Did a bit of driving from Orlando and stopped in Mobile for the evening (heading home to SoCal). The little one picked something outta Yelp! and we ended up at the Pot Au Pho. The area looks like an older strip mall that's 60% occupied. Some standing structure in the back of the main restaurant. Easy parking, great AC, pleasant greeting and service. We ordered a variety of Pho, dry noodles w/ BBQ pork, and a BBQ pork rice dish. The food looked & tasted great, accompanying veggies were fresh, lemon wedges were juicy, and the Pho soup base was pleasing. Even the cut of beef used was to our liking. Would have been an easy 5 *s, but my daughter commented her BBQ pork could have been cooked more crispy & I didn't particularly like the spongy seating in the booth. This is my favorite place in Mobile for Pho. I always order the chicken noodle pho or the Bun Cha Gio which is a rice vermicelli salad with fried egg rolls on top. Their egg rolls are not thick like at a Chinese restaurant. They are thin and crispy and perfect. They also have delicious Summer rolls. But they call them spring rolls, I think. They are very good with a light peanutty sauce. Check this place out and don't let the exterior of the restaurant deter you. read more

I recently relocated to the Mobile area from NYC. My sons grandmother is full blooded Vietnamese. Needless to say, I know my way around a bowl of pho. That being said, I fail to understand many if not all of the negative and quite frankly some vicious reviews of this place. My family and I were introduced to Pot Au Pho by my sister-in-law who comes here regularly. While we haven't tried too many different dishes, we love the Pho, spring rolls, egg rolls, atmosphere and service enough that it earns 5 stars from us. My wife and 14yo son enjoy the P10 (Pho w. chicken), my 12yo son enjoys the P11 (Pho w. shrimp) and I enjoy the Pho with rare steak. Now of course maybe for Pho experts this might not be the best pho ever it really good and specially with this kind of weather I did appreciate that they serve you good and plenty the egg rolls were on point and hot just the way I like them also got me some Thai Tea to drink and will definitely recommend specially if you are in the mood for pho the other dishes that they have look good as well so I might come back soon and hopefully this time they totally blow me away with good food and even better customer service. This is probably one of the best Vietnamese restaurant that I have ever been to. And I've been to ALOT, from different cities. First of all the service is VERY fast. As soon as you sit down, they'll ask for drinks and bring you the menu. We got an appetizer and it came about 2 minutes after we ordered it. Then our actual meal came in within 5 minutes after the appetizer. The food portion is ALOT. It was so much that I struggled to finish it. They give a lot of meat which is always great. I've been visiting Pot Au Pho at least once a week for almost a year now. I just realized I hadn't written a review for it, so time to correct that oversight! Pot Au Pho is a great place for lunch or dinner. Conveniently located between Airport and Cottage Hill on Azalea, it's just minutes from my office and apartment. The parking lot is ample, though it can fill up around the noon - 1pm lunch rush. The restaurant itself has a lot of seating, with several larger tables in the bar area and near the front windows in the dining room, capable of accommodating 6 or more people. Half the dining room is booths and half tables. There are TVs in the bar and the back of the dining room so if you're dining alone you can keep yourself entertained. The pho itself is great. I've had pho in a half dozen restaurants in the past couple of years and I keep coming back to Pot Au Pho. They have a medium and large size (as well as a child's portion) and I find the medium is perfect for lunch, and with the large I'd have some to take home. The broth is very flavorful, with the right amount of aromatics, and the sprouts, limes, and jalapenos are always fresh. The basil is usually fresh as well, though on occasion it's looked like it had seen better days. I usually get the P2 - rare steak or P10 - chicken pho. They are accommodating with any requests for extra meat or less noodles depending on how good or bad I feel like being on my diet on any given day. The chicken is large chunks of white meat, nothing shredded or cubed from unidentifiable portions of the bird. The waitstaff are all friendly and polite. I would not say they're outgoing, but have never failed in smiling or helping with menu suggestions any time I or my friends and coworkers have eaten here. My friends usually order the grilled pork vermicelli bowl, fried rice, and beef short rib combinations, and all seem to enjoy their meals. While I've tried them all, I stick with the pho. I also recommend the spring rolls which are light and filling and the fried egg rolls which are very flavorful. read more

I'm so excited that there's a new Vietnamese restaurant in town, and it's close to home. I miss my big bowls of pho. I haven't been too happy with the other options in the area. Yen has good pho but the portions are disappointing and expensive. Pho88 is just not good. I almost always go for the large bowl with everything while in a Vietnamese restaurant. Therefore that's all I'll be talking about. The bowl size was just about right. Not too small - I'm not sure if there's such a thing as too big - I haven't seen one yet. The price was right as well. After tip, you'll be around $10-11 for just the bowl of soup (I only drink water). The food is still excellent but they really need to do something about their policy of ignoring the clients after they have served them. I had some time today so I waited 25 min after I pre bussed my table. I cleaned it, stacked the dishes, put my cup (not refilled once) upside down in the soup bowl and pushed everything far away from me. I then waited. After 25 min, no one came by. I tried to wave people over and no one came. I finally tracked down someone, gave them a piece of my mind on their service. Don't think he understood most of it but hopefully, he got the idea.
