Stopped by today after golf to give their new Big Burger deal a try. Easy to order with the large self serve menu. Then it's just wait a few minutes for your number to be called. The meal is large, the burger has everything on it and is 'open wide' to get a bite. A pile of fries that was more than I could finish and a drink. Burger was their char broiled standard and barely fit on the roll. Overall a great buy for the $10.70 price. Only thing I would change is the itty-bitty plastic cups that you need fill for ketchup, you need about 5 of them for the fries.

Italian Beef Sandwich, fries and cheese sauce with a soda.

I love to eat local when I travel. Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. So glad I did! The atmosphere is vintage but classy and current at the same time. I walked in and stood for a moment taking it all in and an employee came right over to ask if it was my first time there. I guess I had that look of awe. He was very sweet and gave me the run down on where to place my order and where to pick it up. I chose the Italian beef sandwich with fries and a drink and added the cheese sauce too. Thought I would only eat half the sandwich but everything was so delicious I ate every bite! Sorry we don't have this place back home but if I travel through Phoenix again I'll be sure to stop back in. You should too!

Meeting some friends in Avondale, after a few Portillo events, I decided to invite everybody over to Portillo's, of course, because I've been craving their hotdogs for the longest time. My favorite Portillo is the one in Queen Creek. My second favorite is the one in Gilbert. This one was really cold inside. Their AC definitely works lol . OK, back to the food course we all had to try a Chicago style hotdog let everybody know that they put ketchup and ketchup on a Chicago style hotdog. Rumor has it the original Portillo store does not carry ketchup, but the store across the street sells ketchup to Portillo's customers. I love the burgers here and definitely love the french fries dipped into the cheese sauce. Sadly, we were going to go back for dessert, but we had no room left over hehehe. We will be back! See you again Avondale Portillo's!

I went to Portillo's yesterday for the first time in the valley -- I have eaten here before in Chicago (where they're originally from). The restaurant is huge -- upon entering, you go to the right to get in line to order. There are kiosks available to order but I opted to wait for the cashier. He was very nice and answered all of my questions! I ordered the Italian beef with peppers with a strawberry milkshake. The Italian beef was tasty but I feel like the peppers are a necessity -- without them, I don't feel like the sandwich would have had the flavor it needs. The milkshake was creamy and not too thick (so you can still drink it through the straw) with little pieces of strawberry. Yum! Give this place a shot! Service is good and fast and there's something for everyone here.

I thought Portillo's was pretty solid. There is plenty of parking, the dining room is very large with a huge assortment of nostalgic curios to keep you entertained. The restaurant itself is very well done. My wife and I decided we would try to see how a staple of many restaurants compared. That was a simple cheeseburger. I thought it was solid burger. It tastes like it came straight off of the backyard grill with plenty of vegetables and overflowing with melted cheese. The crinkle fries and onion rings were good as well. The only negative observations were that we went to two tables that had food debris on them and there was an employee at the pickup counter eating while she worked. Yes, I will be back. They have a diverse menu that I would like to try more of. The employees were pleasant and the food was good. Great Chicago theme!

I just had the Caesar salad at Portillo's Avondale, and; I can say emphatically it's the bomb. If you never had the Caesar salad at Portillo's, I would recommend you added it to your order and enjoy yourself. Think of The Jackson 5. Enjoy yourself, enjoy yourself, enjoy yourself with me. Yes, have fun Muhammad Amin

Spicy Chicken Chopped Salad - amazed at how this tasted like a spicy chopped Italian sandwich!

I am shocked at my experience here. First off, the atmosphere is very cool and definitely encompasses what they are going for. The interactions with staff were pleasant and the service was quick. The food itself is very on theme and that's what blew me away. I ordered the spicy chicken chopped salad and was shocked at how the flavors were combined to make it taste exactly like the inside of a chopped spicy Italian sandwich. The salad was HUGE, and even came with a side of bread - normally I do not eat the bread side because it's usually basic. Not this one. The bread was warm and very fluffy with a good chew. Even the whipped butter on the side was great. Very happy with the experience here and cool to see the themes of Chicago play through the restaurant and the food!

This restaurant has a huge parking lot and tons of seating! There is a huge pick up and delivery window, kiosks to order at, or cashiers you can place an order with. There was no long on a Tuesday at12, so ordering and getting my food was quick! I ordered the chicken salad with bacon and pecans (the dressing was ) which came with a roll, and a sweet tea. The roll was bland and cheap tasting, but the salad and tea were !

