After the nail dropped off. It is way below the quick. painful if anything touches it.

They seriously damaged my nail. Two months ago the man was very rough and damaged my cuticle. I began to lose the nail. It looked horrible and I had to keep a bandage on it for two months, mostly because of the pain if anything touched it and also it bulged and looked gross. A couple days ago the top nail came off and the new one is waaaay below the quick. Very painful and awful looking. It will probably take another month to grow out enough to quit hurting. The woman who did my pedicure was also very rough. I am very angry that I have been disfigured and in pain for two months. Getting a simple manicure should not result in losing a nail. I don't like to hurt someone's business but I don't want others going through this.

My experience at Portobello Nails & Spa was wonderful!! All the employees were very nice and the salon was super clean. I called ahead and made an appointment, the woman on the phone was very friendly, and they were ready for me right when I got there. There were a few other people there, but it was not too busy. There was a wonderful selection of colors and I found the exact color I was looking for! The manicurist I had was named Tina, and she was great! The people I was with had Tami, Bella, and Holly and they were all excellent as well. They all took their time, did a great job, and were very friendly! I would also like to add that we brought my 5 year old cousin, and they were very nice to her and painted her nails, and were willing to paint her toes, for $5 while we got our manicures. Very sweet! Overall, I had a great time at Portobello Nails & Salon, and I would defiantly return, and suggest you go there too!

The delux pedicure did not disappoint! For only $40, it also included a hot stone massage that felt amazing!

I went as a walk-in and wasn't lucky enough to get Jenny (who is also the owner) so my experience was not 5 star worthy. It may not have even been 2 star worthy. I walked in, Tuesday afternoon around 3:30 and the place was empty: 1 customer sitting at the drying table, and 2 employees sitting there staring at me. I'm standing there, clueless, for a least a minute when one of the ladies manages to ask me (in VERY broken English) if I had an appointment. I told her I didn't (although now I wish I had) and that I would like a shellac manicure. She got me the color wheels and told me where to sit. As I was looking thru the colors, I tried asking the woman about lash extensions since I had seen the amazing Yelp photos. She didn't understand and thought I was asking about a color. Oh boy. And she was the better English speaker out of the 2 ladies manning the shop. I later found out that Jenny was in a private room with a lash customer but if I wanted lashes, I could book an appointment and the cost will be $35 -awesome price, kinda too good to be true. I'm intrigued. So back to my manicure. She soaked my hands in cool water. No cuticle remover/lotion applied though. When she proceeded to scrape my nails and clip my cuticles, she was using so much pressure pushing my nail and ripping my skin that it actually hurt! She also tried twisting my thumb toward her further than my thumb can naturally twist - which also hurt. Next, she applied lotion. Yup, lotion. Not at the end of the manicure but immediately following my cuticle removal. The massage was brief. Then she had me wash my hands. When I came back from washing she applied alcohol to my nails and had me bake my hands under the light. What??? Cooking the alcohol in??? The painting process was extremely slow and overly cautious - and never mind me trying to explain the special design I wanted. This was a nightmare and I regret going. My shellac manicure cost $26. I have an appointment for lashes. I imagine that experience will be much better because it's with the owner. Consumer beware. There's only one person that can properly communicate with you here. Hopefully they're better staffed on the weekend.

The day before I went to the salon I called to check the pricing and was told a French manicure was $30 and a gel manicure was $50. Prior to having the nail technician begin my manicure, I verified the price and was told a French manicure is $35 and a gel manicure is $50. Several years ago I had a bad experience removing the polish from a gel manicure, so I opted for the regular French manicure even though I wasn't happy that they quoted me one price on the phone and raised it by $5 when I was seated in the salon. Two days after the manicure the tips began flaking off, and by the third day the clear polish fell off. I returned to the salon and asked for the manager. The woman at the front desk came around and I explained the sitation. She said that when I was there the day of my manicure she cautioned me that the regular polish wouldn't more than three days and I declined a gel manicure for $40 which would last for several weeks. This is totally NOT accurate. I was told a gel French manicure was $50. Because I was already splurging, I couldn't justify a $50 manicure (of course this was excluding a tip). When I questioned the discrepancy between prices quoted on the phone vs in salon (day of manicure), I was told they never would have quoted these prices. Again, today, the supposed manager, told me in her five years answering the phone she has never made a mistake. Rather than make things right today, she said she'll be there next I come in. I let her know there won't be a next time.
