Made an appointment to drop off my SUV for two recalls and an oil change. I pulled up and was greeted and told to go inside to check in. Inside I waited in line and was greeted by Lorenzo. He was very professional and shook our hands, reviewed everything that was being done to the car. He asked if we would like to have our vehicle delivered to our address free of charge? Ah - yes please! This made things so much easier for us in the evening instead of driving down to Newark during rush hour. Lorenzo called to say our vehicle was finished and we paid over the phone for the oil change and said we would get a text was the car was on its way. Received a text and the car arrived in 15 min, and we were handed a receipt. This as the best customer service we have ever had with a vehicle. We will be coming back here again!! read more

Dropped off car at 9am, called at 2:30pm on the status and they just took the car to the shop 30min ago my car was there for 5h and nothing was done to the car, I told the associate that this is unacceptable for my car to sit there for 5h and nothing has been done, he said "we have been back up little bit" and that he "understands" wtf?!? Started my day looking for a truck. Went to Porter to look at a Ranger. I was greeted by Michael who asked what brought me in. I explained what I was interested in and what I wanted for my trade in. Now I didn't just grab some number out of the sky. I had my car appraised and showed them the offer and asked if they could meet it. Michael was able to push that through and we began the whole process. I explained that I worked second shift and time was valuable for me. So I was able to get some numbers that worked for me without any negotiations or back and forth with the manager. Once we agreed on said price the finance application was done online at my convenience. No pressure to buy that day. Michael said we can run the app and get you the best rate and you can take delivery when you're ready. The finance manager was awesome as well. Got us out of there in under 20 minutes. I purchased a 2020 Ford Escape (Demo Model) on November 18, 2020. After finishing the paperwork, I was informed that I could not drive my new car home that day, because there was a Recall on it and they would take care of the Recall issue and call me when I could come and pick up my vehicle. Upon receiving the vehicle, I noticed a periodic shaking in the left front tire and the Windshield Wiper Fluid was low. So, I drove the car to the dealership and asked them to look at the problem. They indicated to me that I needed to make an appointment, because they needed a tech to look at the issue. My appointment was scheduled for Wednesday, December 16, 2020, I brought the Escape in that day for the scheduled appointment. After several hours the service representative called and told me that there is no problem with the car. I was told that when in Economy Mode all of the 2020 Escape's shudder and shake when two cylinders drop out. When receiving this news, I was unhappy and was resigned to the fact that I might have to live with this issue. Then while getting in my 2020 Ford Escape, on December 20, 2020, on my way to my Mother's Funeral; the trim on the interior passenger side by the Windshield falls apart (another Recall). Final straw, I decided to bring the car back and get a replacement vehicle. Made the appointment with Jake & Andy. Having purchased my previous vehicle from Porter a 2019 Ford Escape and having purchased a second vehicle from Porter, I thought I had found a car dealer, which I had a good relationship with. APPARRENTLY I WAS WRONG!!! I purchased the defective a demo 2020 Ford Escape for $30,767, with the $4,250 rebate, the net price of my defective 2020 Ford Escape was $26,517. When looking to upgrade to the Edge, I was given the price breakdown. The Trade-In Allowance on the defective vehicle was only $20,000. A $6,517 loss on a Demo vehicle, which has already had 2 recalls and a shudder when Eco Mode. Unhappy Customer!!! read more

In September of 2023 I purchased a used 2015 Nissan Frontier from this dealership. Within the first week I noticed a heating issue with the truck. After several visits back to the service department, they eventually replaced the engine coolant thermostat. After retrieving the truck, I immediately experienced issues with the temperature gauge fluctuating and the fan running nonstop. I was initially told this was normal operating status for the vehicle and they were not able to duplicate the issues. Fast forward four months later, the vehicle has finally been fixed at my expense. In the four months of ownership, the vehicle has been in Porter Ford's service shop as well as a local Nissan dealership for the same reported issues for approximately 2 months. Out of pocket, I have spent approximately $1,000 not including over a half dozen trips taking the vehicle back and forth to the dealership from Maryland to Delaware. Ultimately, it was determined the service department at Porter Ford installed an aftermarket thermostat and the incorrect coolant which caused the subsequent issues that I experienced. I reached out to the service department to determine if I would be re-imbursed for the cost and inconvenience experienced by the defective part and improper installation performed under the 3000 mile warranty provided by the dealership. I was informed this week that the owner decided not to honor my request. I am extremely disappointed by this experience and would like to give insight to anyone else that may be looking to buy a used vehicle from this dealership. read more

