Hm, heard many good things about that place, so I finally got to try it because our friends had the voucher book. I actually felt like having a juice, but when I saw the pre cut vegetables in the jars I refused. The vegetables looked like already from days ago- not fresh anymore. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich.. It was nothing special at all and didn't really looked like they care about their display. Same for the noodle salads of our friends. Hm.. And the price range? Upper class for a self serving restaurant. I might give it another chance at some point. The background music was nice and the place is bright and clean.

I read their "Spring Specials" Board and saw the Karotten Suppe and decided to sit for a spell and enjoy a bowl of one of my favorite soups. As the name suggests, Zoup - they sorta specialize in soups I suppose, (as well as other things I'm sure) with seasonal offerings/variations. I initially wanted carrot and ginger but I opted for the carrot-mango-orange variant. What's cool is that they offered to add some fresh ginger in as well. Win! Win!! In addition to my soup, I also ordered a Panache which is just a beer with a lime soda topper that's pretty refreshing. The staff was very courteous and helpful as well as linguistically patient with me as we both tried to communicate with one another. The ambiance is traditional Cafe European with a nice airy seating area to people watch without feeling like people are on top of you. So, if you are in Zurich and a soup person then this is the place for you.

Unless, you walk in during odd hours. Swiss food is not popular for being tasty and having bold flavors. Unless you intend to just eat cheese and chocolate, Swiss food is rather forgettable. Highly influenced by German cuisine, expect things like wienerschnitzel, bratwurst, pork shank, etc. Sausage with Potato Saiad: All their sausage is served with potato salad but you can sub it out with French fries or rosti. The sausage was nice. The potato salad was surprisingly good. 4/5 Cordon Bleu: You get a choice between veal and pork. I chose pork. The description on their menu says "tender pork escalope, filled with ham and SPICY Gruyère cheese, fried crispy". There was no spice at all. LOL. The ham was probably 2 thin slices. There are other Swiss restaurants in Zurich that makes better cordon Bleu. 3/5 The service was quite slow. We waited for our server to come over. They sent the only English-speaking server to handle like 7 tables. It's definitely a one and done. Come here for the vibes, not for the food.

As it was our first time eating raclette, we asked our server to walk us through the menu. Lily was exceedingly helpful in explaining the differences in cheeses and their flavors, and she was also very attentive and checked in on us throughout the meal. I noticed that her welcoming demeanor was also shared by her colleagues who were waiting on the other tables around us. My family took Lily up on her recommendations, and we ordering one Klara and one Willi, each with a side of sausages, as well as one original tarte flambé and one vegi tarte flambée. The food was all very delicious!! My personal highlights from the meal were the sausage dipped in the Willi cheese along with the onions and potatoes that were served with the dish. The tartes also had very thin, yummy crusts topped with raclette cheese. The side of pickles provided a tangy contrast to the rest of the meal which I liked. We ended our meal with a warm chocolate cake and lemon sorbet. I'm not really one for alcohol, so I found the vodka in the sorbet to be a bit too strong for me. However, the chocolate cake with the jam and vanilla ice cream was very good and had just the right amount of chewiness. I wish that I could replace my local Cheesecake Factory with a Raclette Factory instead so that I could enjoy Swiss cheese melted over bread, sausages, and potatoes all the time. Oh well, perhaps it's just another excuse to visit Switzerland again one day :)

After seeing bun rieu (crab noodle soup) on the menu, I was excited as it's one of my favorite noodle soups! Being in the middle of Europe, I went in with low expectations. The toppings and accompanied veggies and herbs were lacking, but I'd expected it. What I was not expecting was how authentic the flavors were! The broth had that crab and shrimp paste flavors and they even had the authentic soft and creamy crab paste which not too many restaurants get it right. My husband had the bun bo hue, the same dish he had at the other restaurant, Saigon, from 2 nights earlier. He preferred the other restaurant's BBH over at SG. I liked the flavor of the broth at Pho Mai better, but the toppings were better at SG's. Instead of beef shank, Pho Mai used rare beef steak (typically used for rare stead pho). Overall the flavors for both dishes were well done. If they'd just put a little more effort in putting in more toppings (especially for the BBH as it always come with multiple proteins aside from beef slices) it would take this restaurant to another level. But I can understand why they'd cut corners as their menu is quite extensive with many dishes and it seems they're also short-staffed.

Tantanmen had sesame oil flavors and the shoyu broth was very light but a bit bland for me so I added the extra sauces they had on the table. The noodles definitely tasted great and was authentic. This ramen place is a bit on the pricier side and my friend said the prices were noticable raised but she loves this place so much, it didn't bother her. There are public bathrooms downstairs that they keep taken care of. As soon as you sit, they have clear separating glasses between tables which feels very sanitary, I love it. The ramen served is very aesthetic. I love the way they write their slogan on the nori. My favorite part is that they give you a bib to wear which was easy to put on. Both my friend and I definitely needed it because we both had soup spills on our bibs haha service was nice and they have wifi as well. This place seems to get packed very easily!

Service was not overly friendly but efficient. They speak English, German and Vietnamese (maybe more but that's all I heard). We ordered the beef pho and chicken pho, and split the spring rolls which came with four small rolls. The pho was generously sized and I preferred the beef broth over the chicken broth. They automatically give you a small dipping bowl with half Sriracha and half hoisin sauce for your pho meat, which I've never seen before. Toppings (bean sprouts, herbs) came in the bowl instead of on the side as well. Flavor was not exactly what I'm used to in the US but was good enough for what we wanted. Some fish sauce on the table would have been nice, although they did have soy sauce and chili oil. My main issue was the price. 25 francs for a bowl of pho is probably reasonable for Zurich but the most expensive bowl of pho I've ever had. They also charge one franc per cup of tap water which is a bit much in my opinion. Next time I'll just bring my reusable water bottle.
