    Caramel bread pudding

This place came highly recommended by locals in another town. They said if you don't know, then you will know. Get it?!! Anyway, if you look on google you will see TONS of reviews for this place and all positive. This place sits in a Polish community and serves authentic Polish food. Portions were good, prices too and the food was amazing! The pirogies are legit and taste way better than those nasty ones in the frozen section of the grocery store. They are about the size if a hockey puck and stuffed with potatoes, cheese, and bacon. They do have a vegetarian option. This kids meal has the usual options plus one served with a pirogi and raw veggies. The kids meal also comes with a choice of juice or milk and ice cream (vanilla or chocolate). The day we came the daily special was schnitzel on a bun topped with fried onions, pickles, lettuce and tomato, a side of cole slaw and choice of onion rings or french fries. Having sampled both, the fries and onion rings are great. The coating on the rings was not too thick and the rings were not cut very thick, which I like. I got the two pirogi meal topped with sautéed onions and a house salad. The salad came with a poppy seed vinaigrette - wowzers. That was one of tastiest dressings I have ever had. People raved about the caramel bread pudding, so I had to try it. It was very good. We went in just right after service started and the restaurant filled up pretty quickly. And according to our waitress sometimes they get so busy they cannot take any take out orders. So if you are ever in the area, I highly recommend you stop in. You will not be disappointed

Very, very, very good food. Today's meal could not have been better. Authentic Polish cuisine--second to none. Located in the heart of Wilno ON. Wilno is the first and oldest Polish settlement in Canada. The original settlers in this area, circa 1858, were mainly of Kashubian origin from the then Prussian area of Poland.

The real showstopper was the caramel bread pudding--moist and generous with the sauce and whipped cream.

Upon driving up to The Granite, you can see it's located right on the river with a deck facing it, and it looks to be an older converted house. We were all digging the 70's/ 80's era rock tunes throughout our meal and helped give the experience a nostalgic ambience. I ordered a unique mocktail with a hosemade raspberry and basil syrup- it was so good and different than anything I'd tasted before. For my entree, I had the Ginger Sesame Pasta. WOW! This was such a delicious dish! Everything about it was delicious. The peppers and onions were grilled to perfection, and the chicken was tender and juicy having just been fried on a golden batter. All this layered onto some Cantonese Style Noodles- it was the dish I didn't know I needed! Our meal at The Granite was hearty and delicious! It kept us going for the long drive back to Toronto. Next time I'm in Bancroft, I'll definitely be back to have this dish and drink again. They were so good!

This place was recommended by our hosts, and it was one of the few places that was open late in town so we decided to give it a shot. The restaurant looks to be in a converted house and it was very busy. We didn't have a reservation but luckily there was a no show so we ended up taking their slot. I ended up ordering the sausage trio. Because it was so busy it took a while for our food to arrive, but it was worth the wait. Portion wise it was quite large and the presentation nice. In addition to the variety of sausages, there was also mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts, and some sauerkraut. The tastes of all the elements blended nicely together and I found everything to be quite delicious. The house made spicy mustard sauce was a nice touch and kicked things up a notch. I would come back again if I ever made my way back to Bancroft

From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed by the warm, rustic atmosphere. They have a beautiful patio, which would be perfect on a sunny day, and our waitress was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and super helpful. I ordered the Iron Man Burger, and it was hands-down one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Juicy, perfectly cooked, loaded with toppings, and a very generous portion--it left me full and satisfied. The sauce was so delicious that I wished I had a whole jar of it to dip my fries into too! My wife went with the Fish and Chips, and they were equally impressive: crispy, light batter, tender fish inside, and also a very generous portion. She was all smiles and cleaned her plate without hesitation. On top of that, the service was fast, and everything came out piping hot. Whether you're just passing through or looking for a new favorite spot, Bancroft Brewery Pub is a must-visit. Amazing food, big portions, great service, and a cozy, welcoming vibe. Two thumbs up, five stars--we'll definitely be back!

This round was for breakfast and we were a group of 4 adults and 3 children. Where the place is not lacking is portion sizes for most of the dishes. The mix plate dishes (e.g. Eggs; pancakes; etc) were really large (too large to be honest). There is also combinations that do not make a lot of sense (e.g. You usually don't get pancakes AND toast). The problem with these dishes were execution. Eggs were fine, home fries were white and under cooked, toast was so thin buttering them broke the slice, and the pancakes were flavourless. My wife had a breakfast wrap which was hilariously small. It looked almost miniature novelty sized. Fortunately, everyone else's food was so over portioned that there was more than enough to pass on to her. The place apparently has been taken over by new owners. They are Indian and are launching an Indian menu in mid-September. That will hopefully be something they enjoy themselves and have some good family recipes to delivery to the locals. I wondered in the back where they have a bar & grill type place. It was nice looking and they had a couple of decent beers on tap. Might be a better evening spot.

The beers have funny festive names and funky festive flavours. This past year, 2023, some of the beers in this set were "Cuddly as a Cactus" (Green Apple Sour), "Figgin' Christmas Cake" (Christmas Cake Honey Brown) and "Not My Gumdrop Buttons!" (Gingerbread English Ale). Even though I'm not a beer drinker, I do like trying these unusual flavours and having a tiny sip. My comment is usually "too hoppy" or "tastes too much like beer!" Haha. My husband likes the fun flavours but has noted that some of the notes are on the artificial side, and likes their "regular" beers better. They sell their beers online and offer free local delivery (The Ottawa Valley) or you can also pick up at their location in Cobden for free. They deliver to the rest of Ontario for a shipping fee too. Their beers are also available at the LCBO. The 12 Beers of Christmas set is regularly $68 but if you pre-order, you get the pre-order sale price of $54.40, which is what my brother did. It means my husband received his gift a bit early, but I'm proud of my brother for scoring a deal ;) (12)
