Housed at the…read moreCircle City Industrial Complex (next to Centerpoint Brewing), Soundspace provides an outlet for aspiring musicians to hone their skills and connect with the local music community. The location itself has rehearsal spaces and recording studios available for use by members. Through open houses and mixer events, Soundspace strives to create connections for musicial collaboration and learning experiences. From what I understand, Soundspace uses a subscription model to provide services to its members. You can join as a monthly user to connect with others through exclusive events. If you need rehearsal or recording studio time, you can book time at the space for your practice and mixing needs. I am glad to see to see an unique venture like Soundspace here in Indy. In addition, there are plans to expand into a much bigger venue on the south end of the building. Hopefully through these efforts we can continue to expand the music scene in the city.

When you first walk in, you are in the theater room and you see a drum set in the corner. I assume artists can come in to rehearse and fine tune their music. As you walk toward the back, there is a larger studio space ideal for photo shoots or video production. The studio can also simply be a event space equipped with A/V capabilities. I visited The Box for a workshop, and it turned out they were also hosting an art show the next night. That goes to show the space can be adapted for different purposes. Located near the 16 Tech/Riverside neighborhood, the area itself is kind of nondescript but you will be surprised what you find inside The Box.
