason other than I asked a question and she had to repeat herself. After that, I completely shut down. My husband continued to speak to her and a minute or so later she turned to me and said in another rude and unapologetic tone "I am sorry if I offended. I am only here to help you." I know that my body language told her I was not pleased with her but I did not say anything to her. I just nodded and followed her to one of the chairs on display my husband said he wanted to sit in. It was the Irving. The Irving comes in several different styles according to the internet (chair, recliner, swivel, and swivel glider). I think the swivel glider was what was of most appeal to my husband. He sat in the Irving that was on display and told the saleswoman that it swivels but does not seem to glide at all. Her snippy response was "Well this isn't La-Z-Boy". Perhaps a better response would have been "this is the swivel model, but you are correct that they do make a swivel glider in the Irving but we don't have a swivel glider in the showroom". But unfortunately, the saleswoman chose to continue to have attitude and act in a manner that is the complete opposite of what I envision as good customer service. I am not sure why, but we continued to walk through the store and look around even though I knew in my mind that I was not going to make a purchase from this saleswoman. After leaving the store and rethinking the incident, my husband and I have no intentions of making any future Pottery Barn purchases. We walked into the store prepared to drop $1000 + on a chair but, because of a bad experience, we walked out empty handed. Pottery Barn furniture and their other home goods are really cute but I would prefer to have my dignity and take my money to a store where the salesperson does not try to humiliate my husband and me. read more

I purchased a very expensive couch 14 months ago, at Pottery Barn in Towson, MD and already the fabric looks like it is falling apart: pulled, fuzzy, and overall not fresh. The fabric is billed as "performance fabric." They agreed to replace the couch and now they have reneged and told me that they will give me a slipcover (for a custom upholstered couch)! Placed an order for a quick ship sectional because I live in Baltimore and it was supposed to take 3-5 weeks to get to me. Go to check the status of the order...and its estimated delivery date is over 2 months away. Turns out that when they say Baltimore, they only mean Baltimore City, not Baltimore County. I was lucky that the customer service rep was able to get me a refund, but I'm really disappointed. I even asked if I could just change the delivery address to a couple of blocks away from me and just hire someone else to bring it the few extra hundred feet to my house(because I'm that close to the city line), and they said no. You'd think they'd be able to get it to me for $4k instead of juggling it between random warehouses for no reason. Worst part is that I got a PB Card; what a waste of a credit check. read more

Rude Associates.. I went to the Pottery Barn in Towson yesterday to buy shelves. They had the shells on display in the store. I asked to associates behind the counter for help. Neither were busy. Both were rude. The eight year old I was with whispered to me wow they're rude. Anyway, I asked about the shelf I wanted which was a Holman 4 foot in white. Without engaging me, she turned to her computer to find the shelf. She said we don't have that and no other store has it. You might be able to get it online. A lot of things are going that way. I said okay then I'll get it online. She said okay. Nothing else. So they didn't have things that were on display and the associate didn't care if I was there. For the prices they charge, I would expect at least a little bit of customer service. Gosh the eight year old I was with picked up on that second we went in the store. Avoid this location. read more

dont open their damn credit account. they try to talk you into it for some silly discount but you end up with a credit account that will not send a statement so you can't pay the bill. when you call to request a statement, if you ever get through the maze of voice mail prompts, you get a incredibly not helpful customer service rep. they may have good products but don't fall for the credit account scam. read more

One of the worst shopping experiences ever! I cannot believe that such a huge company with gorgeous and expensive furniture would hire incompetent and LYING management. I came in to Towson store and wanted to buy a Sheffield entertaining bar. A young man told me that he doesn't care whether I'll buy in store or online because he doesn't make commission of of the sale...? So he went online and helped me to order the bar. After 10 min his manager Crischenda came up to me and apologized for his incompetence because she would like me to cancel the Milne order and redo it in store... Before I even agreed, she dialed the number and appeared to cancel the order. To "gather my personal information" to place the order she asked me to give her my credit card... She swiped it and said "all is fixed" your order has been placed. All of this happened on Sunday. On Monday morning my banker called and said the she noticed that Pottery Barn charged me TWICE for the bar and caused my account to overdraw... I called Towson store and before I even had a chance to say what happened, Crischenda (manager) said that she already "took care of it"???? Two days later I got letter from Pottery Barn stating that my order cannot be placed because of INSUFICIENT FUNDS. I called again, and this time I asked them If this order has been indeed cancelled, and another Manager confirmed that the order couldn't be completed because my card was declined. 3 weeks went buy and I just got yet another order confirmation and charge on my debit account from Pottery Barn of Towson for the same bar!!!! I paid for it 3 times! When I called online support, they acted on my behalf and called Towson store... Crischenda LIED that I came back in person to the store TODAY and bought the bar again! I AM OUT OF STATE today! She must have made a copy of my personal debit card and kept it on file! BEWARE!!! read more