Purchased a used vehicle from Jill Porter. Told her numerous times I didn't want a smokers vehicle. Took fir a test drive it had a new car smell. She also told me the keys on key chain locked the cap. They delivered truck to my house drove it 3 days later and it reaked of cigarette smoke. They came and got it had it for 5 days then dropped it off again smelled like cover up, drove it a few days later after airing it out and still reaked if cigarette smoke. They got it again had it for a week this time they dropped it off again smelled like cover up. When asked why the key doesn't fit cap lock was told we will get you a key. So after letting them know the smell of cigarette smoke was making us sick. They said well buy it back from you at retail price. Losing a large sum of money after reading state law I informed them I had 30 days to return vehicle the said time expired on that by 2 days. Even though they had vehicle for almost 2 weeks. I honestly would not recommend going there at all. Not even to someone I dislike. 2 months and no key. Had truck professionally cleaned there is a faint smell. read more

Very strange dealership. My family and I walked in and started looking at one of the vehicles when a man came by and just stopped and stared at us for a minute then asked if we needed help. We replied no thank you. The many slowly walked around the car and stood next to me again starring which was unnerving and asked again if we needed help. We replied no thank you once again. 2/15/2022 Decided to trade in my 2018 Audi A5 for a bigger vehicle to travel in. Also the wife hated it (too low to get into). I had previously purchased 3 cars from Porter since 2013. Searched for an Edge ST and Porter had one. Filled out their online trade in form and it offered $39000 for my car. Sounded good, so I made an appointment to look at the Edge. It did not go well. My Audi had a fender dent from a parking lot incident (never found out who did it). I had it repaired at a certified body shop which did an excellent job using all Audi parts. Because of the repair, they only offered me $33000. Also, they made me feel as if I was attempting to dump a damaged car on the dealership (for a parking lot dent that was ultimately repaired!). They were asking the MSRP for the car which was $47000. I said no deal and left. Incidentally, two days later Porter added $2000 above the MSRP and listed the car for $49000. I have read that Ford corporate has discouraged this practice, but Porter decided to gouge the customers anyway. I subsequently sold the Audi to CarMax for $37600. Found a similarly equipped new 2021 Edge ST at Chapman Ford in PA for $44000. They had reduced the price $1500 from the MSRP since it was a 2021 leftover. According to my research, the 2022 was identical to the 2021 Edge. So I bought it and saved about $7500 from the Porter offer. Needless to say, Porter has lost my loyalty. read more

Service department sees customers as a inconvenience. Brought girlfriend's car in for air bag recall and the service writer, drive up attendant could not pull a record of the car being serviced there, yet the car was purchased there used a few years ago. Their dealer logo is literally on the car! Service writer seemed upset that the car was just there for an airbag recall. Well with service like that no wonder I was the only customer being waited on at that time, the only saving grace was the friendly shuttle driver. read more

Shopping for a new vehicle is no fun at all, but after a serious car accident on Aug 11th my girlfriend's suv was totaled and we had no choice. In 1 week we checked out over 20 different dealership's, test drove no less then 34 different vehicles thru 3 different states Pa. Del. and NJ, she actually signed a couple contracts on cars during that time to end up pulling out at the last minute because the dealer either changed things or added fees not pervosly discussed. She found a car on Porter's Web page on the way home from a long day of car shopping so we turned around and went down to Porter Ford, When we arrived the car was there and for the advertised Web price, we didn't have 3 sales guys jump on us as soon as we got out of our car, they gave us time to look around it was very nice, no pressure, no sales guy following you around! Michael our salesman let us test drive the car "alone" just so refreshing after a long week, we sat down made a deal but at the end my girlfriend wanted to sleep on it, so the next day we went back down to buy the car, Michael our salesman was off that day but came in to meet us on his time, he had most of the paperwork done and the car cleaned ready to go. she walked out of the finance office 10 mins later with a better rate then promised no add ons, no tricks everything was spot on. If you do business with this dealership, they will sell your information to virtually every "vehicle warranty" company in existence. Literally, every single day my phone gets bombarded with automated calls to "extend my vehicle's warranty", despite the fact that I never actually bought a warranty with my used vehicle. The calls persist even though I have asked on multiple occasions to be taken off of the list, and now they have even started sending me emails regarding the same topic. When my girlfriend bought her used Escape here, she was promised a set of headrests for her rear seat, which then they never provided her. I give them 1-Star and not zero because their parts department was able to find a part number for a vehicle speed sensor no other local Ford dealer could find. read more

