A very simple and wholesome concept, "not guilty" breeds on the fact in the current environment - people are conscientious more than ever about the whole process of where food came from and what is going into your bodies. You are what you eat, you know?
Conveniently located in front of the Stauffacher tram stop (a major location), they hit the key points in their offering: convenience, fast, knowing where the food comes from (they source locally whenever possible), and making fresh food right on the spot. In fact, as this is very vegetarian friendly (given it's offering of salads and vegetarian/fruit juices), I can see this as a good spot for vegetarians to eat good, fast and healthy food.
Notable points:
- For those who like to eat a variety of items and seek deals: order the small soup and small salad combo that comes with a drink! It's under CHF 20 and it's a good deal! It's not advertised on their website nor on their takeaway menu so you might miss it - it's only shown on the left hand side of the in store menu.
- Freshly made (on the spot, in your face) vegetable/fruit juice is available. You grab the canisters with the freshly chopped up concoction of vegetables/juice - and then they juice it for you. I love this concept, b/c there are plenty of restaurants that claim they have home made juice - but then you realize do you really want to be drinking home made juice that could have been sitting there for a few days while being charged a surplus? I'm a big freshly made juice fan, so this is a plus for me.
- They also make a fresh soup of the day that you'd have to ask about.
- There are a variety of salads, with the vegetables and major topping (beef, shrimp, salmon or cheese-veggie) under a different name.
- You can add toppings, I added a dash of avocado to my Malaysian beef salad and it was only CHF1! Very reasonable. But I don't know why they named it Malaysian beef. If I was blindfolded and ate the beef, I wouldn't say "oh that's some good old Malaysian beef!".
- Freshly hot chili chopped up garnish available - I added a dash over my salad to give it a little spice.
- Bread that comes with soup or salad is very soft (fresh). It's wheat, so even better.
- Go for the large! It's only a few francs more and it's a salad anyway...
- Seating for dining in is ok, it's not fine dining but the business concept was made for something fast and convenient. I suspect many people also take their food to go esp those on lunch breaks or commuting home from work.
- It's run by a partner who are friends from university, so it has a nice story. They currently have four locations, one of which is not in Switzerland but in Brazil (what, that wasn't obvious?).
- It's right across from Metropol (movies), so it's a good option for a quick bite before/after a movie.
I knocked off a half a star or so, b/c whilst I understand the fast concept, I feel this location could do more w their ambiance given it does focus on the eat in crowd. Maybe it'll get an upgrade in future... But the food and service offering itself is a good 4.5-5 stars... reasonably priced, good combo offer, love the focus on locally sourced producers, love the freshly squeezed made in your face/on the spot juice. Way to go!!! read more
