My companion isn't a meat eater and on a previous work trip, a colleague brought him here. I have been here once before, before Yelp. I don't recall my experience being distasteful, so, here we are again :-)
We came on a chilly Friday evening around 6-6:15 as we were downtown shopping and walking and we were getting hungry. It was a spur of the moment decision and for us, a good one :-)
On this evening, they featured a fixed menu for 41 chf. The meal consisted of Red Beet Carpaccio with alfalfa sprouts and fresh cheese, Mushroom Risotto topped with steamed Cauliflower and for dessert, Vermicelli (chestnut cream made into strands of vermicelli with whipped cream and meringue base).
The Carpaccio was a really pleasant surprise as it is rare that I have beets since they aren't served often ANYWHERE. It was well seasoned and the sprouts provided a nice fresh complement as did the cheese. The mushroom risotto was a very generous helping and very flavourful...though they could have skipped the cauliflower...I ate them and enjoyed them in the end ;-) we also got a small basket of hom made bread which was good. The dessert was very nice, especially if you like chestnut cream (creme de marron). In all, I left happily full and satisfied.
It is a small place and yes, there is also a small staff, however, you can be assured that everything is prepared "al momento" as it is a small operation despite its location at the beginning of the historic (and affluent) old part of the city.
I would like to give it a 3.5 as it very much what you see, an unpretentious spot that serves vegetarian comfort food....at least based on my experience given the time of year I went (January). read more