I don't know what Porter Ford the other reviewer went to when they wanted to buy a car, but the Porter Ford I have bought 2 cars from in the past year, and had multiple friends buy cars from as well, is always excellent. They are always super friendly, are not pushy, and act like normal people, not salesmen. Every question I have gets answered straight. I tell them what I want and they get it for me. It is by far the best dealer experience I have ever had and with the number of cars I buy and trade, I have seen a lot of really bad dealers and Porter is the best by a long shot, especially compared to other Ford dealers in the area. Sometimes the shuttle experience can be stressful, but I had a great conversation with him, and appreciated his calm and friendly demeanor. And I spoke directly to the mechanic... I think his name was Eric? I feel bad that I can't remember. But he was very helpful and genuine, and explained the situation to me. I had a horrible experience with the service department. I took my car in for a repair on a recent recall. When I walked in, there were no other customers and about 5 service attendants available. I stood there for about 10 minutes before anyone offered to help me. When I went to explain why I was there, the service attendant seemed confused and was rude and not helpful at all. I left my car and received a follow up text saying that they were going to need my car another day for a service that I explicitly said I DID NOT NEED. When I called to clarify, the service attendant was, once again, rude and not helpful. I asked to speak to the manager and when I did he (the manager) told me that his guys were just doing their job and they "assumed I knew that they were doing that extra service." He was more rude than the service attendant! We own a Ford Explorer and a Ford pick-up truck. This dealership is only 2 miles from our house; however, I will NEVER go back and will drive the extra miles to go somewhere else. Very disappointing that they added unnecessary time and stress to my day and were unapologetic about it. read more

THIS DEALERSHIP IS ALL OVER THE PLACE! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!! I spoke to Gary Spencer on Wednesday of last week who told me the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited I was interested in was available and ready for delivery. Then I received a response from Tom Guido saying Gary was on vacation and unavailable but that he could set me up with another sales guy. Then Gary responds back saying I can still come in this evening, I just have to ask for Jacob Curtis who is the manager. I drove over an hour in crazy rush hour traffic to arrive by my scheduled appointment time, only to ask for Jacob and have them tell me "Oh yeah he already left two hours ago." At this point, Im beyond frustrated. They told me to have a seat and another salesman would help me. After waiting about 15-20 minutes, they really put the icing on the cake by telling me the Jeep that I was interested in was still on the lot but "already sold" after just this morning it was still available. So on Monday I called to see if someone could fix it, I was told my the rude person that answered the phone that I could drop it off and they would get to it when they get to it. I said how long will that be and she said again we will get to it when we get to it, they wanted to charge me $ 125.00 just to look at the truck. Very rude and condescending service crew. I am sure the repair technicians are fine, but the customer interface is well below acceptable. It is quite possible I had a weird situation but the true colors of the customer service team shined though today. I had my son drop the vehicle off for service. When the service was complete he returned home with the paperwork. All he had was a $133 dollar credit card receipt, and inspection report and a recall completion report. It looked as though they charged me for an inspection and recall, essentially double dipping with Ford. I called and asked what service was completed, they said exactly what is on your paperwork. Things got ugly quick as I mentioned there was no paperwork and they did not believe me. Things were not going well and I asked the lady her name. She would not give it but kept referring to me as "honey". I am too old to deal with this kind of insubordination. It was my first and last visit to this service center.
