Initially it brought back some good memories and a hope that the food would be as good. As we walked in and were seated though, we were put in a narrow back room with no windows and an old noisy A/C unit. Somewhat claustrophobic. The table itself was sticky, and had a wire bread basket that had two small ramekins with pesto in one, and what we were told was a tomato bruschetta in the other. The tomatoes looked old from the refrigerator with a hazy gray sheen. When bread finally came, it was like a supermarket bread that was heated in the oven, but cold, so it seamed stale. Got up the nerve to try the bruschetta which was overpowered with parmesan. The pesto was overpowered with garlic and there was only one pignoli nut visible in the dish. The server was a very nice young woman. Polite, attentive. They had the policy of waiting until everyone was ready to place a full order with appetizers and mains which was fine, but it took about 45 minutes before the appetizers came out. The appetizers I tasted were good. A caprese salad with olive oil, pesto and a balsamic reduction. Fried Calamari cut in large pieces, but cooked tender. Then came the mains. My meat lasagna was dry on the inside with little or no sauce. It tasted as if it had been frozen previously, The ladle of sauce was not enough to freshen it up, and the cheese on top was burned. My younger son got gnocchi with pesto that arrived looking more like a pesto soup swimming with oil. I lived in NY for 60 years, worked ten years in restaurants through high school and college, and married into an italian family. I've never seen pesto like this. The gnocchi itself was dense and chewy. Not soft and pillowy like it should have been. My wife had abgel hair pasta with shrimp in a fresh tomato sauce. This they got somewhat right. The shrimp was actually cooked just right, the sauce was good, but still a little heavy on parmesan cheese, and some of the pasta was stuck together, so it didn't cook properly.. Overall, it was very disappointing and overpriced for what came out of the kitchen. Definitely will not be going back. As far as the 5 star reviews go, maybe we went on a night that was too busy for the kitchen, or maybe these were friends and family trying to help out and prop up a mediocre experience. Our local Pizzaria does better and for much less $$$.

The service was amazing. One of my friends has a shellfish allergy, and they were extremely careful to avoid any cross-contamination. The salad came and was very tasty with just the right amount of dressing and cheese. The pizza was delicious as well. Then the bill came and I saw that we were charged $3.50 for the bread and there was no mention of a charge for bread on the menu. Overall quite disappointing!
