We were drawn into Woody's by all the "flair" that surrounded the little place - wood animal…read morestatues abound! Menu prices were a bit on the high side especially since posted prices did not include taxes! We ordered 3 regular burgers (no cheese or bacon), a large poutine, large fries and 3 drinks and our tab was close to $50! I had to veto the ice cream dessert! The burgers definitely tasted home made - a bit on the drier side but they were generous with the toppings so that made up for it. There's a nice outdoor seating area to eat in. Staff are very friendly and offered things like extra napkins and paper plates to divide up our meal. They let us use the indoor bathroom for our little guy instead of the dark and scary outhouse! Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area for a meal you don't have to cook yourself!

More like a chip truck out back of the tourist curio shop…read more Meats are usually reminiscent of the stuff at the bottom of the freezer, so a little dry. Atmosphere: Roadside chip-truck. Picnic tables to eat outside, if the weather is good. Alongside Eels' Creek in North Kawartha, village of Apsley across the creek. Staff: Friendly, in a city-folk way. Food: Chip-truck fare a la carte. Salad, burgers, hot-dogs, chicken-on-a-bun, fries, poutine, canned soft-drinks. Be prepared to wait, check out the tourist curio shop. Fries are inconsistent; either overcooked or kept under a heat lamp too long. Prices: Very high for this area, don't forget to add 13%HST to whatever you order. Bacon burger, fries, and soft-drink $21.00 after taxes. Tip: Plastic cup for your spare change, at these prices thy want your change? Facilities: Portable chemical toilet with hand sanitizer, mmm good! Suppose you could wash-up in Eels' Creek.

The food was GREAT!! The soup of the day was potato bacon. Homemade. Came with garlic bread, also fresh made bread. Got the hamburger to share!! Again great!! Would have liked French fries instead of the home fries. The reviews giving 1-2 stars are NOT ACCURATE. It's an older building could use a few upgrades and fix ups, but overall a very good experience.

It's a large place inside but the tables were set up a bit oddly. It wasn't the most efficient use of space, but maybe that's good because the kitchen could hardly keep up with the few tables that were here. Let me start by saying though that the people who work here are really nice. Very friendly! It took about 25 minutes for anyone to come take our order and it was another about 35 minutes to get our first appetizer.. I ordered a salad. So I was a bit frustrated with the wait. The salad was heavily dressed but at that point we were so hungry I don't think we cared much. It took some time before we saw our mains. I think we were there for just over an hour before one of our main dishes came out. I was a little annoyed that they didn't apologize or even check in on us. I will say too, don't expect anything spectacular in terms of the food. You're at a motel style diner in the middle of no where. My partners pasta was completely over cooked to mush and sadly my burger was burned... We really didn't want to send it back and end up waiting another hour though so we just ate what we could. I didn't expect much going in, and I wasn't much disappointed. But the people seemed really really nice.

A family run Inn and Restaurant…read more Everyone feels welcome, more like a guest of the family than a patron of the business. Mr. & Mrs. Paramjit Singh are a welcome addition to the North Kawartha Community. They never fail to smile, each and every customer feels as though they have the Singhs' full attention. Their customer instincts are well honed, if you can't decide they'll be more than happy to help narrow it down with you. Beverage refills are quick and steady. If Poppa Singh is in the kitchen, you can usually pour your own coffee, or get hot water for your tea. They have a pick-up menu of east Indian foods that is remarkable. It is prepared, cooked, and served with the customer in mind. It takes time so order a day in advance, or call early to see if they can fit you in. I'd suggest the former, Mrs. Singh is a very busy lady. Atmosphere: Uncle Pars' sun-room. Family warm and friendly. Staff: Warm, friendly, efficient, wonderful, more like extended family. Prices: Average for the regular menu, very reasonable for the pick-up menu. Tip: Well, these are very hardworking people (7 days/week), and they like what they do. Food: The Canadian/American menu is average fare, but it's fresh, prepared for you, not pre-prepared for the next guy who orders it. So it takes the time to cook, that you would at home in the kitchen. Still reasonable prep time. When you get it, it is home cooking at its' finest. The pick-up menu is always fantastic! East Indian food prepared by a wonderful east Indian lady. Whatever combination you choose, you will be happy with. Once you've set a spell at the Apsley Inn & Restaurant, you be back now, you hear? A shame to drive by and not say 'hello'.

We don't like to leave our little poodle at home, he has separation anxiety; we were disappointed to discover that customers w dogs are relegated to picnic tables on the road/lake side. Before, the chairs on the patio were comfortable/good quality outdoor furniture, but I guess these have been moved to a new, second patio which is dog free but still outside. I brought the cushion my dog sits on in the floor and outdoors, so I sat on it on the hard bench picnic table, ha ha. The shrimp appetizer reflected its frozen journey. The predecessor restaurant always has super seafood. The Thai Mussels were small but a really phenomenal sauce (different from the red curry I've had, it was tomato based and delicious, we sucked it down quickly). Husband's burger was bland and disappointing: I talked him into a side salad instead of fries; the salad used iceberg lettuce and was also disappointing. This was our 29th anniversary dinner so he was quite disappointed and says he will not return to this resto. My Lobster roll was really lovely (should be for $34) but very slow coming and missing the grilled corn on the menu. Service was friendly. One of the owners dropped by to chat when we first arrived Drink list is good...while we were waiting and waiting for our burger and roll I ordered a third glass of wine; together w his two beers and the four dishes, our total bill was $195 w tax and tip. A bit much for two disappointing dishes at a picnic table. This is not fine dining in my view, but Summerkiss is a hard act to follow. We are heading to Lands8fifty in Harcourt for my birthday dinner this week; it also represents itself as offering fine dining and I really hope it follows through