Wow! I'm so glad I stopped in here. Looking for a new spot to try the inviting ambiance drew me in. Once inside the 50's style theme accompanied by the awesome soundtrack of oldies had me bopping my head and singing along! Not too confusing the menu is easy to understand. I order the #3 charbroiled burger ( I love burgers!) My hubby opted for the #1 Italian beef sandwich. Our cashier Jill was a breath of fresh air. You can tell she enjoys her job. Was very helpful when I'd mentioned it was my first time visiting Portillo's . Jill mad the right suggestion for my order and it was the perfect!! My burger was mouthwatering!! The char flavor was just perfect with the fresh crisp lettuce and tomato. The crinkle cut fries and hot cheese dipping sauce. Yum!! The Italian beef sandwich (with a side of gravy) and spicy peppers. C'mon! Every bite better than the first! I can't wait to come back & try something else! I hope I run into Jill again. She is a Diamond in the Rough I do hope she's recognized by management as she's made a great first impression !

This place has an interesting ambience about it. Great food with lots of choices. Customer service was friendly, and one employee even went above and beyond for me. I would definitely recommend trying this place at least once. This has been my go to, after the gym for a couple of days now.

My boyfriend and I split the Garlic Pesto Turkey sandwich, and I can honestly say it was the best sourdough sandwich I've ever had. The bread is everything you want from fresh sourdough soft on the inside, just the right chew, and that perfect tang. The turkey was super flavorful, and the pesto and sauces were next level. Every bite felt so well balanced rich, fresh, and totally satisfying. We also grabbed a white macadamia cookie, and it was the cherry on top. Soft, buttery, and perfectly sweet seriously one of the best cookies I've had in a while. On top of the amazing food, the customer service was incredible. The girls working were so friendly and made us feel genuinely welcome. The space is small but super cute and cozy clean, inviting, and great for a casual meal. I really wish I lived closer because I'd be here all the time (probably too often that bread is dangerously good ). If you're nearby or even just passing through, do yourself a favor and stop in. This place is a gem. Highly recommend!

Updating My Previous Review…read more I'm incredibly disappointed to be updating my review because my previous visits here had been wonderful. This was my 4th visit, and I've recommended Zeta's Grill to others because they had always done such a great job accommodating my severe dairy allergy. Unfortunately, tonight was completely different. Food & Service Almost immediately I noticed things weren't the same. I even politely asked our waiter if the owners had changed because the food and service felt so different from my previous visits. I ordered my usual dinner platter, but: * The lamb came out plain with no onions or bell peppers, even though the menu photo shows both. * The baba ghanoush was missing the pomegranate seeds. * The hummus was much less seasoned than before. * My salad arrived covered in feta cheese despite my dairy allergy. * My grape leaves appetizer never came until I reminded them. * I never received the pita bread that normally comes with the meal and had to ask. * Halfway through dinner they remembered I had ordered saffron rice for the table. It felt like our table kept being forgotten all evening. Food Allergy I have a life-threatening dairy allergy, and I mentioned it multiple times while ordering because previous visits had always been handled so carefully. As we were leaving, my throat began swelling and my ears plugged up. I immediately asked if anything I had eaten contained dairy, including the pita bread. Our waiter went to ask the kitchen. The cook appeared visibly irritated about being questioned, retrieved the pita packaging, and read the ingredients aloud. The second ingredient was whey. By then I had already eaten about half the pita. I had to sit down by the register and use my EpiPen before I could leave. Our Waiter I want to give credit where it's due. Our waiter seemed genuinely concerned and apologized once he realized what had happened. He told me I wouldn't have to pay for my meal. I chose to pay anyway because I didn't feel this was his fault. My frustration is with the kitchen and management, not with him. Other Issues My friends were told their meals included one side, including Greek fries, but were later charged a $4 upcharge. Another friend paid $8 for only two pieces of baklava. When she politely questioned it, the employee became dismissive and insisted only the assorted version came with a full container. After we left, we checked the restaurant's own menu, which lists the assorted baklava for $7.95 for the full container, making the explanation even more confusing. Final Thoughts I brought three friends because I wanted to share one of my favorite restaurants with them. Instead, they watched me have an allergic reaction serious enough to require my EpiPen in the parking lot. I've always spoken highly of Zeta's Grill, which makes this even harder to write. I sincerely hope management reviews their allergy procedures. A food allergy isn't a preference--it can become a life-threatening emergency in minutes.

Absolutely unacceptable and honestly shocking behavior from security here…read more My friend went out for what should have been a normal night, and instead was met with completely unprofessional and aggressive treatment. Her ID had a small dent in it -- still clearly valid -- and instead of handling the situation appropriately, the security guard snapped her ID leaving it almost completely in half. Destroyed it. Then turned her away. That is not only disrespectful, it's completely out of line. Security's job is to verify IDs, not damage personal property. There are proper procedures for questionable IDs, and this was NOT one of them. No apology, no attempt to resolve the situation -- just unnecessary force and a complete lack of basic respect. If this is how they treat people at the door, I can't imagine how the rest of the establishment operates. I would strongly recommend going somewhere else where staff know how to handle situations professionally. I'm just curious - is the security guard now going to pay for her new ID?? This is OUTLANDISH behavior coming from a plain old Jane of a security guard. Clearly he didn't make the cut at the police academy...
