I took my poster to a handful of these places and no one really blew me away like John and Poster Mountain did.

Subject: Response to Your False Statements & Continued Demand for Compensation for Damage to My…read moreJohn Leslie Breck Painting Mr. Haskins, I am writing in direct response to your recent false statements regarding the severe damage caused to my John Leslie Breck (1860-1899) painting by your conservator, Virginia Pannizzon, in February 2022 at Fine Art Conservation Laboratories (FACL). Your attempt to deflect responsibility and dismiss my well-documented concerns as "false authentication" is both unprofessional and demonstrably untrue. First and foremost, neither you, Virginia Pannizzon, nor anyone at FACL are recognized experts on John Leslie Breck or his works. You are in no position to declare my painting or its signature "fake," particularly when Bonhams Los Angeles--one of the most reputable auction houses--had already placed an initial auction estimate on my painting before it was brought to your facility. Bonhams' willingness to assign an estimate indicates that they considered the painting to be authentic. However, due to the irreversible damage inflicted upon my painting by your conservator, Bonhams and other auction houses will now likely refuse to list the work. Furthermore, you state that my painting was "not damaged at all," yet I have photographic before and after proof documenting the drastic alterations made to the painting under Virginia Pannizzon's care. These include: 1. Significant paint loss on the right side of the painting, particularly in the dark tree canopy and vegetation, which was stripped away due to Virginia's careless, heavy-handed varnish removal process. 2. Destruction of the artist's original signature and date, which were nearly obliterated. The crude and unethical attempt to repaint the signature is inaccurate in both form and color, making the damage even more apparent. 3. A condition report from Virginia herself, in which she acknowledges that damage occurred under her care. I have this document in my possession, further proving that you are knowingly providing false information in your statements. Despite the overwhelming evidence of your facility's negligence, you continue to evade responsibility and even go so far as to call me delusional. This is not only insulting but highlights your complete lack of professionalism, accountability and contempt for your client for calling out your very poor business practices. It is disgraceful that your company refuses to disclose its insurance provider, forcing me to take legal action to obtain this information. Your employee, Gina, has outright stated that I must hire a lawyer to determine your insurance carrier, further demonstrating FACL's hubris and refusal to be held accountable for its reckless art conservation practices. Given the extensive evidence I have provided, I once again demand full financial compensation for the irreversible damage caused to my painting. If you continue to deny responsibility, I will escalate this matter through legal channels, insurance claims, and more public awareness, ensuring that your unethical business practices are exposed. I expect a formal written response addressing this matter by March 21, 2025. Failure to do so will confirm your unwillingness to engage in a professional resolution, and I will pursue all necessary legal actions against Fine Art Conservation Laboratories, Inc.
