    Pendant for my daughter

I never would have known about Creative Girl without Yelp and the yearly Made in CT events! I was majorly jealous when I saw the pictures after last years Creative Girl event and really wanted to try it. The year really sped by and I still had not booked anything so when I saw the event I jumped at the opportunity!! Owner/operator Laurie Lynn is an amazing and free spirited woman! She's a wonderful teacher and when she's done teaching, she loves to see how everyone flies off in their own directions! Everyone's personalities spilled from their fingertips and onto their wine glasses, pendants, and magnets in beautiful patterns and designs. Mine, of course, was the only one I didn't like lol but everyone else seemed not to like their own, a human quality I suppose! Laurie Lynn was like a butterfly floating to each of her flowers to see what she could assist with and offer praise!! Everyone in the room felt special and talented!! Wine is offered at many of the events or you are welcome to byob! I love the option for that, I'm a wine lover! Although Creative Girl does not have a store front, it is directly on Main Street. Use the door next to Ford Diner, take the stairs up and go right! I definitely recommend Creative Girl for parties, get togethers or just a simple girls night out!

I went to my first class at Creative Girl Studios and I can't wait to go back. We made our own bath salts. The space is well decorated, fun, and will make you get your creative in.

I attended a Yelp event here a few weeks back. The space is located above Ford's Diner on Main Street Middletown. The studio consists of 3 different rooms - 2 of which are bright with high ceilings. The first room is smaller and decorated very cute, with string lights hanging from the window visible on Main St. This night, we made a clay pendant for a necklace and a bath salt soak. The owner was great. Very enthusiastic, nice, and helpful. We left with our necklaces looking professionally made thanks to her help. I also loved the bath salts we made, and the instructor was very informative about the add-ins and the benefits of each. I made a black sea salt, lavender, chamomile creation. Classes, I believe, run anywhere from $30-$45 depending on the craft that they're making. I would say the price is worth it for a fun night out where you get to leave with a piece of jewelry/cosmetic item/etc.

This is a fun spot for a birthday party or girls night! Lots of great activities including clay bead jewelry and accessory making. It's sometimes hard to find time to be creative. This is a great venue for tapping into your creative side.

My friend, who is an artist, introduced me to this place, and she says that CAW has a strong reputation in the art community. I have zero art background, but I have taken drawing and photography classes here. All the teachers were friendly, enthusiastic, and well-prepared. I felt like I learned a lot and that the teachers were encouraging of beginners. They have a huge variety of classes here including cool stuff I'd like to try like metal sculpture. There are both short workshops (good for artists who are already well-versed in a topic but want to pick up a new technique) and longer classes. The cost is a little pricey, but well-worth it in my opinion. They also have an exhibition space and show really nice artwork there. This past summer, my friend and I went to see a juried show there and it was very good. The Creative Arts Workshop is a fantastic place to learn art and join an artistic community. I can't recommend it highly enough.

In the Perspective Drawing of Buildings and Architecture workshop, Eric March introduced strategies, gave students a chance to experiment, and consulted individually to discuss what works for each person and how to expand skills. His presentation was clear, and his comments were gentle and specific. For me, as a non-professional with some drawing experience, the class was engaging and informative - a delightful way to spend two afternoons. Being able to see and draw things from different perspectives makes drawing more fun and satisfying. As someone who ordinarily is more interested in life than buildings, I also realized the advantage of starting with boxier shapes, knowing that I can apply the same techniques to the animate world now that I have seen how they work. I highly recommend the workshop and other opportunities to work with Eric March.

Staff is super nice and we could have spent more than 2 hrs in there just relaxing and catching up. I look forward to going back there. The instructor was great, very helpful and clearly explained each step of the process. I was frustrated at the beginning, having not painted since middle school, but began to develop confidence as my painting was near finished. I was also able to go back and touch up some areas that I thought needed it. A great way to spend an evening with friends. I definitely plan to return.
