Everything was set out ahead of time, except for paint, and everyone attending was able to pick their pre-sketched painting. Care for clothes was addressed and smocks handed out. Time flew by, and even though I have the painting skills of a toddler (I know this to be true), she and her assistants were kind and complimentary. We were all encouraged to be creative and break outside the template with the materials available, so truly none of the finished products look the same. Now I have art for my one day kitchen, and it's marked on the back so I know what artist I made it under!

Posh Paint did a staff event at my school. She was timely, fun, lively and very professional. The staff raved about how much fun she was and how we must bring her back. Once she was done she cleaned up promptly and event provided pictures and boomerangs of the event for staff to keep for memories. I make pottery and go there to throw or hand build using clay. Jim and Mark are very knowledgeable and help with all of my questions. There's another instructor who runs painting classes. WHAL offers great classes for youth and adults, for beginners and experts. There are also lots of awesome showcases of locals' work - including some of my own photos once or twice - of different media. They always have a nice opening reception - often with free food and drink - which is a really nice touch and a way to meet others. Separately, I have also come here for a few mostly food events, like the CT Eats Out supper club inaugural event. I really enjoyed getting the chance to view some local art by some really talented folks! Now that this location is on my radar, I am going to be checking in so see what other events they host. I heard that they also have done photography showings in the past. The venue itself is a tad tough to find just going by google maps, but once you realize where it is, parking is super easy. Her job as the owner was to make our guests feel welcomed and comfortable, neither of which she accomplished. To add insult to injury, the two small ac units, which would be suitable for a small bedroom, provided NO comfort at all. The temperature in that place was unbearable! Caroline bombarded me with passive aggressive, negative comments throughout the evening which I tried so hard not to let bother me. Her final performance of the evening was her demand that we take our garbage with us! I WAS HUMILIATED! I was not only robbed of thousands of dollars, (yes, thousands, for 42 people, and we brought our OWN alcohol and food) but robbed of the special evening I had planned for my daughter, her dear friends, amazing family and her soon to be family, on what should have been a memorable evening Four weeks after the disappointing event that still haunted me, I sent Ms. Bossetti an email expressing my concerns. This yarn store got really good reviews, so I was looking forward to going and seeing what it was…read morelike. I'm completely new to this area of Connecticut and thought I would try to search out the local yarn stores. I called first before going to make sure that they were open and the woman who answered the phone was very polite and friendly. When I went to the store and walked in, there were only three people in the store (it is a small store). One person was working behind the counter, and the other two were having a conversation. I was in the store looking around for probably 20 minutes and at no point did anyone say hello, ask me if I needed help finding something, or what I was making etc., etc. I'm used to yarn stores in New York City, and that hustle and bustle, but I have to say even in the NYC stores, they say hello and welcome you in--and a lot of times they ask you what project(s) you're working on, what yarn you're looking for, and if you need any help. They try to engage you. That is part of what makes for a good yarn store experience. At this store, however, there was no engagement whatsoever. I thought it was very odd. The vibe was cold. Then, I guess the one customer they had left the store, and I was alone with these two people for another 10 minutes and they still never said a word to me. I just found it really strange. In terms of their selection of yarn, they seemed to have a lot of Berroco. Some Malabrigo, and small representations of Sandnes Garn, Istex, Madeline Tosh, and Jamieson & Smith and others. The store is very clean and tidy and nicely merchandised, with numerous store samples. I think the general lighting in the store could be improved upon, but many yarns stores seem to suffer from lighting challenges. There seems to be plenty of offstreet parking in a small parking lot in front of the store. Will I recommend or go back to this store? No. Why not? - No customer engagement/strange, standoffish vibe. Life is too short for that. - Small yarn selection; not enough higher end yarns. There are other yarn stores out there with better selections. Not worth the drive.
