I love Poshy Paws and my Dog Everest loves Poshy paws. They have always done an amazing job on her and she gets so excited when we pull into the parking lot. I was very nervous the first time as Rough collies are becoming rare and finding a groomer that knows how to groom them is also becoming rare. But any worry was cast away when I picked her up. They made her look even more stunning than I thought possible. Everyone I have recommended them too also shares my opinion. They do a great job and have always made my dog feel safe in their care. Decent grooming experience buuuut my dog had razor burn on its genitalia/groin area and was very uncomfortable for several days after. Also had to trim up some uneven sections and tufts that were still present not that big of a deal if the price had been reasonable. It was $115!!! Which is INSANE for a small dog. It should be more like $65-75. Won't be returning. read more

TL:DR Poshy Paws hurt my dog, and was extremely rude to me. Don't go there! Stanford and Anakin had the groom from Hell at Poshy Paws last week. The owner groomed stan herself. Honestly Stan's haircut wasn't bad, but issues came about a week later when Stan started licking his pen15 obsessively. Upon further inspection I saw what looked like the beginning of an infection and that he had completely licked the area raw. Inoticed that the hair just on that one area was much shorter than the rest of the sanitary area. It was very likely shaved nearly bald and he only started licking now because the hair was starting to grow back and get itchy. I told the owner what I found and that I was concerned about possible infection. She was instantly defensive and treated me like a child, interrupting me etc. She claimed they only use a 10 blade on the sanitary area, but if that were true, why was the tip of his "part" so much shorter than the rest of his sanitary area? Also Stan has never had this issue before. She tried to say that the irritation was because he has a very bad skin problem. My dog has dry skin. Many dogs do. She then tried to tell me that he was extremely matted and his "part" was, and I quote, "gunky." Stanford's fur has a tendency to get tangles or teeny mats that easily can be cut off, but not down to the skin. The gunk on the other hand... yeah he gets a little crusty down there. So I asked her why didn't she clean the gunk first before SHAVING IT OFF OF HIS PENIS and she said they never clean the dogs until all mats are removed. She admitted to shaving the "mat" off of that area before cleaning it so she most likely had to shave close to the skin to get all the crusties off which would explain the shorter hair and the clipper burn/irritation. Eventually she looks at me and (rudely) asks why I'm there and what I want. I told her that I want to continue using their services, but I think I'm owed my next groom free. She says "I am NOT grooming your dog for free" so I said okay and walked out. She then blocked me on Facebook so I couldnt leave a review there, and posted a very unprofessional post about the situation and another local business On top of this all, they didnt(or barely) trimmed his nails and didn't pluck/shave his ears as I asked read more

Changed my appointment without telling me and then tried to charge a $20 no show fee. The worker scheduled me for a spot that wasn't actually open, changed it after the fact and I didn't realize until I received a text saying I no showed and will be charged. Instead of owning up to the mistake they blamed me even after sending a voicemail of the worker admitting they made a mistake. I can't speak on the grooming but customer service sucks, take your animals elsewhere. read more

This place was recommended to us by a local vet clinic when we needed a new groomer. I was apprehensive choosing a new groomer because pet safety is my primary concern. Poshy Paws didn't have a page, and they're vet recommended so I gave them a try. It's only a couple minutes off JBER. The shop is clean and has pink curtains/lights in the windows. I immediately knew my dog would be in good hands. You make an appointment over the phone and bring in (or email) your vaccine record. I took my Great Pyrenees in yesterday to be bathed and groomed after her very long car trip up here. Her back legs were kinda matted and she needed to be cleaned up. Poshy Paws did a great job on her. She feels softer and looks more put together. It was $95 for her weight category, which is competitive pricing for Anchorage. I also love that they don't kennel the animals. They take only a couple pets at a time and keep them in a darling play area while dogs wait for their human. So upset. yes the workers were very kind but I asked for a TRIM and not to be shaved. I have a golden retriever and they have longer hair. when I picked her up all her fluff and feathers were gone and her stomach was shaved. this is NOT a trim. The staff said that here in Alaska that a trim here (at all groomer) means a super short cut. I'm sorry but that is BS. Every other groomer I have been to who does a trim/tidy trim cleans up their intimate part and paws. Her fur looks like it was butchered and she was still damp. I will not come back here again. I could have done a better job at home (and have when everything was closed during Covid). I would continue to do this but with working full time that is impossible. read more

Very disappointed this place can't take feedback. Just like humans going to a new hair stylist, you go in and tell them what you want. Maybe it isn't perfect the first time but you figure next time it will get better. I thought it was going to be a joint effort between the customer and the groomer. I even brought a picture of my dogs on how I'd like them to be groomed. I have poodles so I thought I'd give them some time. They couldn't duplicate the cut after 6 months. The bottom line is these guys are still too inexperienced. When I went in today, I was told by the groomer that the owner told her to tell me to go somewhere else. Also, the last time they charged me more because they told me 2 of my dogs tried to bite while being groomed. I've never had this problem before. My dogs are reacting to their poor dog grooming and handling experience. They don't know how to take feedback to improve and seems like they're not interested in getting better. Poshy Paws groomers need to get more advanced grooming training. If all you need is a dog bath then you'll be good but look elsewhere if you've got poodles or need a nice cut. read more

First time there. I have an Australian Labradoodle. I explained what I wanted. Not friendly or welcoming at all to me or my dog. Got her back with a totally lopsided topknot. I called the next morning. Took her in so she could be trimmed up. Groomer told me it was the dogs fault, she wouldn't hold her head straight. Never had this trouble at a groomer before. Trim job was worse than the cut. Should have done it myself but felt for the price they should fix it. We won't go back. Lesson learned. Terrible attitudes and customer service. read more

We have been taking our dogs here for a year and have been getting they're fur cut by the same girl, makayla. No issues at all with her. This last time our Stanford was cut by someone different, the owner. After about a week the fur around his male part had gotten so irritated that it may be infected from him licking it. Upon further inspection there is no way possible that the way they shaved his male part is. The same way they shaved our other dogs male part. The grow out length is not the same, she most likely shaved it bald. And now that it's growing back, it's irritated. When confronted on this issue, she tried to shift the blame on anyone and everyone other than herself. To include us for not brushing him enough, he is brushed 2-3 times a week. His board and train for keeping him in a kennel all day, he is out all day training. And she publicly slandered a new locally owned business by saying the diapers they wear there caused it. He has not been to this business yet, he's been I'm training since it opened. Basically refusing to accept any responsibility at all and treated my wife like a child by speaking over her and not letting her get a word out. Well at the very least you lost 2 dogs that need to be groomed at least every 4-8 weeks. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL. read more

I have a 3 yr old Aussiedoodle who is groomed every 8 weeks and has been groomed there twice. The first 2 experiences were great so we scheduled our next appointment before leaving the salon. Our last appt was Dec 21st and this appt was supposed to be Feb 9th at 3pm. Upon my arrival the desk attendant was defensive and rude stating my appt was at 2 and they would never groom a dog at 3 and can't accommodate me today. Ok no problem, mistakes happen. I never had an appointment card and I probably added the wrong time to my calendar. We rescheduled for Thursday at 11am. I show up and am met with the same woman who again is defensive and rude saying "oh no your not scheduled today." We can't do that we are so busy. She says we scheduled you for March 18th. Now this generally wouldn't be a problem because again mistakes happen but the way she spoke like I am solely responsible and took no time to explain the situation is why I won't recommend them. They did not give me an appt card and there was no reminder, no follow up or call when we missed for our first appt. It's disappointing because they do great work and my pup is always so happy when we leave. read more
