We were in desperate need of furniture as we had moved and our existing furniture had not fit through the front door of the rowhome. My husband and I went to a few lower quality discount stores looking for living room furniture. We were VERY limited on what we could look at as we have a 28 1/2" front door which is 4-6" narrower than a standard door. After finding only a few couches that were going to fit through the door, we did some research on how well that furniture holds up, how long the fabrics hold up etc and decided that we wanted to look at good quality american-made furniture. The next day went to Jarrettsville Furniture. Our salesman, Mike, walked us around the floor and could not have been more knowledgeable about the brands, how they are made, pros/cons of each and what options & pricing they all had. Being able to see the interior of the cushions and examples of how the furniture is made right in front of you is very cool. We needed something ASAP and ended up finding a floor model that my husband and i both really liked. The moment of truth of course, was seeing whether it would fit through our front door. Mike called the head of the delivery department to come take a look and measure who came up, took the cushions off, measured everything and (thankfully) said that the feet could be taken off prior to delivery, but that it would fit! Because it was a floor model they could schedule the delivery for a few days later. The delivery team showed up on time, removed the front door, brought the couch in (and put the feet back on) and took all the plastic with them when they left. We could not be happier and haven't stopped talking about our experience since! Additionally, having just gone to High Point where you would expect a knowledgeable salesman and great customer service, we were disappointed that our salesman knew nothing about any of the brands on his sales floor, which only made us appreciate Mike and Jarrettsville Furniture more!

However, every time I change sheets, I hate myself for this purchase. The mattress is so very heavy that I cannot lift it to secure the sheets between the mattress and box springs! I live out of town -- my mother lives in a retirement community in Catonsville. I was visiting for a few days and realized that my mother needed a new mattress. I wanted to have it delivered while I was there so I could get her situated. I called and got David on the phone. He recommended a high quality mattress that was on sale for a good price. He arranged to have it delivered the next day. The delivery guys came when they said they would, took away the old mattress and put the new one in place. They even put the waterproof encasement and the mattress pad on the bed. My mother has a bad back and some mobility issues. The new mattress was super comfortable, but just a little bit thicker than her previous one. This made it more difficult for her to get into bed. I called David the next day to seek a solution. He suggested a lower profile foundation. He had one in stock. Because it was a safety issue, David moved heaven and earth to get the new foundation to my mother quickly. I had to leave before the foundation could be delivered (although it was just a day later). David and the manager of the Frederick store personally took the new foundation to my mother's home. When they were finished putting everything in place, David took the time to call me, told me that they had even made my mother's bed, and told me she was lovely. Honestly, I cannot imagine kinder, more effective service. Thank you!

My sister sent me here to find a bed for our mother that didn't cost an arm and leg but still was great quality and that's exactly what I found here at Jerry's. We found pillow tops-DOUBLE-SIDED pillow tops (where else can you find that without paying at least $1000?!!!). The answer is NOWHERE!! The Queen sets are normally $300-on sale for now (double check) for $250. WHAT?! Yes ma'am. Yes sir! You can't beat that deal. I got a chance to meet the man himself & he was helpful and friendly. My trip was quick and to the point. He even loaded the mattress in my van for me. He's been in the business for over 20 years and he knows his craft. He wants to help people and you can tell. Let me start by saying I am a woodworker, I have a small shop in…read moremy basement, so I appreciate craftsmanship and we currently have other amish furniture pieces in our house - its becoming harder and harder to find quality solid wood furniture these days. I have no problem spending the premium that solid wood furniture warrants. Myself being a woodworker, I probably pick up on things that the average person would not (or may not even care about). We paid, what I would consider, to be a high end price for a living room set - 1 coffee table, 3 end tables, and a 72" TV stand. When we got the pieces, I noticed there were pocket holes all over the place, with some screws exposed and a lot of chipout. I was extremely disappointed, I use pocket screws in some of my very low end projects, such as shop furniture or plywood cabinets. I have made some smaller nice pieces around the house and I would never consider using such low end joinery in nicer wood projects, let alone a $6k living room set (price before shipping, taxes, and guardsman protection)! In my opinion, a "craftsman" making very expensive living room furniture should be using higher quality joinery that is both stronger, and more professional. If you dont know what pocket screws are, google them and watch all the "amateur youtube woodworkers" who use them for lower level projects. This shouldnt be the joinery used on a $6k set (price not including tax and shipping or guardsman protection). Pocket holes have their place and are a much faster form of joinery, but are usually reserved for cabinets or other interior areas or can be filled/covered. I immediately sent a polite email to the store manager after receiving the set with photos. She never responded. A few weeks after the email I did receive a call from someone who left a message and was in operations but I was on vacation. I called that person back and left a message and have not received a return call. I emailed the store manager again, and still no response. As of the date of this review, it has been 7 weeks with no reply. So I feel I have been more than patient and have given them ample time to contact me back or reply to my emails. I started to google the set that I bought to see if others complained about the same thing. Thats when I started to notice other online amish furniture places selling the same set, at significantly lower cost than I paid. I finally found the original maker of my set, but it seems that there are a few amish "craftsman" shops which have a line of furniture they build, and then retail fronts and online stores sell their furniture. I was told by the salesperson that I was buying at the biggest discount the craftsman offered all throughout the year, which I believed at the time, but considering I found other online places and stores selling the same custom ordered pieces for significantly lower, I think I got sold a fib by a good salesperson. Overall, I paid mercedes benz pricing for a toyota corolla. I will likely continue to buy amish or solid wood furniture, but I now know that not all amish "craftsman" are equal and use lower end woodworker joinery in areas where my past amish furniture did not, so I will be sure to look for pocket screws and get clarification on the expectations for my pieces before placing any future orders. The photos attached show the exposed screws and wood tearout all my pieces suffered from. This is what I would expect from Wayfair/IKEA at 25% the price I paid. Before you buy anything from Gish's, google the set and compare pricing with the other dozen sellers who seem to sell the same exact set, with the same exact stain options, with the same exact wood options from the same exact "craftsmen". Some buyers may be perfectly fine with pocket screw construction, exposed screws, and wood tearout - I was not.

I hadn't done so, but after calling, the owner gladly let me in. The proprietor is an engineer who decided to research beds to help his and his wife's back issues. He then decided to start a small company to sell the beds. He specializes in organic latex bedding that you can built to your own softness/support liking. The beds are high end, and are made by a Virginia company called Savvy Rest. I was pleased with his knowledge of his mattresses. Although I didn't make a purchase, I would recommend checking his store out if you are looking for an organic latex mattress in the area.
