Really was not a fan. The service was awful and the menu just left a lot to be desired. We actually planned on having dinner but ending only eating and appetizer and ordering drinks. The wait staff seemed friendly, although unfortunately inattentive so that was annoying.

In the actuality of things, this is a 3.5-star review. As you guys can see in the other reviews, the food is not amazingly interesting, but it is tasty enough. The salmon tartare is terrible, and the breakfasts are simple, yet filling. The eggs benedicts are served with french toast instead of the usual English muffin. That said, the drinks are very decently priced, the food is VERY inexpensive, and the staff is amazingly friendly. Plus the greatest thing with this place is they don't judge you if you order a beer for breakfast, how amazing is that?

Really worth the trip. Went with family for a nice, light and delightful breakfast! Really recommend their smoothie and egg Benedict. For the price, you can't go wrong :) I will make sure to try supper or lunch.

Tasty meals for 5$! This concept is not necessarily new in Montreal but it was well executed here. I had the pasta with smoked salmon and was surprised by how flavorful it was. The portions are smaller but still filling enough. I recommend getting two dishes if you're very hungry. I didn't have a cocktail and I was disappointed to see that my simple lemonade cost 5$... Still, overall it's a lovely place to grab drinks and some cheap eats.

The water doesn't taste good but the Béné and the omelette are both beyond expectation. The overall experience is quite good too! Waitresses treated us well with a big smile and they're also willing to bear with my poor French. We were a group of 6 people. My friends and I ordered SANTÉ, OMELETTE, BRUNCH, and BÉNÉ. They were all satisfied with their meal. The price is not expensive as well, my BÉNÉ cost 7 CAD pretax and I spent 10 CAD in the end, tax and tips included. One of my friend had the BRUNCH - Grilled Cheese (confit de canard, œuf, etc). A little heads-up here: if you ordered the $4.9 menu for midi, then you MUST order a drink rather than settle with water. Me and my friends think that's not a pretty good deal so we all didn't order the $4.9 menu.

I went there a couple of times, it is a very cute little restaurant with food of $5 and you must order a drink. Food is pretty decent and staffs are nice too! Menu changes everywhile or so. Good when you just want to chill and have a small meal or want to eat two different dishes. :)

    Mac and cheese

Tried this place out, took the fried Brie and the Mac and cheese. I enjoyed the Mac it was well balanced with the sharpness and richness of all the cheeses, the brie was okay but nothing to write home about. The star here are the drinks, they have a wide variety of mason jars and get this, when you buy a drink your meal costs you under 5 bucks... Pretty sweet deal :)

Good food, feels like a bar tho... I think there's something wrong with how the seats are arranged but that's just my opinion

Service was slow, food took an hour to come, even the soda took 15minutes to come and we were right next to the bar. Would not come back.

The poached eggs are always hard cooked, and the waitresses argue with you when you don't like where they sit you.

That was annoying because we had to wait a long time to order for no reason. The menu is online and their website doesn't have an English option. Very inconvenient and not tourist friendly. Minus one star for an all around poor experience ordering. The host/waiter was drying glasses at the bar and kept blowing into them to get water droplets out so minus one star for that. So gross. The food came out separately even though we ordered at the same time and made it clear one dish was for one of us and one was for the other. That meant that one of us was eating while the other waited because the food was going to get cold. Minus another star for splitting the order by a full 10 minutes. This place has a lot of potential. The flavor of the nigiri was great, but the portion size was amuse-bouche and not tapas. To charge $15 for 1/2 oz of beef and 5 cents worth do rice is highway robbery. The shishito peppers were great, all 4 of them. Most of the dish is peas which are used as filler. Again, charging $15 for about $2 worth of ingredients is ridiculous ESPECIALLY since the flavor of that dish wasn't anything spectacular. If you want less expensive shishito peppers with better flavor AND a great view, head over to Terasse Nelligan. Bottom line, I wanted to love this place when I walked in, but left underwhelmed and feeling ripped off having spent $40 for two tapas plates.

I'm a fan of cocktail bars, and after reading up on this spot I made it my intention to check it out. It just so happened that it was a short walk from my hotel, so we decided to check it out one night before heading to dinner. The Cloakroom is a speakeasy, nestled behind a hidden door in a men's clothing shop. In the line of being a speakeasy, the space is small - there are only 24 seats but since we got there right at opening we were seated right away. The space is dark and intimate, with the bottles of liquor lit up behind the bar providing an attractive focal point. One of the more unique features of the bar is that there's no menu; we told our server the types of liquors we wanted along with the flavor notes and they crafted a cocktail based on our tastes. We ultimately had two rounds; my first drink was vodka-based and fruity, while I went with something gin-based and dryer. Both were very good - there's little fanfare with presentation; the bartenders let the drinks speak for themselves. Service was great; due to the setup, each patron is given extra attention which really highlighted the experience. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at The Cloakroom Bar. This was definitely a unique experience with excellent curated drinks. I would definitely return the next time I'm in Montreal.
