And we hadn't been bothered by mosquitos yet in Muskoka (apparently it had been "too hot"), so we'd been rather cavalier with the mosquito spray. Cue "Lord of the Valkyries" from "Apocalypse Now" with the entrance of the mosquitos. The mosquitos particularly seemed to be fond of the picante pizza. That's when they made their first appearance - I'm guessing it was because of the honey on the pizza - and they dissipated somewhat when the food was gone. Some candles would have been nice to help with our mosquito naivete but the restaurant didn't have any. We got a seasonal special of Niagara-on-the-Lakes peach caprese. They had me at peach, caprese, AND Niagara-on-the-Lakes (one of my favorite places). The dish consisted of peaches, bocconcini (small fresh mozzarella balls), cucumbers, and peach gazpacho. It was good but small and honestly I thought it would be better. We were told the aforementioned picante pizza (salami, fior di latte mozzarella, honey) was the most popular. The salami was cut too big so some bites were all salami and some bites were no salami. It was good but I'd get a different pizza in the future. There's a similar pizza ("the sweet and heat" at State of Mind) in Palo Alto near where I live that works a little better that's topped with bacon, jalapenos, and honey. The husband and daughter liked their margherita pizza. My favorite dish was the pappardelle with short rib ragu. Short ribs always make everything better. The server was really nice and volunteered some places to visit in Muskoka.

I started with some nachos that had multiple layers of cheese. Thank you very much. The ceviche was delicious. The tacos don't come individually so hard spot to go solo. They come in a deconstructed state with meat and all the toppings on the side. You assemble them yourself and make them how you like. One plate made 6 decent size tacos. As usual the service was fast and super friendly. The room stayed the same with a casual ambiance. Well done!!

By now we've tried most of the menu but the favourites are the mushroom manchego grilled cheese and the duck. Some items are rotating, which is a nice way to try new items. I did find that in the early years there was some inconsistency with the portion size or plating (I remember this especially for the octopus) but I'm sure as years pass this has been ironed out. I also really like their bread with various canned seafoods. There's a pretty extensive drinks list, and a little market area yo purchase items to go. All in all a nice spot to meet with friends or have a date. There aren't too many seats so if they are busy it may be hard to get seating.

Our friend ordered the Mexican poutine which I thought wouldn't be that exciting but I was wrong! The fries were seasoned with spices, there was a large quantity of food (she didn't even finish it) it was loaded with toppings! My wife ordered the 7 layer burrito, we went to a Mexican place in Maine and assumed the burrito would come with toppings like cheese lettuce and sour cream on top of the burrito. We thought that because the title on the menu is "7 layer burrito or Naked burrito" toppings or none. Nope not the case. Its actually in a wrap or in a bowl. We might be the only people who were confused but now you know. It was huge and my wife couldn't finish it. I ordered the tacos! Had too! Put them together yourself and the added hot sauce at every table was fantastic! Something you should know though, when you pick your protein, ground beef is literally just ground beef. Not seasoned with taco seasoning! It could have used some salt or something. It comes out in 3 trays. One is sizzling peppers, onions, your protein choice (go with chorizo) and topped with cheese. Next tray is warm tortillas (flour or corn) along with fresh tortilla chips, guac and some very weird sauce that tasted exactly like coleslaw dressing. Definitely not quaso. That was very disappointing. Not sure what to do with that stuff as it also came with my wife's burrito. Salsa would do just fine but that dressing was a terrible let down. Next small tray was sour cream, your choice of mild, medium, and hot salsa. Pro tip, medium had no kick at all, and on the end was Pico De Gallo which seemed to be fairly fresh! All was excellent except the tortillas chip dip. Swap that for Pico De Gallo or salsa or even better, quaso and it's a home run! Very filling, very healthy, loved it!

Had the tres tacos - half taco and half fajita. Basically a build your own taco. Chicken had pretty good seasoning and they let you choose your own spice level. Mexican fries - big portion and tasty. Quesadilla - tasty filling and again big portion. They have decent hot sauces for the table but you can ask for their homemade hot sauce. Overall a good experience.

The biggest issue was the incredibly slow service--waiting for each dish felt like an eternity. While the staff was friendly, the food itself didn't live up to the hype. Absolutely Outstanding Experience!…read more We contacted Michael & Marion's to host my son and now daughter-in-law's wedding, as we've always loved both the food and service there. From start to finish, it was hands-down the best choice we could have made. Kent, the owner, was an absolute pleasure to deal with -- professional, accommodating, and completely transparent. He clearly outlined what was available and what to expect, with no hidden costs or "nickel and diming." When it looked like our ceremony venue might fall through, he even offered us the restaurant space as a backup, which was such a thoughtful gesture (thankfully, we didn't need it -- but the offer said everything about their level of care). We met with Kent twice and Jade once, and the process felt almost too easy -- so informal and effortless that I thought it might be too good to be true. But it wasn't. When we arrived on the big day, everything was exactly as promised -- and even better than I had imagined. Throughout the evening, Jade and the entire team were incredible. They were attentive, professional, and seemed to anticipate every need before we even had to ask. I never once felt like I had to manage a thing. The food was phenomenal, the service outstanding, and the atmosphere absolutely perfect. I would highly recommend Michael & Marion's for any event or special occasion. I'm eternally grateful to Kent, Jade, and their team for making this day so smooth, memorable, and truly perfect. Angela McKeown

The girl working was super nice and suggested she can make a pogo in a bun. I declined went to subway (same place) the customer service was atrocious at the subway but that's besides the point. Generous amount of onions in the bun huge plus, it's like she knew me ))) . Customer service 10/10. I'll be back for the proper hot dog next time.. or two! :)

It's an excellent place to stop. It's so good I even saw employees from the adjacent Subway get their lunch there. The classics are solid. The cheese dog is worthy of the name, and the poutine will make Canada proud. They are very generous with the gravy, making this a tasty proposition. The signature dishes are the Rise to Fries dog and rose to fries poutine, both featuring their "secret sauce" and pickles. Both are great and preferred over the plain classics. The sauce has a nice herby flavor that works well with the sour taste of the pickles. It's really worth a try. Finally, the lady at the counter was warm, friendly, and energetic, like she actually wanted to work there, a rare phenomenon in this industry.
