I would be very wary of working with this business and the majority of the issues we encountered were with the manager. She took a frustrating situation and found ways to make them even more frustrating. Without going into every detail, just note that the wrong fabric was ordered initially. Their mistake. We had to go back into the cue to get the correct set and were told that they could not prioritize the reorder and to top it off, the manager acted as if our keeping the wrong product while we waited on the correct product was a favor to us. I explained that we had to have furniture to sit on and her primary concern was whether the wrong set could be resold. Fast forward, at over the 6 month period, when we had not received pillows that were part of the original order, we stopped in the store to check on the order. The manager said the pillows were in but could not be released because an invoice had not come with the pillows. She expressed there was no doubt that the pillows belonged to us. She acknowledged we had paid for the pillows 6 months previously. We left but the absurdity of the situation was really bothering me. So I called her back and after a second absurd conversation, she said we could take our pillows. My poor rating is not related to the time it took to get everything we ordered. My poor rating is due to a complete lack of customer focus vs a hyper focus on minor internal administrative processes. We will not do business with them again. read more

Back in Nov of 2019 my wife wanted to redecorate our living room with some New furniture. After what I thought was some careful research we decided to give Ethan Allen @ 8727 Loch Raven Blvd in Towson, MD a try. Let me say upfront Never Again. After several meetings with one of the designers "Mary" we chose a Sofa, Chair and Two custom Side pillows with the option of ordering an Ottoman or Coffee-table once the furniture was in my home to see how it would all come together. Approximately 6 to 7 weeks into the project I hadn't heard from Mary so I call her on her contact number. She informed me that she was No longer working for E A and ethically she could NOT contact me informing she was no longer there. However, she did say It was the Store's responsibility to contact me and follow up with the design, progress, delivery and help with any other purchase i had in mind.(Ottoman/ Coffee-table) Unfortunately that never happened and I was very disappointed that NO One from the Towson store cared enough to call me about Mary nor did they follow up with my purchase order. When I called the store I spoke with Barbara. She assured me that she would pick up where Mary left off and help with delivery, the 2 custom made pillows and the added Ottoman/Coffee table if we decided to purchase. Needless to say it went down hill from there. Each time I called I spoke to a different person and received different information. Returned phone-calls to me were very infrequent and never with the correct information. It was very frustrating. In early Jan I was informed that only one pillow came into the store and I could come and pick it up. I asked if I could wait until the 2nd pillow came in so I could pick up both pillows up at the same time. NO Problem I was told. A few short days later I received a call that BOTH pillows had come in. A week later I was driving near the Towson store so I called and asked if I could come in and pick up both pillows. I was told "there must be some mistake because only one pillow had come in". The so-called expected time frame for both pillows to arrive at the store would be the week of Jan 13th-17th. Unfortunately for me the second pillow never came in. BTW these two very small pillows cost me over $400.00. On Jan 24th our furniture arrived. The delivery men and their customer service was simply the best. They were professional, nice and answered my questions. Unlike the women in the Ethan Allen store in Towson. In the days that followed I made a few more calls regarding the pillows and all I got was the same old answer. "The second pillow is still not in and no answer as to when they expect it in. In Feb, nearly 12 Weeks after my original order was placed and a lot of frustration I once again called the store with the hope's for some good news. The woman I spoke to (sorry I don't have her name) proceeds to tell me "The reason your pillow is delayed, they ran out of fabric and they are trying to find more of it." At this point i am really upset especially hearing something like this for the very First time. I asked her "why has it taken 3 month for the truth to come out? Why was I not given the correct and truthful information early. Her response to me was, I needed to understand that sometimes things just happen. Not having the original designer and all the information and not having enough material to finish the job were good reason. It was one excuse after the other. Needless to say we had a heated discussion. She even had the nerve to tell me. If your not satisfied you can always go on Google and leave a bad review. So I took her advice, One review on Google, One on Yelp As of this writing Feb 19,2020 I am still waiting for the second pillow to arrive. If you like The Ethan Allen brand that's fine. As for me there is NO WAY now or in the future would go back to the Towson store to buy new Furniture. So if I were you, Stay away from the Ethan Allen Store in Towson, MD. Go buy it somewhere else. read more

