Met Candice at an event and she hosted an event for us! Love her spirit and personality and her helpers are so freakin cute! The team was sun's out buns out and I chose a hamburger. I was nervous at 1st but she reassured me she traced everything out. I not only got brave, I got creative! Loved every minute of it. They were constantly checking in to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. Very attentive! Hoping to have her for an event and highly recommend!

I was recently at an event where we were surprised with a Posh Paint activity... Hotdogs and hamburgers for "suns out buns out"! Thankfully it was an easy painting (I'm horrible with art lol). Candace and her crew were wonderful and helpful. I had a lot of fun painting my hotdog and even though it looked like a kindergartner painted it, they were super sweet and encouraging. Definitely keep Posh Paint in mind for parties!

Candace designed 34 of these for my 35th AKA Gamma Theta line reunion weekend in Orlando. We had a paint & sip brunch.

Really, you didn't know this the day before. Then to add insult to injury you off 10% off a future class. I could find a better deal than that in the internet and it doesn't even pay for my gas to get to the canceled event. You can be sure I'll never sin up for another event by PaintNite with this lack of consideration

With my boyfriend, we signed up to paint a panda (moderate level) with Jessica Behm. I used to take art classes when I was young, but that was probably 10 years ago. On the other hand, my boyfriend isn't super artsy and painting is not something that he would ever do for fun on his own. But Jess was super easy to follow and was great with those who needed a little extra help on a step. We both came away from the two hour experience having had a great time and wanting to sign up again. They provide all the art materials and a smock, but it's still recommended to wear clothing that you don't get paint on (wasn't an issue for me but good to be on the safe side). My boyfriend and I ate dinner before and just ordered drinks when we were there. Ours was held at Wood-n-Tap in Hartford, and even though it was past 7:00, they still had a discounted Happy Hour menu that we could order from, which was great. (We got two delicious raspberry lemonades for $4 each.) There were some people who ordered appetizers with their drinks, but I'd highly recommend just eating dinner before, because you're going to want to focus on painting. Like another reviewer said, I would suggest getting there early and picking somewhere to sit that has an easy view of where the artist will be painting. Jess was great about painting a step and then walking around with her canvas, but it's just easier to reference if you're not always craning your neck to see. I love that Jess had a camera, and she went around taking pictures of people in the process of painting and of the end result. We were told the pictures would be uploaded onto Facebook later, and that we could look for them and tag ourselves. I think this company uses social media in a super effective way. I would say in signing up and choosing the level of difficulty for the painting that if you're not very good at art and want something decent-looking with minimal effort that you should go with the paintings that are marked "easy." "Moderate" for me was a little challenging, and I had to focus to make my painting look the way I wanted it to, but I'm also a perfectionist. They also add more painting events to the website throughout the month, so if you don't see something you like, definitely check back. On the same note, if you see something you like, buy your tickets early because they do sell fast. I'm so excited to do this again next month!

A lot of menu items out of stock and took a while to receive food/drinks as only 1 person serving drinks/working food. Nevertheless, very nice and accommodating staff. Felt welcomed walking in and they greet you right away. Space is clean and an artsy vibe. They have art and sticker for sale too. Instructions were kinda quicker than what I'd hope for, giving more time to work on each portion would be a minor critique but given the time slot it's under stable there are timing restraints. There's a parking garage for cheap and very walkable to Muse. Cute area with shops and dining for a day trip date. Saw Barnes & noble, Cheesecake Factory, candy shop and other restaurants around.

You can order whatever you want to drink, snacks, food, and they had some really good popcorn! The best part, of course, was the painting. Jen was our instructor - great energy, patient, and clearly good at this job. I have absolutely zero artistic ability and I had no idea how to make any of this work, but she made it fun, accessible, offered one-on-one feedback if you wanted it, or left you alone if you wanted to be left alone. Somehow, I came out of this with a painting that no one can believe I made. Haha. Props to Jen.

We all planned to meet there at 5 PM, but when we arrived, they told us we actually needed a reservation and had to come back at 6:45. Thankfully, West Hartford has plenty to do, so we walked around, grabbed some food, and returned for our reservation. One thing to know is that you pick the pottery you want to paint it's not a place where you make the pottery yourself. That has pros and cons, depending on your preferences. I'm honestly not that artistic when it comes to freehand painting, so I picked a simple snowflake design (probably the cheapest option at around $14). My friends picked reindeer, cookie trays, and other fun items. Painting was fun, but you have to leave your piece for 2-3 weeks to be glazed, so don't expect to take it home the same day. The space is small, but I liked the intimate setting. The staff was also very nice, and overall, I had a good experience. I would definitely go back.

Claypen is located on Farmington Avenue in West Hartford Center between Walden and Dale streets. Lookout for the sessions posted outside if looking for something specific. I was attracted to the Studio Ghibli theme they were having and immediately made a reservation. I honestly didn't know what to expect until I arrived there. Upon check in, we were shown where we'd be seated and were told that we select any ceramic on the shelf and will be provided the paints and can even replenish it ourselves from the shelf. As well as take as much time as we needed to complete our design. My daughter did her own thing and drew Sanrio on different sides while I wanted to paint Haku and my friend, Totoro. I think it all came out really well!! I looked up an image tried to copy it onto the jar. Originally using a pencil and lightly tracing it onto the surface to not affect the image, although I was told that the pencil burns off during the baking process. We were also instructed to paint more than 1 coat so that the paint will show. The whole process was easy enough. When finished, everything can be brought to the counter for payment. Essentially the painting is free, it's the ceramic that needs to be paid for. I would think that the piece is averagely priced. If wanting to be sure, definitely ask before picking a piece. I'd certainly do this again.

I only came across the West Hartford Art League by chance through an event posting, and I have been an avid follower and supporter since. WHAL offers great classes for youth and adults, for beginners and experts. They always have a nice opening reception - often with free food and drink - which is a really nice touch and a way to meet others. Separately, I have also come here for a few mostly food events, like the CT Eats Out supper club inaugural event.