When reading reviews on Ethan Allen in Towson, I can assure you I'm the expert!! I have been purchasing furniture, accessories, art, and window treatments for every room in my house from the incredible and talented Susan Alessi, for 20 years!! She has designed 3 gorgeous homes for us... out-doing herself each and every time. The quality of the furniture is simply unmatched, it is worth every penny. We are an active family with two teen boys and two large dogs, and I have never replaced a single piece of furniture because it was worn out, not a single piece. I've had very few problems along the way, and only with delivery dates. Dates will sometimes fluctuate because this is custom furniture. If you are ordering pieces to have for certain holidays.. shop early, just in case! I've not had many delayed deliveries, but this is sometimes the focus for some customers. Ethan Allen and most certainly, Susan Alessi, have become part of my family's story. I walked into the store as a young professional looking to furnish our first town house and I made a connection with Susan that has impacted my life more than I could ever have imagined. There is nothing more important than making a house a home.. and that's what she helps you create. I trust her talent explicitly. She has designed a home that is the favorite gathering place for all of our friends and family, and there is nothing that I love more than celebrating life in my beautiful home with the people I love most. read more

Dear Mr. Kathwari, We are writing to share with you our experiences at the Ethan Allen store at 8727 Loch Raven Blvd, Towson, Md. 21286. Our journey begins mid July 2017 and ends on May 29, 2018. For being true to your core values of Style, Quality and Environment we give you a 10! For service we would at best give this experience a 2. Let us explain. In mid-July based on a recommendation from some of our family members we visited the Ethan Allen store in Towson and connected with designer, Susan Alessi. Susan completed a living room and dining room floor plan on 7/22/2017. Her eye for design is top notch. Once she understood our style she put together a beautiful and stunning design. We placed an order for $38,204.99 (order # 4879866439) and bought off the floor a Cromwell leather recliner and Etagere for $2,977.39 (order # 4879878236). It was our desire to have the furniture arrival by Thanksgiving. We had an estimated date of arrival of 10/1/2017. Our chair and Etagere being floor stock arrived on 08/08/2017. Susan with her designer talents and eye for design continued to work with us on window treatments. On 8/26/2017 we placed an order for living room window treatments, $ 5039.24 (order # 4879917331) and dining room window treatments, $ 4,467.27 (order # 4879917403) again with desire for install by Thanksgiving. Estimated ship date was 10/26/17. We were excited with our design and our selections and looked forward to the transition of living room and dining room in our new home. Our furniture arrived before Thanksgiving. There were 2 small issues, the Silver Leaf Five Leg Table was very damaged, and the Antique Silver Cut Star Mirror was on back order. The desire was to have both of these items for an upcoming family Christmas party in a few weeks. Good news, the Silver Leaf table arrives day of party and manager Jill and Susan Alessi after some back and forth conversations with us, delivered to our home the table and mirror from the showroom floor. Dining room window treatments installed on 12/14/2017 before our Christmas gathering. At this time, we were told the living room treatments had a flaw in the fabric and would not be available. Finally, on Tuesday April 10, 2018 the living room treatments arrived and were scheduled for installation on this day. Between December 14th and April 10th there was no conversation or communication from Ethan Allen. The installer told us the brackets were ordered incorrectly and they were 6 inches and needed to be 3 inches and he could not install. We texted our designer Susan Alessi with no response. We called within the next week and Susan stated the brackets were going to be overnighted. We asked for a courtesy adjustment to our purchase since it was now 8 months since our order was placed. Susan informed us she would make this request to store manager Jill and have her return our call. No return calls. On 4/28/2018 we walked into Ethan Allen and met with Jill and Susan Alessi. This is where I believe you lost us as a customer and certainly recommending Ethan Allen to others. We expressed to Jill and Susan our concerns about lack of response and lack of communication. We asked where were the brackets if being overnighted? Neither had the answer and blamed it on another department of which they have no control over. When asked about our request for a courtesy adjustment the response was unbelievable. First, Jill stated have you ever worked with a designer before as she herself was a designer in Boca Raton, Florida and something always goes wrong and is unpredictable. Like this should make us feel better. She also stated that she did not have the authority to provide a courtesy inconvenience adjustment it must come from the regional manager. She asked if we received an inconvenience adjustment would it change our opinion of Ethan Allen and if not why should she even consider such a request. When asked who owns the customer for communication and managing the account, following up on back orders, overnight orders etc she responded Susan is "just the designer" and it is out of her hands. I was amazed at total lack of ownership, empathy and blaming other departments within the company. We described for her a customer service experience we had with Next Day Blinds and the phenomenal service recovery and how we went back just this week to them again. She stated, I hope you don't think you are getting your window treatments for free. We were appalled as that was never our request. She stated she would speak to her regional manager if we promised not to place any negative remarks on social media (YELP) or speak negatively of our experience to others. She called us on 5/14/2018 and told us she would give us 10% ($480.18) off the window treatments.
